  • In this video, Ashwin sir will explain the golden rules and the expert strategy on finishing your class 10 cbse math paper on time Many of you have probably finished revising your entire syllabus and are now gearing up for a final push in the last 2 months - in order to get your dream score in Class 10. In my interaction with students - many students know all concepts , but struggle with managing time. Some are not able to finish the paper on time due to a host of reasons. In this video, I will give you the most important tips to ensure that you not only finish your paper on time , but also get enough time for checking.
Step 0: Use the first 15 minutes to read the question paper and figure out which questions you know and don’t know. Mark the ones you know with a tick and the ones which seem new with a cross. The ones you don’t know - spend a minute thinking about it 0 while writing , but if you don’t know - just move on during the paper after attempting bare minimum
Step 1: Do the long answer questions first
Contrary to what many school teachers say and many students think , you can attempt your paper in any order. Longer questions are usually easier and from the textbook - if you have practiced well, you can get this done quickly. You just need to ensure two things -
All questions of a section are attempted together and in sequence
    Question numbers are written correctly
Our recommendation is to follow the following order
    5 Marks Questions
    3 Marks Questions
    2 Marks Questions
    1 Mark Questions
    Case Study Questions
Step 2: Time Limits for each section instead of each question
First 30 minutes - Finish all 5 Mark Questions - (10 minutes per question)
Next 45 minutes - Finish all 3 Marks Questions - (6 minutes per question)
    Next 25 mins - Finish all 2 Marks Questions - (4 minutes per question) - 12
Next 30 minutes - Finish all 1 Mark Questions (2 minutes per question) - 16
Next 40 minutes - Finish all Case Study Questions -(10 minutes per case study)
Last 10 minutes - Check if you have attempted everything and tick each question one by one in the paper

So if your paper starts at 10 am. You must finish 5 marks questions by 10:30, 3 Mark questions by 11:15, 2 mark questions by 11:40, 1 Mark questions by 12:10 and Case study by 12:50.
Step 3: Never exceed the section limit by more than 1-2 minutes. Practice question papers with this in mind. If you have not finished a section , move on to the next section.
Step 4: Never get stuck in any question for more than 5 minutes. If you are not getting it in 5 minutes , you will not get it immediately. Mark it , come back later if you have time. This will most likely happen in 3 mark questions as they are usually the trickiest.
    Just to summarize:
Plan in the first 15 minutes
    Attempt Longer Questions first
    Stick to section time limits
Never spend more than 5 minutes on a question
    Best wishes !
