Extremely interesting and very informative! This was SUPPOSED to have occurred a year ago here in Memphis Shelby County Tennessee. The contractor, Ameresco is the company hired for the conversion to switch out around 77,300 High Pressure Sodium streetlights to LED lights. The conversion hasn’t gone very well at all. The numerous high mast fixtures described in this video haven’t even been touched so far. We sure could use the expertise of Traffic Light Doctor here to get our conversion back on track.
Thanks brother! Im just now getting more into the longer format of videos and really enjoying it! A lot more to come with improvements thanks for the feedback!!
we did some of these here in SC not long ago for a city. our poles came out to be 126 ft, and we ended up having to send one of our guys up there to fix one of the cables after final installation. yall stay safe out there!
Year ago when I saw this in person. I thought what a great idea. Esp in spots that have power but is not really ideal to bring in a truck with a crazy long extension or in some cases a crane with a bucket.
Thanks for doing this video! We use these exact style of lights on all of our 4+ lane highways here in Ontario. I always wondering how they worked (I had an idea, but it's nice to see it in practice). Question: So are the lights powered all the way to the top via power cable or do they connect into a harness when you lock them in place (which then gives them power)??? I had a hard time understanding that last step in powering the lights at the top. Thanks again for doing this video - very well done!
Nice I drop Hi- Masts in the UK that 90 degree locking mechanism is a good idea Our Hi Masts have 2 steel cables and the ring at the top is held in place by the tension on the wire ropes Your method seems a much better idea Who makes those Hi Masts you use Thanks for the video
Do you work for the state DOT or 3rd party co? Here in AZ, ADOT does all traffic lights on freeway, city street lights are city employees, and traffic signals are done by a third party company. But all streetlights on the freeways, the ones between lanes and high poles alike this are all ADOT employees setting and installing and maintaining.
where is this on I 10 i might see it when going to my grandparents EDIT: i found where it is i am going to see this when going to my grandparents house
This was super awesome to watch. If you can, definitely incorporate more from Anthony if hes willing.
I’m trying to get him to start his own channel! 😂
Always wondered how those high mast lights worked! Thanks for sharing that!

Way cool! I love tech like this, mundane to others but fascinating to us! Thank you Gentlemen!
I worked in ITS for a few years. They would lower those high mast lights before a major hurricane here in Florida. .
That started after Hurricane Charley bent a bunch of them over at the 30-40' mark.

Awesome video love that you and Anthony are in this video keep up the good work
This video shows the importance for driving safely through construction zones
한국은 고속도로 휴게소마다 설치되어 있고.. 큰도로에 차량이 분기되는 곳은 기본으로 설치되어 있어요.. 크기도 엄청 크더군요.
Will there be a future video of a older HPS high mast light? I'd love to see how those work.

@@NeilHyndman they are fed from the ground up to power the lights!
Excellent video Glad I watched
Interesting design, almost over the top. We don't have those in Europe, each service is a bucket lift.
Very common in the UK on motorway/highway junctions and interchanges. Also very common in large car parks.

I’ve always wondered how those things are put up and how the lights are changed

Hi, How do you check the verticality of the light mast - In case if the pole seems a little tilted ..
Can y'all come to Northern Virginia? We have several high masts that need to be converted to LED 😅
Cool!
Wow, I'm here because my light won't lower. It's stuck at the top. Any advice?
Any specs or info on those lights?
So sad to see those old orange HPS fixtures go
I swear I just saw this footage in another video that was a bit longer? Am I confused?
