- Founded in 1869 by Henry Tibbe, the Washington-based Missouri Meerschaum Co. remains as the first and only producer of the famous corncob pipes. "You can't get more authentically American than a corncob pipe," says General Manager Phil Morgan. "It's a corncob pipe, it has to be fun."
Phil takes us through the step-by-step process of how the company makes their famous pipes. Each year, more than 700,000 pipes find their way to pipe enthusiasts across the world.

I've just purchased two and I don't even smoke 😂 and I'm going to start collecting corncob, too see how many different types and designs there is .
Love my Missouri Meerschaums. One of those rare products where the functional value actually exceeds the price.
Cob are rapidly becoming the stars of my pipe collection. 4 out of my collection of 8 are from MM. 3 cobs and 1 hardwood
Love my pipe, Missouri pride 👍👍😀
I'm irish and i got my country gentleman corncob off amazon on Thursday and its the best smoke i ever had with a pipe still breaking it in and even now its my favourite.
I just ordered 5 corncob pipes last night. I love the whiskey from your hometown as well. Can't beat the corncob pipe and Irish whiskey combo, cheers and happy piping!
The $6 corn cobs are useless. I had one start on fire in my hand after 5 smokes.
It was probably a Chinese knock-off... not an MM
The Young Piper Actually that was a few months ago. I have one now and it works great. Pipe smoking is an art. I am an artist. A comic actually. Stand up like pipe smoking takes practice and practical advice from cool folk like you. Thanks! My dentist want's me to quit. I told him that I am finally learning how to smoke the damn things. Why quit now!
larjjlion I had a natural corncob that burned on one side after a couple of smokes. I guess there was a weak spot in the inner wall of the bowl.
Matt Jones I watched a fellow piper's upload recently. Missouri Meerschaum sent him a few cobs. 1 had a hole right through the bottom. A lot has to do with experience smoking a pipe. And that is true even with Briars etc. But I am still a believer in these cheap cobs being used as what they are. They are pipes that are cheap ones that are great to take a beating and toss after 6 to 12 months.
Did you smoke gasoline in your corncob bowl?
I got my Missouri Corn Cob in Sweden , in most impssible place to find such thing.
It was this summer and i was on west coast in place called Smågen.
Smågen is traditional touristmagnet- its a old fisherman village with small houses plastered to rocks and lot of small islands around.
I went to local shop and asked about the pipes having a fisherman pipe as a souvenir in mind.
Well they was out of all types of fisherman pipes besides long "Lord of the rings" copys and some really awfull standard type pipes.
Then shopkeeper started to dig on the bottom on the shelf - wait a sec i have some different ones...
To my complete astonishing she presented a perfect original Missouri Meerschaum to me...
"Those are not so popular we never sold much of it - so you can get it for extra low price- 65 SEK."
Men it was a bargain.
Great pipe- old memories about Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn came back to me...
Greetings from Sweden
Great story, thanks for sharing. They are still in business in Washington, Missouri!
Don't you wish most products were made literally from the earth, with such care, steeped in history and functionality.
This is kick ass as far as commercials go
I also love my Missouri Meerschaum pipes. It is really heart breaking when you accidentally drop a $200 Briar pipe and it breaks. The cost is why I originally switched to corn cob, even though they don't last as long if you are a regular smoker, but the flavor it adds is outstanding.
I am a new pipe smoke and am already sold on Missouri Meerschaum. No need for expensive pipes for me.
Yes, Me too. I have several pipes with wood original from my country. MM is good with the same taste as my briar does. 😅❤❤❤ Happy smoking with pipe, Now day I always bring my MM in my pocket
Absolutely excellent pipes. The other guy may be smoking something that cost 200$ more, but he will not be having a better smoke.
ok, smoking lacquer may not be much more harmful than smoking tabako but, what the fuck !?
I have about ten cobs and love them. Missouri Meerschaum (or "MM") is the cob you want to buy, and the pipe to take with you camping, hunting, and fishing.
I enjoy mine
I have 5 corncobs (4 finished 1 natural)
I also have the Hardwood pipe( Maple)
I don’t trust any other corn cob pipes but from Missouri Meerschaum
Great pipes, smoke well , cost less and an American icon ! Love my 8 or more , have them stashed everywhere .
My first corn cob pipe is MM Indonesian Patriot (the one they export specifically to Indonesia). The bowl didn't last long, cracks started to appear 2 years after I bought it so I decided to retire it to my cupboard. Now I have several other pipes but that one pipe still holds a place in my heart.
Hello! How can I buy genuine Missouri pipe in Ukraine? Greetings from Ukraine!
These are the best smoking pipes. Superior to my briars.
I have been smoking pipe only 3 years and only cobs and clays, can you advise me if I should try a briar or a meershaum next?
I love my cobs!
Me too. So far, the only thing I've found that beats corn cob is clay.
They are so simple and so fantastic. I'm thinking of trying my hand at making some Prairie Piper Cobs.
That would be cool. Would you put good stems on them or those terrible plastic things? there are two kinds of cob I always thought would be cool, a cutty style and a wide king size for smoking English/Balkan. Nobody makes these.
Me too
❤MM I have 2 Country Gentlemans.
the MacArthur has to be my favorite
Why are so many being bought?... shouldn't one person only have to buy one? So why are so many bought😂
Corncobs don’t last forever
Sehr interessantes Video. Danke und Grüße aus Germany
Cool! I miss smoking a pipe some days. I had to stop because I have asthma, but still have a few pipes I have held on to. One is a traditional corncob pipe :-)
These pipes are the working man's pipe basically, because you don't really have to worry if it gets dirty, or it gets damaged. And the bowl is not too big, so it doesn't take hours to finish a bowl. I own 5 of these pipes, and I got my first one in 2010, so I can just say good things about them. Im a charcoal filter smoker, so I modify all my M.M. pipes to fit a 6mm charcoal filter, and that works quite well.
I do recommend them👍
I have a collection of expensive briars and a Missourri cob pipe. Have to say it but the cob seems to smoke the best out of all of them! I thought it would get burnt out quickly but it's very resistant to heat and char.
Some of the best pipes hands down. I reach for my cob as often as my savinelli or peterson.
My brother got me one for Father's day last year. I love smokes clean and smooth my family laughs at me when I do lol
The only thing that beats my MM is my Churchwarden, but it's a different style all together so MM is undefeated
Ever seen a Cobbit? It's a corn cob churchwarden.
🤗♥️🥰🇺🇸
Hello!

