In 1972 my dad paid 3k for a brand new Super Beetle. I saw that shift pattern on your vid and it brought me back to 1976. Thank you for showcasing that Beetle. I enjoy your vids and test drive. Well done bud!
We had an older couple that drove a red beetle back in the day. One time sticks in my memory. They had a knob on the steering wheel. Coming out of an icy parking lot uphill onto Main Street, he gunned it to get traction. Lifted the thing off the ground, and as they hit clear pavement, he grabbed hold of the knob and made a sharp left, tires squealing as they drove off. They were in their 80s. Funniest thing I ever saw.😂
I had a '62 Bug while I was stationed at DLI, Monterey CA in 1975, and a 1971 Bug in southern NH in 1979. Loved them both. The '62 had a manually operated sunroof, and a top speed of 60 mph...a little challenging when going to San Francisco Francisco on weekend furloughs!
Hi Nick this has to he one of the cleanest Beatles that I have seen in a very long time. Back in about 1965-66 I learned how to drive in two Beatles a 1959 and a 1961 in the cowpastute on our farm. Great memories I will keep forever. Thank you for the time travel back to my childhood days. Tom up in Canada in the Maritimes at the NB-NS border
Unmolested engine is a plus...by 73 they started adding smog equipment. After that, the troublesome Bosch fuel injection, which is why the later models fell out of favor
I drove a '69 for a couple of years when I first got married and gave my wife my Camaro. Very dependable. Would go anywhere and drive on anything. Just too small for me. Oils seals on the cooler can be a problem though.
I learned to drive in a '58 Volkswagen convertible. 60 mph down hill with a tail wind! A great car for a first time driver. We never had gas for the lawnmower because I was always putting in the VW.
Say you were 12 , and in a bad mood ...what better than to barrow a Beatle and go for a ride . Driving responsibly for the entire day , enjoying the country side ,and then returning it neat and clean and unnoticed 😮 don't try this at home kids 🎉😊
Cute lil Beetle, very nicely restored, perfect for a Herbie replica, just add the numbers lol. I just didn't like how they shifted felt like the shifter was attached to a long rubberband, and that windshield was right in your face, other than that they are a fun car to drive.
I had a 72 super beetle .. refused to start in the rain, I had to cover the engine compartment with a plastic bag before the rain began! Fun to drive though! I don’t think this is a ‘72 though. Mine had reflectors along side the rear break light / turn signal housing. I paid $2,700. Out the door for it in New York!
Sweet little bug. I was big on VW back in the 70's/80's, had a 311, 411, 3 bugs and a Karmann Ghia. Beat most to the ground, smashed a couple up and gave away the Karmann Ghia......so sad.
I would like you to know that you got a steal for this VW today. OK lets go, she was mid line of 71 & 72, but that's not the way she was born # 1 the spare tire worked the window washer for the next 3 years, and that is were it got pressure to work the window washer of that day. For this Bug has been customized of the day. # 2 the rear lights on a 71 were smaller that a 72 and then came 73 the lights were larger and more easy to see. For I boult a new 73 for 1500 hundred, but when my old man saw me drop a 911 Porcha and a 5 speed in it, then it had blown him away. For I left in late 73 for Nam at the time. For I did not retune home until 1980 with 4 bitter conflicts under my hide of the day. For that was not of the years that I had left to go. But Maple Motors has a real steal for this Bug today. For up here around Maryland and DC this Bug sells for a good Bug at 19 to 25 K today and that is no lie today. For 25 in the city and 35 on the highway. For they were always know as the peoples car of the day. For I have rebuilt many of them and they are still a great car today.
this looks like a ' beetle ' ....flat front windshield; ' super beetles' have curved front wind screens; have owned a couple including a 1972; fantastic cars!
It is a Super Beetle, You can plainly see the McPhearson Strut front suspension. I believe the curved windshields came a little later, 73 or so. 71 was the first super, with a flat windshield. I had one.
Looks nice. I drove one of these when l lived in Germany a couple of decades ago so not sure why all the enthusiasm? It didn't do anything well. Was slow, couldn't stop, didn't handle, wasn't good in snow, sand, or mud (though was easy to push), parts were expensive (even in Germany), loud, everything rattled, prone to rust, not safe, no leg room/trunk space, plus it was very cold natured, and didn't even get that great of gas mileage compared to other compact cars. One of these as a dune buggy/sand rail - yes, I get that - but as a daily I'd much rather have an older Golf GTI or Audi then one of these.
Don’t go good in snow? They do better in the snow than any other rear wheel drive ever made. Not quite fair to compare to front wheel drive. They were designed for affordability and simplicity and more of them were sold than any other car in history. To compare them to modern cars is redundant.
@@brianw8963 If you say so. As mentioned I drove one for over 3 years in Germany, wouldn't dare drive it in snow/icy conditions without chains. Would much prefer an AWD Audi but even the couple of other VW's I had (a Golf and a Golf GTI) handled much better in the snow particularly stopping.
@@brianw8963 No offense taken and I get it. I am a die hard fan of the Nissan hardbody pickups from the 80s. I do love the old school VW vans though - can't believe the new ones start at over $60K.
Great Beetle ....should sell really fast. These older models I think are the best compared to the new version they came out with which is just hideous and is nothing like a Beetle at all . They should not have done such a drastic change in the style in my opinion...but I know nothing I'm just a customer.
@ They are air cooled but have what is called “ heater boxes” on the exhaust headers. A fan on the engine shroud driven from the rear of the generator circulates the heated air into the interior of the vehicle . They actually did have optional gasoline heaters that worked just like a fuel oil furnace and were mounted to what would be considered the firewall on regular vehicles, but they were problematic, and a bit dangerous to say the least.

