As an American we appreciate that. We also love the Premier League here in America. Hyped for the World Cup where USA will play vs England and Wales both in the UK.
1989 a ten year old mexican kid in oakland california hears this masterpiece of football music for the first time and is instantly hooked for life . Even though my raiders are gone i still play this music pregame to pump me up .....football anyone?
Not Gonna Lie. This part later in the song at 1:24 - 1:52 sounds very much like the old San Diego Chargers 🔌 of 1964 and 1965. It makes me think of Number 80 of the San Diego Chargers 🔌 smoking a cigar saying, “I know the backs and fourths of these trails like the backs and fourths of me hand!!…” There’s nothing more Old Western than that!!
One of many NFL films memories for me is this song being played during Super Bowl VI highlight film when Roger is leading Cowboys O and slicing through the Miami D...
To my recollection, first time I heard this Sam Spence tune was at the end of NFL Films Superbowl VI highlights when John Facenda lauded the Dallas Cowboys' Doomsday Defense dominance over Miami that Sunday.
“They’ve got a chance to win this with a field goal!” “Wait, there’s a timeout, they’re gonna ice the kicker!” “.......... what is going on?” “I don’t know.” “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.” “The snap is good, dreads are up......” “IT HITS THE UPRIGHT!” “OH! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?” 2:49
Saturdays 4:30 pm 13 years old in 1973 after mowing the 2 acres out back with 21'' blade push-behind and relaxing and unwinding. I'll take that with a cold beer behind my parents back. Laughing!!
Also used: 1) 1971 Cleveland Browns - Season-opening 31-0 win vs. Houston Oilers at Municipal Stadium. 2) 1971 Pittsburgh Steelers - 26-9 win in Week 8 vs. Cleveland Browns at Three Rivers Stadium.
+Vito Anthony D. Well, I've always been fascinated by names. how they sound, what they mean etc. there's Jubilee Dunbar, Buzz Nutter, Caca Frita ( I kid you not ) ,many more. In your case, if the first name is Vito, you have to cap it off with something that sounds Italian. You can just translate Anthony to Spanish ( Antonio), but if you really wanna take this over the top, I say go with Antonini, or maybe Antonelli. You get what I'm saying here. I'm mean if your first name is Pepe, you wouldn't expect your last name to be Silverman.
+6400az Interesting branch of study. What if the first name were English and the second name Italian like Robert DeNiro, or Marlon Brando, or Al Capone? Now Al's name was Alfonzo but he went by Al. Italians born in English countries do this. They run from their names and change it to the closest English interpretation for instance Guiseppina to Josie, or Donato to Danny or Pasquale to Pete or Pat. I know one guy who goes to Ben from Panfilo. Explain that leap? The Church doesn't call their Saint Anthony Santo Antonio at least not in the West. I like Vito Anthony the way it is. It's my true name and is fluid in sound. I was born in Canada and lived among the English all my life. I was given the name in Canada so therefore I really wouldn't identify with Antonio. On a side note, I was however intrigued by the Antonin Scalia. I have never heard of the name Antonio spelled that way. If you can explain it, I would appreciate it.
Also used in the 1971 Miami Dolphins' highlight film (The Sensational Sixth Season). Starting at the 1:23 mark, the music seemed to mirror the part of the season where Miami hit a rough patch. In Week 12, Bob Griese went down with a shoulder injury, and the Dolphins lost at New England (remember the visual of the two shirtless guys dancing in the stands?). The woes continued into Week 13, where Miami lost at Baltimore. In the final week (2:49 mark), Miami bounced back to rout Green Bay at the Orange Bowl, and it was on to the playoffs.
awesome track when they used it for Super Bowl 5 "representing the newly named AFC and NFC conferences the Baltimore Colts met the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl V"
I picture a QB running a two minute drill in the freezing cold weather. Slow motion shot of him spinning out of a tackle, scrambling out of the pocket, pointing to his receiver and throwing a perfect pass to them before they step out of bounds.
I know the one your talking about. Never heard it other than in SB III. Devastatingly emotional.............just perfect, tho words the times, the players. Just perfect. For that, we have Steve Sabol to than for.
“The front wall of Nalen, Jones, Schlereth Zimmerman and Habib was called orange hush. A unit whose actions speak louder than words. Theirs was a performance that took the Jaguars breath away, as Denver ran and passed on Jacksonville with shocking ease.” If that isn’t genius writing, I don’t know what is.
I must admit as a British football fan(soccer to Americans), Sam Spence makes the best music of any sport. Period
I can definitely see/hear this music on a Chelsea highlight film...
Soccer is awesome
As an American we appreciate that. We also love the Premier League here in America. Hyped for the World Cup where USA will play vs England and Wales both in the UK.

