I'll admit, it definitely felt great to have another villain character who actually revels in being evil! Redeemable villains or ones with tragic backstories or misguided intentions are great, but sometimes it's nice to just go back to the basics and have an antagonist who ENJOYS knowing they're horrible. It gives the audience a guilt-free way to root for their demise.
The panic attack scene made me cry. I used to have really bad anxiety in high school and would sometimes have panic attacks as well. When I had them, my dog would come over and do the exact same thing Perrito did to Puss. I absolutely adore this movie.
@Saints Row The Badass Bro definitely. It was both a pleasant surprise and a sad reminder on how badly they dropped the ball on Velma that an animated movie meant to be enjoyed by all ages handled a panic attack more tacitly and with much more care than an animated series meant for adults.
As an adult I LOVED this movie! Shrek (and the Puss and Boots spinoffs) have never been "just for kids", they've always heavily featured adult humor and storylines and i love them for it
Exactly! This is something that argue about a lot in comments. The best "kids" films that stand the test of time are ones that actually appeal to FAMILIES (as in both kids and their adult guardians). Movies like this are appreciated and well loved for respecting the intelligence of their audience and kids will only love this film more and more as they age and start to understand more of the themes.
I like that both puss and shrek’s movies are both for kids and ADULTs because the adult jokes, kids don’t know that what there are but adults do,so that makes it fun for both kids and ADULTS.
Another note with Goldi's story, I bet, even if it was entirely unintentional, Baby's hostility to her all the time probably constantly made her feel otherly from the bears, like she didn't belong. She seemed brightest with mama bear, like she did genuinely see her as her mother, but the way baby treated her made her feel like it was out of pity or something. Even if Baby never meant it, as he clearly looked upset hearing what Goldi's wish was, he still made her feel cast aside. And I feel like a lot of kids, when they get an adopted sibling, or even biologic or step sibling, feel hostile to this new kid because now they're competing for attention when they didn't need to do that before. So they treat this new kid less then because they don't like that they have to share their parent's attention. I thought that was a lovely detail and it felt incredibly natural for Goldi to feel that way, not just because she was different, but because her brother *treated her* like she was different.
I live in my own place now, but I have little siblings so I recommended this to my family bc I loved it lol My parents have to deal with so many movies that only really appeal to kids, so I was excited to recommend this to them 😆 and there's cats! Cats are always a plus
When Perito first showed up I thought he was just going to be another typical annoying "cute" animal character. Then they made him so endearing. He was such a sweet addition that actually furthered the plot and helped the characters grow. Loved that.
I immediately was ready to hate him. I hate fake-happy comic relief characters normally, but Perrito ended up being my favorite character in the movie. He's not fake-happy, he's genuine and he comes across that way. He's the heart and soul of the movie.
the best part for me is definitely the part where he was just actually USEFUL TO THE PLOT as well. Many, many, many side characters, especially the "comedic" sidekicks, nowadays are just that, SIDE characters. They have no effect on the plot whatsoever. But Perrito helped Goldi realize she already had it good, no need for any magic. And he helped Puss and Kitty become better people and face their pasts, which of course, moved the plot forward. It's really sweet to me that at the end, when his life was flashing before his eyes, Perrito was included. The little guy grew on Puss so much he found it worth to keep fighting for him too.
Fr, at first I thought he'd be annoying but I ended up loving him. And his character is so accurate to how a dog is. Optimistic, sweet, kinda dumb at times, friendly, and hyper.
I kind of shocked with Goldilocks' character. I thought her wish will be like "I want to be a bear" or something childish like that, because well, it's a kid-coded animation. Turned out she has a real feeling of alienation and how she believes that leaving everything behind is the only way. That hits the feel. Also, nice video. Don't let the (copyright) bastards grind you down!
