have you tried putting a plant under it? Wondering if i can use a few of these in my back garden garden to give a little extra light in early season where we have cloudy days alot.
Bought two of these for my church more than a year ago. One is still good. The other fell down during a storm...the solar panel was shattered. One is attached to an old flag pole about 12-15' up and the one that fell was attached to a metal building. So much easier than running electrical and they did/do a fantastic job of illuminating the parking lot.
For those that are worried about neighbors you can set most of these to motion detection then lights. I live in the country and set mine to motion detection. That way it stays charged even through cloudy rainy weather. I got mine to light up my yard so even if the power goes out i have a lit yard to get to my storm cellar. Amazingly the solar panels have survived the hail storms even.
Hello Sir, I bought this exact same light and I’m trying to mount mine to wood also. How do I get those bolts in the wood? Do I pre drill? I didn’t see you pre drill. I’m a mom and I have no clue what I’m doing. I’ve never done anything like this before. What is the part on your drill that is screwing the bolt in? Any help you can give me would really help. Thank you so much for this video.
I didnt mention it in the video but I used lag bolts to attach the light to the post. You can take the smaller bracket with you to the hardware store to get lag bolts that will fit the holes on the lights. Basically a lag bolt is a big screw. I also predrilled the holes where the lag bolts would go and I used 1 washer between the bolt head and the wooden post.
THANK YOU so much for the reply! I’m going going to Ace tonight when I get off so I can get the bolts. And I’ll be sure to pre drill and use washers. Thank you!
It took less than 24hours actually and he walked over and thanked me for putting it up. He said he wish I would have rotated it towards his house 45* to give more light to his property. Been up ever since.
Hey buddy I just bought an EZGO TXT and have a question. I know that isn’t what this is about but where’s the best place to communicate with you on that? Been watching all your stuff for weeks soaking it up. Thanks in advance.
2 questions: 1- After one year, is it still working (Something you don't expect from Chinese products) and what are your opinions of it in the long run (Are batteries holding as new and charging ever goes zero or not holding right?) 2- Are you legally allowed to use a neighbor's fence for your own use? And did you get their permission (Courtesy) to put the light next to their windows? Thanks
Dude there's no way in hell that has a 15 to 20 KWH battery LOL.. That would be more battery than a Chevy Volt. Thanks for sharing. Looks cool. God Bless
@@RBallarddesigns Sorry you have no clue what your saying. KWH stands for 1000 watts for 1 hr of run time. Saying that that battery in this light has 15 or 20 KWH is not close. @@jnthomae I have been. I put one at my mother in laws house as well. I have another I need to put somewhere now but I dont know where to put it. I thought about removing the powered light on my shop and using this instead. I was riding not long ago and rode past a used car lot, they had probably 25 of the solar powered lights. It just makes sense when it cost what it does to buy power wire or to have someone run it.
This video is a year old but if this is something you want or need then check with your power company. We have Appalachian power I'm in VA but they serve multiple states. Tell them you want a dusk tl dawn light or pole light etc. They will come and set a full size power pole with a light. Then they will run a wire straight off their lines so it's not pulling from your meter. **They will not run the wire over a house or building but that's okay because they can run it however they need and it's the yellowish bulb but it lights up our entire property. What about when the bulb goes out? They come and replace it for free. So what happens is we get 2 electril Bill's but in the same envelope together. Let's say your main account is 00000000001 $ however much your light bill is Pole account number is 00000000009 Then our pole light is like $12 but it might be up to like $13 now. We have had it for like 12-15 years. So my point is it's easy and you don't have to do anything but pay your bill and I don't know how much electricity a 12 hr day light would use but let's say its $15 a month well that's 0.50 cents a day😂 not to mention the giant power pole, light fixture, light bulb, and maintenance. So my point is its crazy cheap. Yes I know over the last 15 years we have paid alot but it's no different if we gotta set our own pole, run our own wire, buy our own light fixtures and bulbs and replace fixtures and bulbs when needed, as well as pay for the power used. We had big dusk to dawn lights when I was younger and it's a headache. The poles break and the fixtures only last a few years especially the sensors and bulbs. I hope this helps someone in the future because for whatever reason AEP doesn't advertise this. You legit have to call and say "hey do yall install dusk to dawn lights and poles"😂
Still pluggin away just fine. The only time it doesnt work is when there is an overcast through out the day. This past week we had debby the hurricane/tropical storm and didnt get much sunshine. Yesterday was the first day we had sunshine again and it was super bright last night!
@kensimon4478 it gets a charge all day from the Sun and still won't run 4 and a 1/2 hours and then it's very low light for about an hour and then. It goes off.
I've done a couple video of these light review/installs. I did 2 on my property, 1 at my parents and one at my mother in laws. All 4 are working great still. I was very skeptical at first but the only time the light doesnt shine is when there isnt any sun during the day during a rain storm or overcast. However Other than that it only takes a bright day to charge the internal battery the following night.
No issues with the wind on this light but issues with hawks sitting on top of the light at my mother in laws property with the same set up. It’s a 4x4x12 bolted to the fence.
@Fentertainment ah ok cool. i just installed a 16ft 4x4 for my cousin I used 2 8' 4x4 post with each 4' into the ground 24" diameter and 4ft depth filled with cement. then I bolted the 16ft to the 4ft that is Bove ground from the 8ft 4x4s. 1 4x4 is on the back and the other on the side of the 16ft. I figured that would be more than enough to support the light even on stormy/windy days.

I would have used 4×6 not the 4x4 post you used, less cutting . Added weight, so also put the post in the ground with some concrete
Idk if you respond to your comments but incase you do how is this light holding up a year later?