Yeah sireeee
The soundtrack of my youth.
Football was an escape.
The CLASSIC music from all of the early "Slow-motion" NFL Films with John Facenda narrating..............LOVE IT!!!!!!
RIP John. He could make the most mundane play seem like an historic event.
“The frozen tundra of lambeau field”
There’s something about that spiral in slow motion that brings back that feeling!!!
The sure hands of Wide Receiver Fred Biletnikoff number 25 made the Raiders one of the league's most potent offenses
Where can I find these videos...miss watching them so much
"Staubach settled into his role of captain with poise and confidence" Super Bowl VI.
Thomas , Garrision and Calvin Hill Plundered the Dolphins,
I love the old football music. Hard hitting for its time.
I never knew this guy was like "THE" NFL music writer.... But I never knew there was so much NFL music either. Thanks for compiling!
Throwback to letting these songs play on repeat in Madden 08 replay mode.
I love this song, Sam Spence is amazing at creating NFL films music. I am so glad they came out with that collection of it for all to hear.
Man, this sends chills up my spine!
Rest in peace, Sam Spence.
Wait, he died
🌹🌹🌹🌹🎼🎶🎵🏈🏈
Sam Spence made me love NFL football even more 😄
Same here bro!
If you don't get fucking goose bumps when you listen to this, you were born without a soul.
I got four, does that count?

My all time favorite NFL Films musical piece.

First time I heard this was in the 1996 Green Bay Packers championship video. Memories.
At times, my all time favorite Sam spence song.

The countless hours of customizing plays and playbooks and toiling over roster decisions made quite enjoyable by this music in old Madden games menus.
Combining NFL film with this music is amazing. So motivation
This and Blockbuster are my favorites from Sam Spence/NFL films... so good
This is Sam’s best work
There’s nothing more iconic in sports film than the tight spiral in slow motion!!!!!
Found it at last - I remember this theme from the Super Bowl VI highlight film. 😁
SAM SPENCE IS THE MAN!!!!!! NO ONE WILL EVER CREATE NFL FILMS MUSIC LIKE SAM!
David Robidaux is great but their music is quite different, both good in different ways
Shout out to the original mind & spirit that came up with this whole series.

Favorite Sam Spence song
1:10 - this makes me picture a compilation of players celebrating while waltzing into the endzone
And TD is in for another Mile High Salute!
Dave Logan
TD for TD!!!!
I love this theme.
It's was used in the documentary Jim Brown All American. They put on some of his highlights... It was awesome
Goosebumps all over.
Im only 13 and I remeber this at the main menu of madden 06 and 7. Good times.
+Vito Anthony D. I think you should go by Vito Antonio....)
+6400az Why do you say that?

Sam Spence = Master of his craft
Love the NFL western theme in the music.
Inspired by the theme from The Magnificent Seven. As if that needed clarification from the title. ;)
Yes, Sam had a German orchestra....they were much cheaper. Those folks played with some power and passion didn't they ?

I picture a QB running a two minute drill in the freezing cold weather. Slow motion shot of him spinning out of a tackle, scrambling out of the pocket, pointing to his receiver and throwing a perfect pass to them before they step out of bounds.
From the 1976 Oakland Raiders highlights.
Love this song even if it's from the despised cowboy's highlight reel.
Awesome song
This just reminds me off a 1000 yard touchdown run to win the Lombardi yeahhhhhh
I know the one your talking about. Never heard it other than in SB III. Devastatingly emotional.............just perfect, tho words the times, the players. Just perfect. For that, we have Steve Sabol to than for.
