I'll say this Arena is for hardcore Dungeon Crawlers only. I completed the game a few weeks ago and I will warn you. Its VERY repetitive and doesn't feel much like a Elder Scrolls Game (this is understandable however and is still a great game). Daggerfall is a true masterpiece not as good as Morrowind but pretty damn close. I'd recommend it. Also anyone who wants to play these two games without jumping through DOSbox hoops go to the UESP website. And they will link you to a DOS ready version.
I know what the letter was really about, but I love that he describes Lysandus as a close friend and then implies that he was running around with his wife behind his back.
Such a great, and completely insane game this was. Man, I spent years playing it... takes crazy people to make a game area double the size of the United Kingdom.
Ahh, memories.. My brother and I would laugh at how you could, one night, break into the weapon shop, steal all the gear, sneak back to your room, sleep, then go back in the morning and sell everything you stole back to the shopkeeper for loads of money! Was definitely an addictive game!
I can already see it... A remake of Daggerfall, with graphics similar to late PS1 quality to retain some of that gritty feeling. The game would span a set of 5 discs, with a total install size of almost 50GB. All of Tamriel is explorable in extensive detail at real-world scale. NPC interaction is mostly voiced but with vast amounts of text-based conversation. Jeremy Soule arranges a modern version of the score. All the RPG staples or II supplemented with the advances of III/IV/V. Its a dream :)
i have to admit this is a good intro the acting makes it real it makes me imagine that i was there. someday i will create a game as great as the elder scrolls or at least make it similiar

Oh..... Daggerfall! :)
The amount of hours I spend playing this game. I loved that intro! I was totally and utterly absorbed... and thrilled when I got my brandnew 486dx4 100 mhz, with 16 mb of ram, and 1,3 gig HD to play it on... not the mention the amazing Tseng 6000 graphics card with 2 mb of ram!!! :D Soooo long ago!
And they will link you to a DOS ready version.
old video games are aweseome
Fuck yes they do
This surprisingly good acting
This is a very powerful and very fateful 2 minutes.
"The letter was of a sentimental and... personal nature."
INSIGHT CHECK!
Top tier acting and storytelling. They don't do that nowadays
I know what the letter was really about, but I love that he describes Lysandus as a close friend and then implies that he was running around with his wife behind his back.
Never gets old. 😎
Wasted my teenage years playing this game. The best Elder Scrolls game by a mile.
absolutely.
I wouldnt call it a waste when you have a good time.
dont see enough of these live action intros/movies in video games anymore. The resident evil one was cool, and I'm glad the C&C games keep on with it.
OCATO OCATO OCATO OCATO!!!!!
Hope so - I remember this intro far more than I do most other intros, even ones made much more recently than this ones 12 years ago. :)
They got him back for Shivering Isles, he's the voice for Sheogorath's manservant.
That was Jeff Baker, not John Gilbert. Gilbert passed away months before Shivering Isles released.
the Emperor here is portrayed by John Normington who was in Doctor Who: Caves of Androzani.
Nope. He was potrayed by a local Seattle actor known as "John Gilbert".
Elder scrolls could be one hell of q serie
Such a great, and completely insane game this was. Man, I spent years playing it... takes crazy people to make a game area double the size of the United Kingdom.
Wow ! This intro look even more realistic than the Skyrim's trailer !!! They look just like the real people !
Somebody tell him
@@captaina-d7871 it seems someone needs to tell you
Ahh, memories.. My brother and I would laugh at how you could, one night, break into the weapon shop, steal all the gear, sneak back to your room, sleep, then go back in the morning and sell everything you stole back to the shopkeeper for loads of money! Was definitely an addictive game!
How are you 12 years later?
@@seronymus he probably has a job now
Hahah
The only one in the main line where you don't start as a prisoner.
The way he lights the torch is cool.
It's in the Northwest, in High Rock. If you do an image search for 'daggerfall map tamriel,' you'll get plenty of results.
Imagine the script for the other guy: "Just hold this torch and stare vacantly into the camera."
and thus, the largest of hams the empire has ever seen sends you on a quest
ohh god this is glorious
As I understand the Champion is an IT System Admin in Daggerfall.
Hail Daggerfall!
I still spend hours just reading books in random city library's.
^_^
wow can't wait to see this in skydaggerfall!
*skygerfall
Much better than hEy YoU yOu FiNaLlY aWaKe
@Freestyleforcerer Actually, there's apparently a longer version of his final speech in Oblivion, where he does say "marble jaws".
Epic, epic, epic. Morrowind lacks this.
Bullshit, Morrowind was Epic.
@@jankjason Morrowind was nowhere near as epic as DF
yea bro me too, like all my memories of being a little kid are of watching my brother play daggerfall when i was like 6 lol
lots of nostagia
all the Elder Scrolls games are awesome, including Oblivion!
You've got to see it!
i have to admit this is a good intro the acting makes it real it makes me imagine that i was there.
someday i will create a game as great as the elder scrolls or at least make it similiar
Did you create the game yet?
Yea have u created the game yet?
Bro it's been 14 years have you done anything?
"No one may know of this meeting."
Stands with lit torch at night.
That cutscene was like the intro my youth. 14 when Daggerfall came out and I played the shit out of it.
@chiffmonkey I believe so, as well. I've never played it but from what I've seen it looks very interesting.
Real Uriel so cool
I still recite this line when nobody is around. "Rest well this night..."