I do wish the movie was a little longer and she got another scene. It would've done it wonders cause it was good but i did feel like it needed a scene or two
Went out to see this movie with my friends and we were blown away by the art style and characters! Crazy how that movie excelled beyond Velma in so so many ways
Here's one thing you missed. The Big Bad Wolf wears a dress and a bonnet. What Puss was facing was the personification OF DEATH. Which means he could look different to whoever sees him.
So many people have been referring to Death as the big bad wolf and it irks me for this exact reason. The big bad wolf already exists in Shrek's world and it certainly isn't this guy 😂
@@TheEdwardAlchemist I think the reason for that is because the trailers and promos for this movie were referring to him as “Big Bad Wolf, probably as to not spoil who he really was.
@@camrynbrewer2370 i dont think it ever called him that in the marketing material. Death is simply titled "Wolf" in the credits. This is why the theory stands that Death appeared to Puss as a Bounty Hunting Wolf, because he is the maniftestion of Puss' fears as a "fearless hero" cat. Little things like this are why i firmly believe that Death as portrayed in this movie is one of the best animated depictions of Death in the last 20 years. Absolutely phenominal anti-hero who dominted every scene. I havent been so legitimately intimidated by a character in cinema since Darth Vader.
To think I grew up watching every single movie with Puss in it then watching this movie, I cried from the amount of nostalgia I got from this amazing movie.
So my family unexpectedly lost two cats, literally two days in a row, about a week before I saw this movie. The first was an old Calico we decided to put down because her condition took such a turn for the worst, we didn't think she'd survive the weekend. The very next night my little sister's emotional support kitten died unexpectedly from a cause we STILL can't readily identify. I had forgotten going into this movie what it was about, but it was my boyfriend's birthday and we both really wanted to see this film. I cried at least three times. The ending message of the movie, to enjoy your life for what it is, savor every moment, and respect that death is a guarantee, came at a time I was about ready to give up on my life entirely. I was so deeply depressed and grief-stricken by the loss of our beautiful babies that I HAD to dive into escapism and denial just to function. I needed a movie to tell me things would be okay somehow and life was still important. It somehow made me feel like Koko and Jasper were going to be okay in the rainbow bridge. I like to imagine Koko is frolicking with her deceased dog brother Koa, and Jasper is playing and wrestling with the kitty sister Tinkerbell who he never got to meet. I'm so happy to see people talking about this movie and acknowledging what an impact it has on us. I'm still struggling, honestly. I'm taking things a day at a time. But messages like this are making it easier for me to remember why I want to keep going. Sorry for trauma dumping in a RUclips comment section haha, but thank you again for covering this movie!

I'm getting really fed up of people saying "Dreamworks is going on a renaissance" because the movies they released last year, but when Ruby Gillman came out suddenly everyone is saying "the Dreamworks renaissance is over" even though that's how it functions and not every movie they make are going to appeal to everyone.

My kids loved it (8 and 10). One of the best animated movies of the last years. The whole story is very well explained and therefore kids can understand what is evil.
Something that's only picked up on by adults from this movie, if at all, is the names of all of Perrito's locations in the dark forest after he touches the map. They're all references to death. "Pocket full of Posies" is from "Ring around the Rosie", a song about a plague back in older times. The term "Pocket full of Posies" is a reference to the pockets of flowers and herbs people would keep on themselves to ward off the illness. The "River of Relaxation" is simpler than that. Perrito was almost drown in a river. Having to gnaw through a sock with a rock in it to get back to the surface must not have been a very relaxing thing to do, but Perrito clearly has either gotten past that event, or is doing his best and taking it all in stride. EDIT: Other thing to note, it's said that as you drown, and water fills your lungs, it's not a painful feeling all the way through, and as you get closer to dying, it becomes more relaxing and is almost like falling asleep. The "Fields of Quick and Easy Solutions" is a possibly the darkest, and perhaps the easiest thing to argue as being a stretch, but it seems to be a reference to... ending one's own life. A lot of people have horrible, heavy, and tragic problems. Many people see death as an easy answer to those problems. A quick and easy solution.
