I fell for Twice not because they have great music, even though they do have great music, lots of other artists have great music, for me it was their extremely hard working ethic, humility and a sisterhood that seems quite strong and genuine which is rare in a large group to see a bond like that. I watched thier last two IDOL HUMAN THEATRE clips where they just can relax and be themselves and you can tell they get along when they are just chillin plus they are really funny. Aside from Dreamcatcher, Twice is my other GG I follow closely at the moment.
They do seem so genuinely sweet so I can't wait to watch some stuff that showcases their personalities 🥰

The difference between Sixteen and other survival shows is all of them were under JYP at the time. The other survival shows you are thinking of like the Produce series the trainees are from different companies so that's why the contract for those groups have a set amount and the group disbands after
Stray Kids was a survival show by JYP too and I've only seen part of that show because it hurts my heart. But they're also still together so I see your point on that
Correct. The girls all knew each other to a certain extent, a few were even suppose to debut together a few times. I recommend watching Sixteen first as it's truly the beginning, it's a compelling show even knowing the result. There's a lot of insight on the members and their relationships to each other.
And actually Twice started all this survival shows in Mnet too haha
Twice literally never failed to amazed me, even on their 8th year they stay humble and very kind, The 9 girls treat each member as a family and they love each other so much, im so proud of my Queens
Survival shows are typically meant to be temporary groups since it’s created by mnet usually and they bring trainees from multiple companies so they have to be temporary but for twice the show was done by jyp and only jyp trainees appeared so they were always meant to be permanent

And then listen to the album in reverse chronological order because the bsides from their newer albums is real gold and became my top Twice songs

fyi, dahyun may seem like she's extra most of the time on camera and it's understandable if anyone would think she's an extrovert but the other members have mentioned before that off cam, dahyun is one of the quiet ones (alongside mina & tzuyu, but when it's the 3 of them, tzuyu is more talkative) and mysterious. Dahyun can also play the piano by ears and has a perfect pitch, proven by the members too during one of their vlive where they told her to close her eyes and guess the key they pressed and she got everything right. I had to double bias Mina & Dahyun, they are my ults
Tzuyu is really like the elves in Novels, with slender bodies, beautiful faces, pointed ears and excellent archery skills.

im here just to warn you, although its safely to say that you're actually 7 year late, but once you choose to go deep into teudoongie path, there is no way back 😁 TWICE is well known for their catchy music and stunning visual, but when you know them so well, you'll know what they really are, how beautiful their personalities, how deep their love towards each other, and most importantly how hard their workin... bcs most of people only judge them by WHAT they had achieving, not how they achieving it.. good luck
one of the reason I love twice is their bond, their interaction with onces, and some of their B-sides are just a hidden jewel, I definitely recommend go through more clips, dance choreography's, interviews and specially their show 'Time to twice'
A reason Sana is SOOO cute and affectionate with the members is cause she grew up an only child so she sees them as true family and loves them so dearly.
Also her personality is cute as often as she can be and it's the most wholesome thing ever.

Ok.... Wall of text because I felt like answering questions while I was watching....
1:50 - There are 2 kinds of survival shows: 1) with trainees from a single company (Sixteen, Finding Momoland, Idol School(2017)), 2) with trainees from multiple companies (Produce 101, Produce 48, Girls Planet 999). The first is to make a "normal" group with a relatively standard contract with that company and to give other trainees that show potential (but might not be immediately ready to debut) promotion and experience. The second is to make a temporary group (around 1-2 years) with the knowledge that those members will go back to their parent company; while this also is a way to show the potential of a company's trainees, it also is used to help jumpstart a fan base for the artist when they redebut ("former-[GROUPNAME] member" is often used in early promotion).
3:17 - JYPe has had a record of using their trainees as extras in MVs in other groups from their company. For example, Nayeon, Sana, and Dahyeon had roles in GOT7’s MVs for ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, ‘A’, and ‘Stop Stop Stop It’ respectively.
4:11 - I think that’s Kookeu, Nayeon’s dog.
5:40 - From what I understand, JYPe was more heavyhanded with controlling Twice’s growth because of how MissA’s popularity ended up being tied to Suzy rather than to the group as a whole. For example, they’ve had the Twicetagram account since October 2015 but didn’t have individual instagrams until May 2022. Additionally, most of their early CFs involved all of the group members with personal CFs not really appearing until around 2020.
47:23 - Twice’s Melody Projects are similar to Dreamcatcher’s Special Clips. They are covers of songs by other artists done by the members of songs that they themselves chose. Some of the earlier ones, most notably Sana’s first MelPro and to a lesser extent Mina’s first MelPro, were trails for what JYPe wanted to do with the concept while many of the ones after feel much more put together and well produced; I want to say Chaeyoung’s first MelPro became the template for others. Performance Projects are similar but focus more on the dancing than the vocals. They do also include some behind the scene moments in a follow up video.
I recently got into TWICE, I avoided them cause their cutesy concept wasn't for me and that was all I knew of them. But I fell down a rabbit hole after seeing a clip of Tzuyu during ISAC archery & well, I'm here now and love a lot of their discography. They also have such great personalities.

