However, at least 30% of that money was added by Nancy Pelosi and her minions, for things like paying unemployment benefits that were higher than what people made working, which also stopped people from going back to work. BILLIONS was spent on unions, most notably the teachers union. As Trump said, his tax cuts brought record revenue into the government. Spending is the problem.

Viewing this from Europe (so I’m “sticking my nose in” but however…), I agree with you. Trump may have some good ideas but his term in office didn’t demonstrate any long term thinking about putting “Uncle Sam” back on track. The only “consolation” for Americans is that many European countries are also mired in debt with no real sign that politicians are willing to face up to the problem.

The Laffer curve should be common knowledge.
There is a point where taxing a higher percentage will actually yield lower tax revenue because it stifles the economy. That point is around 20%.
When Trump lowered taxes the economic growth actually created more overall tax revenue.
The real question is why does any administration purposely hurt the economy by over taxing?
According to what economic study is the peak of the laffer curve around 20%? Every study I have seen comes up with a rate between 60%-70% which was the top bracket US tax rate during the period of its fastest growth (50s, 60s and 70s)

There is also this video citing a tax rate of around 33% in one study but I don’t think it’s referring to the corporate tax rate.

Really? Trump didn't spell it out, but he clearly mentioned his increase in the debt was related to measures to hold things down during COVID. He tied it to tax cuts and to his pre covid economy, something that goes to the heart of the issue. No one wants to hear arguments about a pandemic that is already over, we need to look at the record from before covid and after covid. Trump was being a conservative president on the debt with no crazy spending, he would likely have the best 4 years in a generation when it comes to slowing down the debt if his economy kept growing at the rate it was.