The "pocket full of posies" refers to the practice of men carrying flowers in a pouch so the scent would filter out the smells of the world before deodorant was a thing. "River of relaxation" is most likely a reference to drowning out all the bad sounds of the world with more pleasant sounds. "Field of quick and easy solutions" is definitely a reference to suicide since suicide is deemed as a "quick and easy solution." Perrito is hurting a lot and unaware that he is.
I came out of this movie with a new perspective on life. This movie means so much to me because I can relate to so much of it. The nostalgia forest, the not valuing life like I should, having a very extreme fear of dying, etc. it’s just so beautiful. I can’t articulate just how amazing this movie really is.
That moment at the end with puss giving kitty the map and her being like "I don't need it anymore." is another one of the many things in the movie that can only work because of how perfectly it's done. The "I will never stop fighting for *this* life" line almost immediately followed by puss being like "Here. I'm sorry for making you feel betrayed, now make your wish, you deserve someone to trust." is one of the only ways they could have pulled it off without it feeling like one of those "And then they made up for no apparent reason and were in love again. The end." moments.
This movie is such a perfect family film. Literally everyone will enjoy it (unless you are a small child who gets scared easily), heck, the adults probably enjoy it more
The panic attack scene made cry so bad but not because I'm in a similar situation, I'm in my first year of high school and social anxiety has been a bitch to me. Watching it made me remember the time when I had my first panic attack and no one cared and how I wish I had someone like Perrito to help me. Never thought I'd relate to a scene from a movie about a Spanish cat but ngl I'm all for it
The animation, adult jokes, and themes are what make this film a good movie. Shrek was an adult film that was placed in the "for kids" category because it was a cartoon. however, Puss in Boots The last wish doesn't talk down to kids or degrade them with fart jokes and making things happy go lucky. It is the ideal film and just shows that DreamWorks is going back to its roots of out gunning Disney and making films that are enjoyable for everyone.
The Wolf is the Grim Reaper, after the last of the 9 lives. In the closing act, he informs Puss that he will see him again one day, & Puss acknowledges this, his ego finally in check. I left the Cinema, along with my Granddaughter, feeling that we had got our money’s worth out of this movie. It was well animated, the story & script were thoughtfully put together, & there was a good balance between the action & the more melancholy sequences, that kept things moving at a reasonable pace. The final payoff being Puss’s well earned redemption - we need more movies like this one.
I'm pretty sure she didn't mention it to avoid spoiling it. I never got the "oh shit" momemt because bu the time I got to watch it, it was common knowledge .-. It was still a great experience, just wish people didn't feel tye the need to constantly food feed information to everyone on the daily...
My theory for, Jack Horner! He's a stand in for Disney, he wants all the magic in the world! How I came to this conclusion is!: some of fairy tale objects were references to Disney's most popular movies, and yet, he is throwing them around, doesn't really care about them, and knows he can just get more if it doesn't work out, same with his employees, he can just replace them! Also I think the wand he pulled out, was a reference to Shrek 2's fairy godmother! At least I want to!
I’ve watched this movie like 12 times because of how amazing it is. DreamWorks has been KILLING IT with their movies, honestly I think I like them more then Disney and Pixar right now. You can see how they actually care about the project and experimenting, Sony’s also been making some movies and I have high hopes for them. Netflix is always a mixed bag with their animated movies 😬 Sea Beasts was great, but Extinct was AWFUL for example.
