  • Founded in 1869 by Henry Tibbe, the Washington-based Missouri Meerschaum Co. remains as the first and only producer of the famous corncob pipes. "You can't get more authentically American than a corncob pipe," says General Manager Phil Morgan. "It's a corncob pipe, it has to be fun."
Phil takes us through the step-by-step process of how the company makes their famous pipes. Each year, more than 700,000 pipes find their way to pipe enthusiasts across the world.

The Young Piper Actually that was a few months ago. I have one now and it works great. Pipe smoking is an art. I am an artist. A comic actually. Stand up like pipe smoking takes practice and practical advice from cool folk like you. Thanks! My dentist want's me to quit. I told him that I am finally learning how to smoke the damn things. Why quit now!

larjjlion I had a natural corncob that burned on one side after a couple of smokes. I guess there was a weak spot in the inner wall of the bowl.

Matt Jones I watched a fellow piper's upload recently. Missouri Meerschaum sent him a few cobs. 1 had a hole right through the bottom. A lot has to do with experience smoking a pipe. And that is true even with Briars etc. But I am still a believer in these cheap cobs being used as what they are. They are pipes that are cheap ones that are great to take a beating and toss after 6 to 12 months.

I got my Missouri Corn Cob in Sweden , in most impssible place to find such thing.
It was this summer and i was on west coast in place called Smågen.
Smågen is traditional touristmagnet- its a old fisherman village with small houses plastered to rocks and lot of small islands around.
I went to local shop and asked about the pipes having a fisherman pipe as a souvenir in mind.
Well they was out of all types of fisherman pipes besides long "Lord of the rings" copys and some really awfull standard type pipes.
Then shopkeeper started to dig on the bottom on the shelf - wait a sec i have some different ones...
To my complete astonishing she presented a perfect original Missouri Meerschaum to me...
"Those are not so popular we never sold much of it - so you can get it for extra low price- 65 SEK."
    Men it was a bargain.
Great pipe- old memories about Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn came back to me...
    Greetings from Sweden

I also love my Missouri Meerschaum pipes. It is really heart breaking when you accidentally drop a $200 Briar pipe and it breaks. The cost is why I originally switched to corn cob, even though they don't last as long if you are a regular smoker, but the flavor it adds is outstanding.

My first corn cob pipe is MM Indonesian Patriot (the one they export specifically to Indonesia). The bowl didn't last long, cracks started to appear 2 years after I bought it so I decided to retire it to my cupboard. Now I have several other pipes but that one pipe still holds a place in my heart.

  • @Der_Kleine_Mann
    @Der_Kleine_Mann 11 месяцев назад

These pipes are the working man's pipe basically, because you don't really have to worry if it gets dirty, or it gets damaged. And the bowl is not too big, so it doesn't take hours to finish a bowl. I own 5 of these pipes, and I got my first one in 2010, so I can just say good things about them. Im a charcoal filter smoker, so I modify all my M.M. pipes to fit a 6mm charcoal filter, and that works quite well.
    I do recommend them👍
