@@HamedAdefuwa It is an access point. An extender would actually use the same ssid as your home wifi, and remain on the same network, being visible by other computers and printers. What you did was split your home internet into multiple access points. I'm trying to find an actual repeter video because my ring driveway camera doesn't reach my router. If I just created a new Hotspot, I would not be able to access the video footage from anywhere else in the house.
@@ZeginMakesMusic gotcha, ty! Surely using the same ssid is possible with a Raspberry Pi, no? Googled it quickly and found nothing. Eeek. You're probably going to have to go with something like this and use a workaround to access the footage.
Sorry im 7mo late Its called a bridge (wifi to Ethernet) it is used for devices that dont have wifi. There are many tutorials on the internet . I hope i was helpful
hi! I was able to do this in my RaspPi 3 but having a 802.11b/g/n at 2.4 GHz is really slow. Can I work this out with 2 external 802.11ac external USB WiFi adapters? Seems I cannot make it work (SSID not broadcasting and WiFi client cannot connect to any SSID)
Hey apologies I don't know how to do it because it's basically going to using the WiFi chip to receive a signal and then switch to relaying the signal, it's going to pretty much half your internet speed I believe. Just something to think about if you manage to do it

This isn’t a WiFi extender, this is just a WiFi AP. An extender is WiFi to WiFi.
this went over my head lol as far as I know, this extends my wifi from downstairs in my living room to upstairs in my loft. Good enough for me lol

@@HamedAdefuwa duh!
Thanks for video, very instructive and easy to follow
You're welcome Dean :)
Is it possible to use the ethernet as output and the onboard chip as receive?

How did you manage to do it with pihole?
While downloading the full-upgrade part my raspberry pi completely crashed and keeps saying “firmware not found”
How do I fix this?
I love how you say raspberry hahhah
After configuring, I cannot find the hotspot access point. How can I restore the original setting of RaspAp without webserver ?
Perhaps redo the SD card
can you maybe tell me or show me how i can do this fully wirelessly and without a dongle?
or is it exactly the same method

@@HamedAdefuwa its fine dw about it, im gonna try hostapd since i can do that wirelessly with the onboard wifi chip
never heard of it but thanks, I'll stick that on my list of things to check out
