  • This is a brief review of what I learned over the summer semester 2022 at Brainstorm Burbank! It's a little bit out-dated since I took a while to edit this video.
I'm now in the middle of taking Andy Cung's scene mentorship :)
**This will probably be the last art noob reviews video I do!! **

In true artist fashion, you're too hard to your work. Ha-ha. There's some nice stuff here, especially in the character sketches. Glad you enjoyed the classes and got something out of it to add to your portfolio!
I think I recognize that model with the top hat, by the way. Pretty sure I've drawn her before. Did she bring her pet rabbits when you guys drew her? 'Cause she did when I went to... I think CTN-X one year. Ha-ha.

Wow it’s really cool seeing all the sketches you made. I hope you post more of the story boards!
Also waiting to see if any of the teachers comment 👀

Thanks for posting this! Was considering taking an Andy Cung class. Your work's excellent! If you want to learn more about the scriptwriting side, I recommend Brian McDonald's books and podcast. Also, I struggled a lot with understanding story structure, and I think it helps to view it as the process of a mindset change: A hero's beliefs are challenged, they have experiences that program a new belief into their mind, and they emerges changed.

Oh thank you! And I'm glad this video helped . I'll check out Brian McDonald, I've never heard of him! And yeah, that's a great way to simplify a hero's journey 🙌

    Hey there,
I was checking Schoolism since they have a winter sale now, but they still don't have perspective and anatomy courses if I'm not mistaken. Are there any online courses specifically focused on those subjects in a non-beginner way along with including light and colour you can recommend taking?

    • @sirap6028
      @sirap6028  Год назад +2

To be frank, I'm not sure of any except some of Proko's courses. I've never taken them so I'm not sure that it would be helpful or not (and I don't think they incorporate light and colour).
Personally for perspective I followed the curriculum on drawabox.com for a few months and then for anatomy I've used and have been using Anatomy for sculptors by Uldis Zarinus with Sandis Kondrats.
I've personally approached taking classes for light and color separately from other aspects of drawing... I'm about to take Kat Tsai's class and I found Airi Pan's course on schoolism to be very helpful in tackling light and color. James Patel could be good on youtube as well! (and DC1 at Brainstorm might be worth checking out)
This is coming from the experience of one person so please take it with a grain of salt!!! And it's really good if you try to find people that also want to learn the same things as you :D

@@sirap6028 I agree as I will be digging more opinions of other artists to get more insight. But thank you so much for taking your time and for sharing your experience. Also, will you continue making review videos of the recent classes you completed in close future?

@@BrecMadak I'll be making a few more videos of classes I'm taking - I'm working on one right now! But since I'm going to start slowing down on the classes my content may change in the near future.

@@sirap6028 Ohhh is Kat Tsai's class the one about backgrounds? I really wanted to take that one this time around but I ended up buying Justine Thaibult's Colour and Light from Underpaint Academy. I hope you do a review of that class once you've taken it :)

@@dogtug_ Oh whaaat? I've never heard of Underpaint Academy! Thanks for mentioning it! New classes for me and others to consider hahaha :D Kat Tsai's class is indeed the one with the backgrounds! It's a major weakness of mine so I thought I might as well take it!
