Lose one and then buy another just to find the original later. I get the 940 insanity. Best knife design ever for my daily use.
My green 940 that I’ve had for 6 years looks like this. Only I’ve gone through maybe 5-7 omega springs. Upgraded to aftermarket ones and haven’t had an issue in over a year👍
I broke one of my original springs and replaced them with ones i made from memory wire i got from guitar center. Haven't had a broken spring in over 4 years now.
I love my benchmade axis locks, but i have had a standard crooked river break an omega spring, and i have a 940-1701 that currently has a broken omega spring that im waiting on sending back. I just answered a similar question in reply to “Brandon.” In short, no, it is not the same. The springs in the knife in this video are approximately 15 years old. They’ve been abused and neglected. No sign of failure anytime soon.
I bought a used 943 for $162 a few months ago but it had much less wear. I probably would have paid $200 because it has that super sharp clip point blade.

I will tell you what happened to that knife. Somewhere in that knife's history, it switched hands from a person who originally bought it and knew what that knife was. And I am sure the original knife owner took very well care of it even if it was used hard. It then changed hands to somebody who didn't know what the knife was. They saw it as an ugly weird looking knife and pretty much dogged it and then discarded it. It probably was left outside or lost for lack of care. Finally, if you do break a spring, the lock will still function in an emergency situation - jam a stick in the slot to hold the Axis bar forward, and you have a fixed blade. End of rant.
I've always liked the 943. I know it's not a super slicer but neither is the 940 imo. Not compared to a Spyderco para military-2 or Benchmade 550 griptillian etc. Hey Rob, what's your current favorite blade steel? I know like myself CPM-M4 is high on your list but surely one of the latest and greatest have taken the crown. Yes?
Still CPM-M4. Close behind are REX-45, HAP 40 and CruWear. On the stainless side of things, I may be becoming a Magnacut believer, but I still love S35 as an all purpose steel.

Finally, if you do break a spring, the lock will still function in an emergency situation - jam a stick in the slot to hold the Axis bar forward, and you have a fixed blade. End of rant.
Nancy boy ball bearing Chinese flippers 🤣 Long live the 940 and Sebenza! 👌🏻
@@TheApostleP - Roger that. Yeah I'm still rocking M4 myself. Thanks for the input, Rob.
@@TheApostleP Just saw a Buck video, they're doing a 110 in magnacut with the bos heat treat.
Do you know how old the knife is, approximately?
Benchmades are pretty easy to get close, by steel type, washer type and packaging.
@@TheApostleP i received an older mini grip today. 154cm with a bk marking under it. Bronze washers and the omega springs hook into holes in the liner instead of on the liner sides. Pretty cool.
You gotta really like knives to pay 200 for this
The clickbait tile was totally unnecessary. :(
Anyone interested would have clicked anyway. I don't like being lied to.
I’m very sorry, Nancy. I do this about once a year, just to be funny. The rest of RUclips creators do it every day. Why do you still watch RUclips?
@@TheApostleP Well, judging from you actions, and your attitude, it appears the depth of your spiritual discipline doesn't extend much past the branding of your channel.
The Word may be sharp, whatever that means, but it is also VERY clear. Tell me, what other of God's commandments do you feel entitled not to follow, since you are basing your behavior on other RUclipsrs, instead of His Word?
@@khakicampbell6640 Wow… somebody needs to spend some time… in person, not at a keyboard… with some actual guys. We tease each other, especially when one takes himself too seriously or is being a bit thin skinned. It’s how we communicate. You should try it sometime. It’s good for the soul, and for relationships between men.
Whole Lotta blah blah for almost no information.
and added racism to boot
Its beutuful and i wudent tuch nothing ( only clean it and sharpen it and after that yust strop it and hee is god for feu ares). People to musch sharp there knife and dont strop it when its sharp but is going to bee dool and yust feu time ewry month to strop it and hee is as newe.
Your biases are showing. 😂
Bias based upon experience and evidence is wisdom, my friend.
Do a USA videos tired of seeing Chinese knives
14:53 nice try!
The Kool-Aid is strong 💪 I will never understand the following that Benchmade has. The 940 has to be one of the ugliest designs in pocket knife history… The Bugouts are flimsy junk… The Shootout would be at home in any fleamarket… The Bailout is a travesty, outclassed by many a gas station folder… Poor aesthetics, bad design, laughable builds - and you get all that at ridiculous prices! The Axis lock is their only contribution to knifedom, and that was promptly done better by competitors the minute the patent expired. With so many better values and outstanding domestics, how do they keep it going? Idk. The Hogue Deka wharny is what a 940 aspires to be, it’s a tank, great design and ergos, AND in Magnacut - and still 30% LESS than the cheapest 940.
Great content like seeing worn benchmades