Great clean 72 the carb is a very common issue it's a bit rich but a 9.7 outta ten
My first car in 1971 was a ‘69 Beetle! Such a cool car. I was so thankful to have one! Nothing like it today!!!! Those really were the days!
Bought a new one in 1973....1st year of curved windshield.......2604.00 out the door. Top speed 89 mph.
First car 1968 convertible, wrecked front end, dad knew a body guy and he sold it to me for the cost of the body work and a paint job! So much fun!
I'm not surprised this one sold fast---the market for Beetles has never really went away, and this one is a great deal
The best economy car ever made! Id grab this one in a heartbeat!
So freakin awesome 🔥 this thing had to be restored at some time in its life it is super clean! Oh and thanks nick I‼️ got slugged by the wife 🤜🏼😂✌🏼

My first car was a 1966 VW Beetle. Blue with a white interior. Loved that car.
I drove a '69 for a couple of years when I first got married and gave my wife my Camaro. Very dependable. Would go anywhere and drive on anything. Just too small for me. Oils seals on the cooler can be a problem though.
Had a 64 before I got drafted very cheap to drive and maintain nice car will sell fast great for your hot rod kid can't get in too much trouble
What a beauty, shes clean and tidy, cheap price no Wonder it sold fast ,thanks honest Nick stay cool 😊😊😊😊
I learned to drive in a '58 Volkswagen convertible. 60 mph down hill with a tail wind! A great car for a first time driver. We never had gas for the lawnmower because I was always putting in the VW.
Your name caught my eye
I had a 63, 36 hp. I could drive it wide open, and couldn't kill it. It would run a breathtaking 65 mph.😂
I recall when in high school, we tried to see how many we could pack into one, on the way to the movies. Good times!
One more thing a Super Beetle did not have a flat windshield, but a covered and not a flat and that is the difference between the two.
Say you were 12 , and in a bad mood ...what better than to barrow a Beatle and go for a ride . Driving responsibly for the entire day , enjoying the country side ,and then returning it neat and clean and unnoticed 😮 don't try this at home kids 🎉😊
Loved the heaters in those and the roar of the engine.😏
A buddy had one in 77 would pull thru snow like a truck..!!!! I believe his was a 65 bug ..
One of the switches may be for heat...just guessing tho...👍🏾
That's a cool little bug, great price too. That will make someone happy

Who remembers Herbie the Love Bug? 😅
Didn’t know about how low geared they are wow 😅 great shape though
My older brother had a 61 bug. I borrowed it one day and got stopped for speeding. lol
These are cute cars. My dad had a 71 beetle when I was a kid.