I've seen this movie multiple times now and each time, all of the children in the theater seemed to love it. One little girl started crying when the wolf first attacked Puss. Her mom was able to calm her down and afterwards she stated Goldilocks and the bears were her favorite characters. Im 34, and the wolf even had me on edge his entire screentime. I disagree that just because the movie features real life themes like mortality, dangers of greed, abandonment, depictions of panic attacks and near-death experiences, etc.. means it should be avoided by young minds. All of these themes are packaged in an (albeit intense) easily digestible cartoonish kind of way, while still being relatable and entertaining, is the perfect way to present these ideas to younger people. Contrast this with many of the awful, often problematic, and borderline racist/sexist tropes and ideals presented in recent films targeted at younger audiences (looking at you, Disney >.>) i think it is a breath of fresh air that DreamWorks is able to take authentic, original storytelling within animation seriously, while also conveying serious ideas that young and old can still learn from. If someone has no problem taking their kid to the latest Disney/Marvel movie I see absolutely no reason why they would keep them away from this gem where they might actually learn something useful in their lives, and still be able to enjoy the experience instead of being preached to the entire time, or worse, *bored*
I 100% agree with you!! More movies available to young audiences should be like this. Dreamworks did everything right with this movie, and I'm so grateful it's a film that plenty of children will have as parts of their childhoods!
2 reasons why people Puss In Boots The Last Wish don’t want kids to watch it: 1:Because of death he gives a scary presence and had the balls to show blood for the first time in dreamworks 2:The scenes of puss and kitty can be too intense
*Disney villian:When I was boy...(followed by a sympathetic backstory)* *Dreamworks villian:When I was a boy I didn't have much... except loving parents and a food empire that useless sort of stuff.*
4:06 well, depends on the kids... I remember having very big death anxieties when I was about 8. At some point I was super scared to go to sleep because I was afraid I wouldn't wake up in the morning...
I thought I was the only one to be scared to not wake up in the morning 😭😭😭 I was also a HUGE hypochondriac so the thought of death would send me into panic attacks before I even knew what a panic attack was
Yeah the panic attack scene is so good, like I feel like the best part is that perrito finds him, is worried for a moment, then immediately calms him down, then lets him explain why he was so terrified, then tells him like "I only have one life too, but I don't mind, because sharing it with you and kitty makes it special." in a very compassionate way.
Girl, I felt that double take at the beginning with Velma's jab at people wanting something of value 😉, and I greatly appreciate your sacrifice for watching it, that won't happening on my end. One thing that the Hollywood giants have successfully done is keep media types divided, just like they do with people. Japan is one nation that uses animation to tell various stories, it isn't just for children. Most people only think of the sexualized content when thinking of anime, however there are mountains of animated shows that tackle serious and thought provoking themes. If anything, I feel that Japanese animators and studios see the average individual as someone who deserves to be treated with respect and given good content, whereas Hollywood only sees us as sex crazed pigs with the IQ of a mushroom who consume anything they fart out.
I 100% agree with u! This movie just has many universal themes. It doesn't even matter what age u are because anyone can relate to Goldie's want for a real family and nostalgia, Kitty wanting someone to trust and her want to not be alone, Puss's fear of death and wanting to be a legend can all be themes the audience can relate to. I think this is just a movie for anyone, I'm a minor rn and I really related to Kitty and Puss's issues. I loved the themes and the adult jokes got me cackling. So yeah no it's not just a "kids" movie or "not for kids", it's just a masterpiece anyone can enjoy ^^
This movie flew under my radar, but, based *entirely* on your review, my interest is piqued, putting "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" immediately onto my must-watch list!
First time not being late! i didnt finish watching but ik for sure it will be great ^^ (and puss and boots last wish was so good, i even cried while watching it😭-)
We honestly need to take kids more seriously they don't just like colors and can understand and connect with deeper themes too ! Just look at the movies that marked your childhood, do you remember the bright colors meaningless ones or the deep well made ones ? Even if we didn't get it as well at the time we still connected to these
Did you forget to include the part when all of Jack's men kept Dumbly getting killed in all sorts of Black comedy ways like by a giant rose or by getting poked by unicorn horns?
