I have read two of John Kani's plays, and I fundamentally disagree with his reconciliatory stance. I hope one day I will critique him in a formal writing. Please don't take this personally. I think we need to be critical thinkers in order to change the world. We must disagree with Biko, Mandela, Malcolm X and so on, if needs be, without feeling guilty. Just to illustrate that leaders are not always spot on. In this interview, John Kani said apartheid had nothing to do with skin colour; nothing can be further from the truth. However, much respect to John Kani for his contribution in the South African literature and theatre.