I love VW bugs I had a convertible and I absolutely loved it I wish I still had it. And Nick that price is very good
Great car and of course, video! German engineering is second to none.
Undercarriage shots are hilarious! Floor pan floor pan floor pan...engine!
I have been looking over your car inventory for a long time now Nick. I'm waiting for the day that a 1963 Buick LeSabre comes in or a wildcat
Not exactly a muscle car but cool anyway. I learned to drive stick by driving my brother's wrecked bug around the yard.
Sweet little bug. I was big on VW back in the 70's/80's, had a 311, 411, 3 bugs and a Karmann Ghia. Beat most to the ground, smashed a couple up and gave away the Karmann Ghia......so sad.

Appreciate your insight and knowledge about these cars, sounds like you really know your stuff.
This is a great looking Beetle! These are hard to find in this nice shape! It'll sell quickly
Yep you are correct, it sold pretty fast. Thanks for watching
Great Looking Volkswagen Bug
As a sumner county local, I saw this vehicle before the video. Good video Nick.
Thank you very much
@ No problem. We look around pretty much every time we go to Red Rooster Cafe next door. You have a pretty cool place.
My '85 Dodge Aries K has 3 more payments then will be free and clear
I love these alot but can't drive a stick 😢❤I even have hotwheels collection of VW ❤
perfect drver could be daily driver outstanding
Looks like a sweet little bug!!
Love the VW 😊
Sweet!! Bug🐞 I'd love to have a Bug make it my daily driver 😊
good looking old Beatle that will go quick! that under carriage is very clean
this looks like a ' beetle ' ....flat front windshield; ' super beetles' have curved front wind screens; have owned a couple including a 1972; fantastic cars!
That's what I said, I owned a 73' SB & mine did have a curved windshield.

That is not a super beetle....
1971 super beetle has a flat windshield in USA. Macpherson struts , hood and front fenders different shape, louvers 0:41 under front fenders
@@stlpny56 You didn’t see the front suspension? That’s what designates a super beetle.
Sale pending, when checked website yesterday
I remember those things 😂😂😂
Pretty cool 😎
Nice ole bug Nick. 😊

very nice little bug nick super clean
OK, you need to put #53 😂
I googled it to see how much hp a 72 super Beatle has, 60hp idk if this has been built any, but 60 would be fine with me 😊
I used to have a 74 Super Beetle.
I learned how to drive in a 73 vw beetle

Yep I agree
Great for dune buggy
I made a dune buggy out of mine, shortened it a foot
You smoking the good stuff with that price
Yep , it sold for asking price as soon as it was posted
Dang! Man, some people have deeep pockets. That think, you made a kill8ng son@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate
It's getting harder to find them bug's in good condition..!!!! Does that one have a gas heater since it's air cooling.?
No, it does not. Most think the heater systems don’t work, but they work well if everything is correct, which is usually not the case.
@brianw8963 I sure there not liquid cooled and the heaters were. Gas or electric so I thought. !!!!

I see why these will float now.
These originally was built for the SS German soldiers. 1937 I believe was first public available..!!!!
The horns gonna work it's German
Flat windshield, not a super beetle.
front end is not curved either...Karman steering wheel too!
It most certainly is a SB.
Fahrvergnügen 🚗
are you kindling me 12g thats super cheap for nice bug .looks great waiting for video
Good price for sure, even though it’s a super . And it actually has good floor pans!
Hey Nick, Are you sure it's a super beetle?
Yes
Ted Bundy’s car!
Hahahahahahahh
I thought the same. Lol
Yup that's it 😂
I would take those ugly things off of the headlights but other than that I want it.
Herbie!
It's already sold so why post the video now.
Just when it was scheduled to come out , customer wants the video as well
Oh ok I understand that, thanks for getting back with me Nick
I'd walk barefoot before I'd ever be seen in a VW Beetle.
😂
I'd walk barefoot on broken glass before riding in most modern day cars.
That’s the last decent year 73 was ugly
Das Bug.
Listed to cheap should be 19,900
Volkswagen was a horrible car. $11,000 😮
Why?