I’m glad you were able to re-upload this. This is a great video and reaction and you explain the movie intelligently well. I love Puss in boots the lash wish and I think it’s one of the best movies of 2022. And it’s true that this movie and cartoons can be for all ages. I’m 26 and I thought this movie was amazing. It made me cry, especially the part when Puss has a panic attack. The ending make me cry too. This movie is a beautiful masterpiece
All the best cartoons things don’t talk down to kids they treat them as equals that is why Puss in boots is amazing and that is why spider verse works and a lot of old cartoons from the 90s. Kids may be stupid sometimes but not all the time.
@@etherealtb6021 do you ever watch Cinderella? Evil stepmother was so scary sometimes, even know she is just a human. Something like that was in other old Disney cartoons, and not only Disney. I don't remember much, but I'm sure that something nonhuman creepy beings was in so many cartoons as a villain
I think it's super ignorant that hollywood wants to mock adults for liking animation when adults make the animation, animation is an art medium. And there's so much adult animation out there. They need to stop shaming the younger gens into being old, boring, adults who do nothing as old people but stare into the abyss.
It's the perfect balance between a kid's movie and an adult's movie. The pacing is just right that kids won't be too bored and adults won't be annoyed by the ADHD; the voices, design of characters, set pieces, and music are just right for kids to have something visually or audibly creative to look at while still appealing to adults; and the universal themes are things kids can understand (but not fully appreciate until they're adults) and resonates deeply with adults. Puss 2 feels like it comes from the golden age of animation.
14:26 in the Directors commentary for that scene they said that perrito doesn’t really know what those words mean and they’re just words that he heard during his life
I’m a 27 year old guy and this is my favorite movie of all time. It’s just so well made in every single way and I’ve seen it 13 times. Also, this video has made me love it even more, which I didn’t think was possible, lol.
I knew the goldilocks and three bears tale from childhood, and i burst into laughs when my friend during their first scene in the movie said: you know what this tale is about? I only know SOMEBODY TOUCHA MY SPAGHET!
The power of friendship is deffinitly one of the layers, but to me under that layer is the fact that Puss finally got a life he could fight for instead of always being on the run, always chasing the next high, something to keep him as everyones favorite hero, hes finally okay with just being Puss, who was a dog named perrito and hopefully future gf he calls kitty, also while ealier he was definitely upset from being told he needs to stop, when he was drinking milk its like we got a glimpse of the real him, when no ones cheering his name or asking for a signature, just alone and honestly kinda sad
As a culture I think we are prone to misunderstanding children's entertainment. Children seek to emulate adults and are more likely to enjoy more mature content than we give them credit for. Of course there are traumatic subjects they shouldn't see, such as pornographic material, gore, and obscene behaviors like torture and even explicit swearing-but we don't need to "dumb down" lasting themes and humor for the sake of children who don't rely upon it to have fun. PIB:TLW is an example on par with The Hunchback of Notre Dame in my eyes, where writers can trust their audience to engage with a story and revel in its art as well as its message.
Couldn't have said it better myself. It's like adults today forgot when they were kids too! As a young teen, I'd have absolutely loved this film the same way I do now. I was always fascinated by darker, more mature topics being placed into movies like this. It wouldn't have gone over my head at all 💙
You know one thing I love about the movie that I haven’t seen anyone talk about? PUSS’ GRAMMAR IS AMAZING!! In the Netflix animated series, Puss’ grammar was, to me, spoiler warning by the way, absolutely atrocious. I honestly feel so bad for Eric Bauza.
Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is an older style of western animated "kids movie," harkening back to a time when western animation, Including Disney films, really was meant for all ages and wasn't just made for kids.
"You know what? You guys are jerks! Which is very conflicting for me!" is such a powerful line. He didn't even realize he was growing until he met himself and realized wow I sucked.
Yesss!! No one talks about that line! Puss finally experienced how awful he was as a person and actually felt divided with himself. He was able to admit that he was a jerk and step away from that.
