I think modern coin grading is a scam. First Strike designation is misleading. Even for older coins, I would have to see it before I buy it. The benefits you mentioned I agree with. Great overview
A lot of whether or not to slab ... seems to be collector's preference.
Is grading with it. Probably not. But sure is fun. Cac has a portal that makes it super fast and easy. And they turn a order in about 10 days
The grading of modern coins has been a boon to the grading services and to the large dealers who submit huge quantities of these coins at much reduced rates. Why would I care if the president of PCGS, Stephanie Saban, signed - most likely with an auto pen - the label ? 🤔 😲😳😬 🤣😂🤣

I buy almost exclusively raw coins. I did buy one slabbed coin that I wanted for my Dansco 7070, I broke it out for its new home. So, I have no slabbed coins now.
I don't foresee me sending anything out for grading. But when buying more expensive coins or coins that are commonly faked, it makes sense to have those coins authenticated before buying, even if you intend to break them out. or to have a good working relationship with a trustworthy LCS.
I'm collecting, not investing. That means I don't even think about proving a coin's authenticity for liquidating since that's not on my radar. I've got coins that have been in my possession for 50 years. I strongly agree with buy the coin, not the slab. Grading is inconsistant anyway.
Great comments, I value the authentication aspect for expensive vintage coins.

Your video title is: "Is Silver Coin Grading Worth it Or A BIG SCAM?" The answer is yes. Or, better said, it depends. I think you covered the salient points. For certain vintage coins, professional grading very much has its place and adds value. On the other hand, if I've gotten tied up with pictured/signed labels and a focused drive for modern MS/PF/SP-70 examples, it may be time to define what it is I am really collecting (and willing to pay). Point is, I've got to be honest with myself about what I'm spending on and why. There's nothing inherently wrong with collecting labels or slabbed bullion as long as I plainly understand it's a sunk cost. Deceiving myself about re-sale value is the catch.

I've never sent a coin for grading but I purchased a 2024 1/4 oz Brittania Liberty BU from the RM. The Proofs had a limit of 800 but I've not seen ANY of the BU's fir sale anywhere and the RM pulled this coin from thier site after 2 1/2 weeks. Thoughts?
I only buy modern graded coins if I think the price is reasonable. I try to build sets with similar labels if possible but will not pay a premium for any label or signature. I do not send any coins or bullion for grading. When I buy type coins I only buy them if they are graded because I want to have a sense of what I have in my collection and how much to pay for it; I do not want to guess the grade.
Only graded coins I collect is American Silver Eagles proofs NGC brown label PF69. Everything else is either raw or I break it out to put in a album.
I have graded coins and I have bullion for weight. In silver, I mainly stick with Silver Eagles. These coins are recognizable by everyone and I feel like they would be easier to sell or barter with. I do have a set of the 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars NGC MS 70 first day of issue coins. The D mint mark is well worth having in this condition. I buy whatever I feel like getting at the time because I have no plans on selling it and I consider it insurance.
For bullion coins, it's a marketing ploy, for numismatics, it may be worth it
Especially when it comes to modern coins, it makes no sense to pay 70 prices when you can acquire as nice a looking coin at a much lower 69 price. But I have no problem with individual collectors choosing to send their coins off or not. To each their own.
For me, buying graded coins or submitting them for grading, all depends on my goal. If I'm buying a coin because I think that it'll go up in value over the years, then I might have it graded. I also buy graded coins when sellers on ebay, are selling them for dirt cheap prices. I collect and I also invest. Typically on the investment side is when I would have coins graded. I'll also have certain older coins graded.
I'm for grading when 1 number could make a difference in value. Grading new proof coins (a majority are going to be 69's mostly with numerous 70's) makes little sense to me.Coin dealers will tell ya the same thing ,grading new coins is mostly inconsequential .The early release label is probably the most monetarially bad investment.Does not guarentee anything. Yes ,coin grading benefits mostly the Grading Companies.Of course there is a time & a place to grade a coin ! :) But mostl;y no.

The U S mint seems to be going down the same route as our Royal mint in Britain over pricing their product at least your coins are beautiful to look at unlike our ones great video sir i watch your channel all the time would it be possible to get one of your channel stickers please from English Dave 😃

better .There are a lot of fakes out there . The MS70 Peace and
Morgan's Is what I want . Franklins with a FB grade is what I
Buy . I have a registry set on PCGS . I am not into buying Graded

Modern bullion coin grading is a scam. Collector coins are another story. Remember to buy the coin not the slab.
Personally, I'm a little disappointed because the video didn't do what I expected.
I thought SW would say - I paid $A for this 1888 O Morgan Silver Dollar.
- I then paid $B to have it graded, labeled and slabbed plus $C in shipping.
- So I have $D in this coin.
-Was it worth it? Now has a grade by a recognized grader. Maybe has added value, etc.
-Or was I scammed? Can't really get more than I paid for it. Limits the appeal for some, etc.
Still gave you a like even if video was not what I expected, because I still appreciate you.

Putting modern coins and especially Silver Eagles in a slab is a scam. Just marketing that sucks you in. JMO. It's not like you buy something at the store for 6 bucks then give the clerk a 10 spot and you get 4 eagles in change. First strike, early release, PLEASE!

Never grade bullion coins. Not recommended to grade any modern coins.
Grading is good but labels are 100% a scam.

Grading, in my opinion, has value for vendors dealing with customers from distance. Other than authentication, doesn’t do much for me.

I have only sent in four coins to PCGS two 2019-s ASE enhanced reverse proofs and two 2020 ww2 ASE privy. Got a 70 and 69 for each, having those graded were worth it.

Unless it involves a rare variety or a distinct mint error I see no reason to grade modern coinage. As for older coinage again rare variety and distinct mint error, plus verifying a coin like a 1916 d mercury dime or a 1909 s vdb etc. authenticity is ok to weed out fakes. Otherwise you are just paying a company a lot of $ to put a coin into a plastic coffin.

I'm not really into graded ASEs or fancy labels. I am opposed to you about the bullion. I can at least see the sense in identifying or certifying that a bullion coin came from a specific mint. It's nothing i personally do, i have a bullion set, but just in capsules, not graded, just the nicest of each year i can find.
To go a bit further, there are years where only one mint made bullion ASEs. In those cases, having them graded, or as I would prefer to think of it, "certified", it really makes no sense to do it. There are some that are after a certain label, it chasing that "top pop", but that's just not my game. I preferred to go after OGP ASEs and sets so I can be fairly confident in saying I have a complete set, all sets and all individually issued ASEs, which I feel I've accomplished. As impossible as that seems. Some are happy having every year and mint mark, to them that's being complete, but not to me