Easter Day 2023🙏🏼 GOD BLESS Y'ALL
Really well done!👍🏻

@@chasemcpot7789 Based?
For those of you wondering they also have a cannibus line of pipes known as cornabus lol
Come on now. 😂
@@M60gunner1971 they do lol they just put a carb on the regular ones
They’re the best hands down. If you disagree then you don’t know better .
Popeye
Corn cobs are my favorite pipe
I'd like to see how the stems are made.
jacktheripoff1888 Wood lathe
The workers make them using their hands.
Mine smokes like a dream 👍🏻
timeless product
why do all pipes have fucking plastic on the end man, shit is so pointless
what are you talking about
That's why I don't see Walmart selling Rolex watches
That means I'm a natural pip maker!!
Cobs rule
Great video I would love a corncib pipe a country gentleman at that, but I'm only 14
Just curious, do you have one now?
Cheap, durable and versatile. great pipes.
Wooden pipes are way more classy though.
Not exactly.
Outstanding
what glue they use to stick the mouthpiece
They don't glue it always sometimes plaster it but if glued I think wood glue is what they use
I use plain old Elmer's glue. It works great and it's non toxic.
Well i got my first pipe, and it was a corncob when i was 14. Just got my brother to get it for me. So if you really want one you could always get some one older to do that.
Their inspection/Quality Control department is awesome!!
Send me one for free!!!
I have a bunch of the company's pipes, but I would never think of using them to smoke tobacco--that's bad for you. "Worldwide, tobacco use causes more than 7 million deaths per year" --CDC
That’s commercial tobacco products man. Comparing pipe tobacco to cigarettes is like comparing plant based diet to McDonald’s
@@searchforthetruth1998 🤣🤣🤣 Well said bro!
But nobody smokes pipes these days?
Are you kidding? Pipe smoking is still very much a thing.
In California more people smoke cigarettes. Many people don’t know the difference . Pipe tobacco is very expensive. Cigarettes are bad for the soul. Pipe tobacco is good for it. Plus because of chemicals in cigs it’s hard to switch to pipe tobacco .
Sorry bro, I just started last year and I'm getting more pipes (just ordered 5 MM corncob pipes) and tobaccos. Happy Piping!