The members were picked on a survival show but Twice as a concept, product and brand was planed to exist, regardless of the survival show. Sixteen acted more like the final evaluation for the aspiring trainees than a ‘once in a life time’ chance for lucky randoms.
You’re going to get obsessed like I did 3 years ago! Sooo much content, it will be years before you go through all of them. 300+ songs under their belt and still going.
your comment about going too hard, Jihyo never gets tired publicly. I’m sure she is but she just loves performing SO much that her capacity to go hard is just much higher than many people. She remains incredibly stable with her vocals at the same time as well.
I still worry about it though 😅 It's great from a performance standpoint but I want her to look out for herself too

As far as I know she’s one of the few members who’s never had a health scare. she really seems to understand her limits, and she knows how to be chill but also energetic if that makes sense. Saw them in concert and I could tell when she was resting but her energy was never low. I rlly admire that about her! But i guess it does make sense to worry, but lowkey the guide was a bit exaggerated haha
Jihyo trained for 10 years,since 2005,and Chan for 7 years since 2010. They both know a lot of people of trained at JYP during that time (Chan mentioned before knowing Twice members but also GOT7 members,or others that ended up moving company like Shownu from Monsta X). There's even a predebut video of a performance with Chan,Chaeyoung and Bambam (GOT7).
Well, the respect for Jihyo also comes from the fact that she was a trainee for 10 yrs from a very young age
Not just that, though. Each of the members voted on who should be leader of the group. They voted Jihyo because they knew that she knows what she is doing, sure (knowing that she had trained that long). But the vote also came with the understanding that there is a reason to have a leader in the first place and the winner's authority would be backed up by JYP. So whoever gets voted, you WILL listen to them when they say something.
For a long time, I thought the vote was unanimous for Jihyo being leader. I only recently found out that no, it was not unanimous. Jeongyeon came in second place in that vote. O.O
I don't know whether to be proud she trained for so long or worried she started so young 😅
@@AntiSocialPlanet Right. In order to be THAT GREAT, you really would have to start very young. That's some LONG YEARS right there. In doing so, kiss your childhood goodbye. She really and truly earned the position, but at an absurdly high cost. I really hope that she feels it was worth it later on but for now, the group is on top of the world.

Looking forward to your ONCE journey! Twice just exudes positivity and happiness, so i totally get it if your cheeks hurt from smiling even if ur only watching a guide. They have an amazing discography and they are crazy good performers but i guess what really makes them stand out for me is their bond and teamwork is one of a kind. its crazy for them to be clingier and more affectionate than ever on their 8th year when its usually the time idols want to establish an identity outside of the group. They're love for the team, for each other and for their fans is really what made all of them renew their contracts, its a bond that just cannot be faked.
I know when I get to the videos were they're sad about not being together, I'm going to tear up 😢
The company does not give Twice long rap clips for Twice to show their skill because the company focuses on sound and dancing more than anything. The company once said that it does this to prove that the songs are good and successful even if they do not contain rap clips. Therefore, Twice does not give the rap clips they deserve despite their skills. Rap has proven it in the program Sixteen
That's seems odd to me since there are other JYP groups that are more rap heavy 🤔

Four of their 7 members are rappers and they’ve done a couple of rap videos that are SO good. One video is GALZ XYPHER (might have spelled that wrong 🙄) and the other is CHILL BILL. XG also had a recent comeback, and you might enjoy their new releases, Shooting Star and Left Right.