Read in a comment that they rewrite the entire script when after Antonio Banderas had a heart attack. Which I think just fueled the passion he poured into Puss as a character. He brought it to life because he had an experience to draw from that gave Puss such authenticity. Kids will understand very little beyond the stunbing visuals and a few funny moments here and there. The adults, on the other hand, will get hit hard with an entire spectrum of emotions. This film has somethings that pretty much every adult will relate to. I just cannot believe they chose this package to convey such a message and how well it was executed.
Nothing establishes the the fiesta Puss is hosting is a birthday party. It's "Jack" Horner, not "James" Horner. JACK is considered the main villain, not Puss' male ego.
Why underestimate the role of Wolf, who is ACTUALLY DEATH, the real deal? He's not just 'another villain' in this movie, and in fact he's Puss' true inner demon as well
Here's to hoping that this time people get to see your video all the way to the end, instead of somebody way above your pay grade trying to shut it down, however they can.

Just watched this and loved it! I found your review shortly after and I agree with everything you said! Dreamworks still has their magic in storytelling.
I can't help but think this movie is so much better because of them not saying certain things and going for 100% story telling by visuals. It's absolutely brilliant.
A great review Brittney! A lot of insight conveyed very succinctly. Thanks! This movie is created with a lot of heart, art and craft. And the attention to detail in every single respect and layer is astonishing. I also appreciated how they went subtle in places where they could have hammed it up or been more obvious and ruined it (e.g. when Puss had the panic attack and Perro (thereafter Perrito) intuitively and gently lays his head on Puss's tummy). I've seen it four times and intend to see it a fifth!
Thanks, Brittney. You are one smart cookie. I enjoyed your analysis of a film I really enjoyed. Puss had big time thrills and Avatar just dragged on with violence and death all over. There didn’t seem to be much in the way of redemption. But Puss really pulled it off.
Thank you! Of the dozens (or hundreds) of videos about this movie, yours is the finest. Your analysis of both the techniques and the themes of the movie are, by far, the most incisive yet. I'll be watching your videos, sharing this one, and adding my sub to your growing list. 😊
I love movies for kids only and ones for everyone. I think a lot of people underestimate how intelligent kids actually are and themes they find relatable. Kids are learning the concept of death or already well into the age range for this movie. Panic attacks hit at a variety of ages with mental health. Having a pet that works as support. Fear in relationships. Etc. It touches on themes that anyone can find *something* they vibe with. And having am evil villain just be evil was so nice xD Not everyone needs tragedy to be a jerk lol
This is a reupload with a few edits so hopefully RUclips doesn’t take this one down!

Absolutely
That's a great way of putting it. Baby probably never realized how much of an outcast he was making her feel. Well done of that explanation 👏
I can totally see parents begging their children to watch this on family movie night.

My parents have to deal with so many movies that only really appeal to kids, so I was excited to recommend this to them 😆 and there's cats!

"The real villain was Puss' ego" and also Jack! He was enjoying every second of his bs 🤣
bs?
@@hatsuneyuri bs means bull shit
@@shadowwolf7660 oh thx
@@hatsuneyuri no problemo!
I’m trying not too! Thanks!
I do wish the movie was a little longer and she got another scene. It would've done it wonders cause it was good but i did feel like it needed a scene or two
Not to mention she was basically parroting what Baby said about her not being a bear near the end.
I saw it in theaters and it was worth it. Death is up there with Lord Shen as my favorite dreamworks villains
He’s a great villain!
And he's scary AF! Too much for little kids, IMHO!
Went out to see this movie with my friends and we were blown away by the art style and characters! Crazy how that movie excelled beyond Velma in so so many ways
The art style is amazing!
@@TheEdwardAlchemist Absolutely not. It's the most ignorant thing spread about this movie.
I think it's to not spoil as much of the movie.
