I went to 1990, It was chaotic. When we arrived there were lines of riot police vans with cops who looked like they were waiting to baton us. Lots of arguments with the current security. Lots of drugs, people toileting in bushes or on the road walking up to the site. Music was good though, better then what they put on these days. Feel sorry for the so called festival goers now, It is a purely commercial venture now.
"Purely commercial". That's an inaccurate extreme position which does not capture the whole event. There are commercial aspects but it also has its own special vibe. Do you expect the organisers to pay for it themselves? Have you reviewed the finances of putting on a successful festival? We are stuck with an economic system which means we all have to pay for such things. Sorry.

Only way to go these days are to work as part of the crew. I pity the punters. It’s a shit deal. The punters aren’t festival people. Stonehenge was the true festival back in the day. Then the fashion for that sort of thing got so big, travellers got booted out and they sold their culture to middle class students. I suppose it was inevitable. Enjoy yourselves you that go.