I had an absolute blast hearing your thoughts on the information in this video and seeing what it was like for you to get acquainted with this wonderful group 💕 There's *soooo much* that i'd want to recommend tbh but i feel like you might enjoy osmomosis' video called "sana and bang chan being besties (an awkward duo bickering)" since you seem to like Stray Kids. I know you've posted many videos since but here's some rambling about a couple of things you mentioned:
It's funny you say that about Mina because Nayeon has said that there's something about her that stops her from playing pranks on Mina or making fun of her in a way she would the others. One thing that Nayeon is always gonna do is *point and laugh* - for instance when members cry during concerts you can be sure to see her finger in the frame, hear her laugh or have her teasing whoever's crying; she never does that with Mina like she's literally always just reassuring to her and the earliest cases of that were during the survival show Sixteen... Idk i find all of their different dynamics incredibly interesting and you can tell they all try to be as considerate as possible, which isn't a given.
I feel like i have to point out that Nayeon is actually extremely caring, i feel like i need to mention it bc people do tend to portray her as cocky and callous which couldn't be further from what we've seen transpire all these years. The most i'll give anyone is that she tends to enjoy being annoying and 90% of the time it's out of love or as a way of showing/wanting affection 😭
Sixteen is one of the rawest survival shows out there imo. Personally i hate survival shows but i watched it after forever because i wanted to see pre-debut interactions between the girls and in that aspect i think it's a really good watch, it'd be good to be prepared beforehand though. In terms of the editing and what the contestants were put through it's pretty despicable imo. I still find Momo's elimination hard to think about, let alone watch, bc of everything it implied and bc of the girls' reactions..
I'll watch literally anything with Bangchan so I'll add it to my list of stuff to get to.
Also, how could someone look at Nayeon's smile and think she's callous? I feel it and melt 😅
@@AntiSocialPlanet I guess it becomes easy to do when you convince yourself she has sinister intentions and all that kind of stuff lmao There have been efforts to portray her like that since debut and the editing on Sixteen was in parts to blame, and imo some fans tend to play into that a bit when it comes to some of the shorthands they use to set her apart - the care gets left out a lot.
One of the things that really stayed w me for some reason was how, years after debut, she has said multiple times that she felt remorseful bc she didn't take care of Dahyun as much as she did the other 2 younger members (Dahyun is the oldest of the maknae line) or as much as she "should have" - and putting the actual thing aside bc it's between them, i really like that they talk about this kind of stuff and.. yeah idk again to me it just confirms that there's introspection going on and a ton of consideration going around.
I'm going to stop rambling now 😭 it's just that there are many misconstrued narratives about them (some much more than others for whatever reason). I really could go on about the intricacies of how they each express themselves, of their bond, how it evolved etc. forever - but either way i'm really looking forward to that bangchan video reaction (and if it's not a reaction then i hope you enjoy it all the same) 💕
Oh! I'll just add this: i know some find them distracting but for lyric videos i really recommend random_k's as they're the most accurate, both in meaning and in parts (they show who's doing most adlibs etc.)

sixteen is a survival show, but it is within jyp entertainment, so it’s very different from shows like the produce series where a bunch of companies are competing. Think of it like a company member election but they made it visible to us.
Agree, but having watched absolutely none of the other survival shows, Sixteen is still really hard for me to watch... I think it's because they are kids and it's triggering me personally, so I fully understand people who both can and cannot watch it :)

5:43 yes, i think the reason for them taking so long to release a solo project is cause their schedule was really tight back in their prime and also their agreement to focus more as a group earlier on their careers
31:00 bonus fact, Jihyo has been in the company since she was 9 years old as a trainee so she has always have a knack for performing 😅
41:11 Bonus fact, she is called a penguin because of her posture when walking, she has her feet open mostly (cause of her ballet training) so it looks like she waddles just like a penguin
47:22 Context for Melody Projects; they are basically solo projects that they do from time to time but its usually in the form of a cover of another song, but sometimes there are Performance Project where they are dancing and/or covering a song at the same time. These project are not counted as a solo and not promoted as much, also some of the video sometimes is edited by the member themselves

I describe my Bias as Chaeyoung 12%, every other member 11% each, or sometimes 11% each & 1% leftover for Boo & Dobby (MoMo & Nayeon’s Yorkies).
They really are as sincerely sweet and real as they appear. I remember seeing somewhere where a bunch of Idols were asked who is legitimately just as they appear, and every one of them answered “Twice…”
Twice’s content legit saved my sanity during lockdown, as I had just started listening to KPop in 2019; I’m a Death/Black Metal musician, oddly, but I’ve always appreciated pop music, and I bartend in a nightclub, so we get exposed to quite a bit of it.
I’ve been pushing for KPop nights, and we finally have some (One this coming Thursday), and the one in May is Twice-themed! 💚💙💛🧡💜

Survival show groups don't last bc they are usually not under the same company but this group was all under JYP so it's a different situation. Ones like Kep1er or Izone started with a limited contract while Twice started with the usual 7 year contract.
Twice never had solo acts up until very recently because JYPe didn’t want to suffer another Suzy/MissA situation. okay what you're talkin about is survival shows that are created by the Network's yes those groups usually do not last that long the Survival show they were on was created by their company
The survival show was created by JYP himself, for their own trainees, supported/aired by Mnet. The decision maker mostly by JYP himself (thanks God not from Mnet). And make sure you're ready before watching SIXTEEN... it's stressed me, I can only able to watched it once. BUT after that you'll probably understand why they're TWICE until today...

I don't think I'll ever watch it. I follow other groups that were put together through survival shows and I never watched it because I don't like them

Even if someone's chill they can make them being hated by viewers, like they did to Dahyun. If you WANT I can try my best explains by creating recap in the next comment so you don't have to watch it.. BTW, there are some video of Momo & Mina dancing in YT, one of the is "Hit The Stage" show, 2 performances are "vampire" dance & "dangerous dance".

Cover, Melody and Performance are voluntary projects from the members. Everyone except Jeongyeon did it, probably since MelPro and PerPro needs to be inserted in their schedules since they need to shoot with it like it was an MV.
Chaeyoung's rapping skills were not fully shown in this, too. I think she'd bloom more if she does have a solo or unit with some of the members. Sixteen showed what kind of rapping she had at that time, pretty sure she improved a lot, just not that much chances on showing it a lot.

Tzuyu adopted kaya (mom) and butter (son) from the animal shelter three year ago, they were scheduled to be euthanized a few days later. Now they are cute and healthy.