To think I grew up watching every single movie with Puss in it then watching this movie, I cried from the amount of nostalgia I got from this amazing movie.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sorry for trauma dumping in a RUclips comment section haha, but thank you again for covering this movie!
omg i'm so sorry. i lost my cat jan 27 and saw this movie 2 days later expecting nothing from it, i just wanted to see cats. it was exactly what i needed. saw it again the next day with my fiancé and cant stop thinking about it. it's everything grieving cat parents should see ❤🐈🕊

I tell you, DreamWorks is making a comeback. Everyone said it when Bad Guys released.
I never heard about Bad Guys being released, I watched it on a plane because it was the most interesting thing available
I was not expecting my random plane movie to be that good.. which is funny since I’ve been having good plane movie experiences lately

"Field of quick and easy solutions" is definitely a reference to suicide since suicide is deemed as a "quick and easy solution."
Perrito is hurting a lot and unaware that he is.
I came out of this movie with a new perspective on life. This movie means so much to me because I can relate to so much of it. The nostalgia forest, the not valuing life like I should, having a very extreme fear of dying, etc. it’s just so beautiful. I can’t articulate just how amazing this movie really is.
Death was a great antagonist, I don't consider him a villain because well Death isn't a villain. Jack was the villain.
Never thought I'd relate to a scene from a movie about a Spanish cat but ngl I'm all for it
ALSO SORRY IF I WROTE THIS COMMENT HORRIBLY WRONG, I'M FLUID IN THE LANGUAGE BUT I GOT NERVOUS AF WHILE WRITING THE COMMENT😭😭😭😭
I know how you feel. My highschool years were hell on earth.
Panic attacks scene trigger me so bad I experience them badly
I did notice the framerate but the reason of why is so subtle. Incredible
This comment is completely underrated! Holy cow, I see it.
Why doesn’t this have a million upvotes!?! Holy hot damn!
2 reasons why people Puss In Boots The Last Wish don’t want kids to watch it:
1:Because of death he gives a scary presence and had the balls to show blood for the first time in dreamworks
2:The scenes of puss and kitty can be too intense
*Disney villian:When I was boy...(followed by a sympathetic backstory)*
*Dreamworks villian:When I was a boy I didn't have much... except loving parents and a food empire that useless sort of stuff.*
4:06 well, depends on the kids... I remember having very big death anxieties when I was about 8. At some point I was super scared to go to sleep because I was afraid I wouldn't wake up in the morning...
I thought I was the only one to be scared to not wake up in the morning 😭😭😭 I was also a HUGE hypochondriac so the thought of death would send me into panic attacks before I even knew what a panic attack was
Yeah I feel like in this she is underselling kids a bit
So yeah no it's not just a "kids" movie or "not for kids", it's just a masterpiece anyone can enjoy ^^
the best kids content is stuff that still holds up for adults, they can handle more than some think and know when they're being talked down to
Yesss
This movie flew under my radar, but, based *entirely* on your review, my interest is piqued, putting "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" immediately onto my must-watch list!
First time not being late! i didnt finish watching but ik for sure it will be great ^^ (and puss and boots last wish was so good, i even cried while watching it😭-)
If they ever continue, I hope they explore Kitty's loneliness more. I know they have to focus on Puss, but I want more backstory on Kitty.
It's a kids movie. Just a good one. So good, that you can watch it when you grow up and still like it, and also found something new
With DEATH as the villain? IDK. Would've given me nightmares as a kid!
@@etherealtb6021 do you ever watch Cinderella? Evil stepmother was so scary sometimes, even know she is just a human. Something like that was in other old Disney cartoons, and not only Disney. @@maplered5042 She didn't bother me as a kid, neither did the Wicked Which of the West (who terrified my broher). Nope. I was scarred by Death! 😍
I'd say this was an animation more aimed at teens and more mature audiences what with the multiple deaths, talk of death and trauma etc.
I really appreciate you talking about the frame rate! As an animations enthusiast it made my heart happy. Will you watch the inevitable Shrek 5?
