Champions League - Difficulty increases as you go up the rounds
EPL - Difficulty increases as game-week progresses, fatigue, injuries. Difficulty may increase if your team is fighting for top spots towards the last 10 games or a low/mid table teams faces a top EPL contender.

In Premier you can lose games, you can, for example, win every game but lose to Liverpool and still being above Liverpool at the end of the season.
In ULC you have to win everything, there's no space to lose against the same team twice, is you lose one leg the other one you gotta win with even a better result.

@JSmellerM for any one particular team's point of view, there is only one domestic champion per year- the champion of the league they are in. So from the team point of view, there are not more domestic champions yearly than European champions. For what you're saying to make a difference, you'd have to be randomly selecting a European team. In that case, the chance that the team you select will have won its league will be greater than the chance that the team you select will have won the champions league.

The League rewards consistency. You can lose sometimes and make up for it. As long as you win the majority of games then it's not a problem. In the CL one loss can get you out of the tournament. Not just a loss, you even have to be careful about how many goals you concede. Having a stable defense is very important. Once the group stage ends you will progressively see less goals as teams get more and more careful. Uli Hoeneß said it nicely: "the league title is the most honest. In the CL you can be the best team yet still not win because of one bad game or unlucky day". I'm not a player so I can't say for sure. But I think the majority of players, managers etc. would agree with Hoeneß's statement.

The leagues have a lot more games which means that even though you fuck up a part, and have a losing streak, you can still end up winning it at the end. Meanwhile the UCL is a lot deadlier. Your opponents have less chances to bottle to help recover from a possible losing streak. A game lost in the league might make the difference, but it's usually rare. Jamie played for Liverpool, won UCL for Liverpool, and there’s a lot of pressure for EPL, as players and teams had (and still have) an equivalent level in this league. As for Henry, he won UCL, but never with Arsenal. He had a drought of UCL in his time with his no-UCL favorite team, but managed to win EPL.

For PL, while no mean feat, you can technically survive with a bigger squad and also have familiarity over the teams you play with, in an environment that you know. It depends on your viewpoint… for example the League is won mostly by the strongest team, as in more often than not the most consistent team will win the league…
In reverse the champions league winner is not necessarily the strongest team, it comes down to a lot of factors, injuries, form, ref decisions etc… so if you’re the dominant team in your league… the harder tournament is the UCL… if you’re a weaker team in your league the harder tournament is the league cause you’ve got a better chance at winning the UCL

The level of difficulty against opponents definitely means CL. We also can't forget that two EPL champions in the last decade did so in seasons when they weren't in Europe (Leicester City in 2015/16, and Chelsea in 2016/17), so I'd say those extra 13 games refute the point about the 38-game EPL season.

You gotta perform well in the EPL just to qualify. So it's even hard to qualify for. But the EPL is still the more illustrious trophy. Leagues by their nature produce the best team of the season. In the UCL you could be the best team, and have one bad game and your out...or lose on penalties....that in itself makes it more difficult.... there's luck involved.
