My greatest concern is how to recover from all these economic and global troubles and stay afloat especially with the political power tussle going on in US. The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance.

Why is it we never hear of a Senator wanting to cut pay for Senators and Congresspeople by say, 40% until their performance for the good of society improves? There should be no pay raises for any member of either house for the next 5 years unless the cost of living is brought down by a minimum 15% and absolutely no pay raise votes for Congress that do not take place in the cold light of day between the hours of 9:00AM and 4:00PM, or better yet, all votes for pay raises for Congress should be put to a public referendum and select members could be chosen to represent Congress and given 90 seconds to convince us that you need a raise.

Get a clue politicians, you need to do more than just protect Social Security. That so called historic increase in Social Security didn’t even cover inflation over the last three years. I had to sell my house. People can barely get by on Social Security. You need to increase it by at least 20%. And start making cost of living increase is that make sense. This last increase of 3% for 2024 does not meet inflation over the last year. It was 9% in June and had dropped to 6.5% towards the end of the year. The 3% increase is woefully inadequate. Start paying attention to the needs of your elderly. That goes for Democrats too. It’s not just the Republicans who are being miserly.

When can we say the working class needs better government. I don't care who you adore or what your party is . I'm for solar for houses and no dependants on power companies or government. We need to have a good conversation on the needs and the capitalism of economics of choosing to depend on them and having a self reliability. We need food water and electricity. Yet we depend on companies. We need a choice.

SSI is 12% deferred pay from an employer. Any cut will be returned to the employer via lower market wages over time.

SSI in not Social Security. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is the federal welfare program taken away from the state governments around 1973, for the SSA to implement. SSI is paid for by our general taxes. It is basically for disabled people who did not pay into the SSA system, or their SSA retirement/disability benefits is under the poverty levels.

@allykatz does it really matter? Are you worried that corporations don't have enough representation in congress?