Really nice video!
You put everything I love about this movie into words
Thank you’
This movie frickin’ moved me to tears several times… though secret tears… because my kids were there… but dang! This movie was amazing!!!
Ngl I thought kitty would want her claws back
I feel like ur underestimating kids ability to perceive movies and jokes and deeper concepts
I really like your edits, they actually provide a better flow and style (I love the fake TV room, it's so cute!)
Hey Brittany love your vids looking forward to Velma season 2 ❤❤❤❤
Me too!
I knew the goldilocks and three bears tale from childhood, and i burst into laughs when my friend during their first scene in the movie said: you know what this tale is about? I only know SOMEBODY TOUCHA MY SPAGHET!
I wish that RUclips wouldn't just make Puss in Boots clips "RUclips Kids" content, disabling the comments and stuff
Yes
Couldn't have said it better myself. It's like adults today forgot when they were kids too!
As a young teen, I'd have absolutely loved this film the same way I do now. I was always fascinated by darker, more mature topics being placed into movies like this. It wouldn't have gone over my head at all 💙
I truly enjoyed this! Another banger!! Love from GA
You're right about that, it's for everyone. So everyone in all age units can enjoy😊
This was one of the best films I’ve seen since I don’t know when. Very clever story elements, relatable, touching, meaningful cinema. Chapeau 🫡
I love movies like this because it has great rewatch value. You can watch at different stages of your life and have a different experience
He's not just 'another villain' in this movie, and in fact he's Puss' true inner demon as well
I heard a line once that perfectly fits Puss' interaction with his former lives...
The guy I was before wouldn't hang out with the guy I am now.
The basic fear of death, the panic attack and the badassity of Death were amazing
You got the video back up, Hooray!
Yay! 🎉

thank you for mentioning the frame rate! I haven't seen anyone else comment on it and I thought it was such a nice touch
I clicked this so fast in case it gets taken down
Hopefully it won’t
The wolf was NOT a bounty hunter he was actually DEATH(like the Grim Reaper) that’s why he kinda had an Anubis look to him 😅
I watched this movie about 2 days ago and I gotta say, I really liked it. Death especially was rather cool. When I saw the action scenes I was in awe
Here's to hoping that this time people get to see your video all the way to the end, instead of somebody way above your pay grade trying to shut it down, however they can.
Yes! I’m really hoping!
6:57 those themes aren’t too dark for kids. Have you ever seen the secret of NIMH or the first land before Time? Kids watch Batman
After seeing your review I am totally going to watch this. I found you through your Pinocchio video and really enjoy your take on shows and of course animation. I have always enjoyed that medium and I am happy to see others do as well.
Ok, this is much better observation than most RUclipsrs explaining the plot, most of them were just recaping the story of the movie and forgets/ignores the character's perspective
(Sorry if I keep commenting on your videos, I just like watching some stuff from people I found interesting)
If a kids movie only appeals to kids than it can't truly be great.
Can I just say it makes me chuckle everytime they say "perito" XD cause thats usually an investigation Police unit
PSA: The three little pigs and the big bad wolf have already been established in the shrek universe.
DEATH IS NOT THE BIG BAD WOLF!
Loved this movie, it was definitely more for the adults but colorful enough for kids to still watch
was velma trying to imply stoners only watch cartoons? every single disney adult still watches cartoons but i highly doubt a venn diagram between them and 420 celebrators exists
Yeah it’s an outdated stereotype
I love your review! I finally understand what everyone means with the animation being at 12 or 24 frames and now it all makes sense thanks to you!
What I love about this movie is that it perfectly, time after time, presents the rule of three. Present idea. Reinforce it. Conclude.
Perfect.
you kind of completely missed the point of the battle against the wolf (and jack horner) by saying it was just the power of friendship though lol
Love your videos keep up the good work!
Glad you like them!
