    Thanks for sharing your findings. I recommend this video to anybody who wants to ride the ACT Portugal. The first time I rode it with some buddies we were all surprised by the technical challenges on some parts. It is not shown on the ACT promotion video. We all found that misleading. The ACT was created specifically for big adventure bikes, which is different to the Trans Euro Trail (TET), which is recommended for smaller dual-sport bikes. However, having also ridden that on a 250 enduro, I found some sections of the ACT just as technical. As you say, this can be due to the weather washing out the tracks. Living in the Algarve near the southern end of the ACT gives me the opportunity to occasionally ride parts of it. Yesterday one particular section was really badly eroded, when compared to 2 years ago. Abracos.

      @@livelongrideonover70 I have to agree , having just done the Portugal route , the weather was terrible heavy rain all the way Lucky we fitted 80-20 off road tyres , it was a lot more technical than the Pyrenees route we did last year on 50 50 tyres . We were on 890 ktms , but both agreed it would gave been a struggle on a big gs even for a good rider . Admitted the weather probably didn’t help . We did some Tet in Spain on the way down and that was actually easier , great route but I think not so easy for novice riders or large bikes like a gs

    Thanks for showing us ACT Portugal and have some tipps and tricks for us. One day I'll ride ACT and TET. But since Portugal is a fair bit away, I need time. From Germany Italy, Romania, even the Pyrenees are not too far away. All done on my old Transalp 600. For trickier trails like TET UK/Wales solo riding I prefer the light Beta Alp 200. Too far to ride to Portugal on that small bike, though. Happy new season, Günter/Nürnberg

    Very good video, i agree 100% with your remarks , having it done from North to South in February. some sections are a real challenge, but the amount and variety of off road conditions is amazing ! Finally , i totally agree that you will go there for the ACT and will go back for the people , Portuguese people were mostly very nice and helpful ! an old man who was out hunting even helped me pick up my bike ! amazing country !

    excellent report, I did ACT Portugal a month or so ago N-S, had a great ride, agree about the 3% I thought they were a bit difficult going up, you must have had fun descending some of the more rocky sections. Always have enough snacks and water. considering a return trip to do it S-N. also check for local festivals, hotels can fill up. we had to divert 60km to find accommodation one evening .

    looking for advise and tips:
    - Anyone knows anything about roads or parts closed due to fire hazard now ?
    - If we don't have enough time do to it all what would be your favourite parts ?
    - wildcamping tips ?
    - is there a list of the 3% tricky parts ? Or is the latest track version different.
    - any tips on where we could safely park a van with small trailer to take off from for a few days riding ?

      @@OFFroadOFFcourse Hi Diogo, I sometimes get too tangled in the technical details of a trip. Thanks very much for your honest answer! I once rode my XL 500 from Belgium to South Africa, covering some 35.000km on a very wide scale of terrain; from crossing the Sahara desert to riding through the very muddy tracks in Central Africa. But that does NOT make me an expert by all means... And the XL500 was about 60kg lighter... (these good old bikes with no ABS or other extra junk weight) I will let you know how it went. Thanks for your reply and your nice YT channel!

    I have completed both ACT Pyrenees and ACT UK. So different. UK much more technical and muddy ruts. I would add at least 1 extra day to both trips. I have heard Portugal is not the easiest, with food and accommodation not readily available.

      @OFFroadOFFcourse  Год назад +2

      Accomodation is not terribly hard (specially if there is only 2 or 3 of you), and food I am 100% sure it wont be a problem. I mean... you wont have food every 500m, but there will be at least one good (not expensive) restaurant every 15-20km, so its all a matter of planning and using google like I mention on the video. Its only a problem if you have absolutely no practical travelling skills :P
