- From public praise to relief over cleaner water to falling into the pool in the gorilla suit, these Casa Bonita cliff divers had lots of stories to share, some going back decades. After all, the restaurant estimates they've had over 350,000 dives in its almost 50-year history.
In the 1990's, Casa Bonita was a must-go-to for our 3 young sons. (years later they were thrilled over the birthday party episode, which finally got me to watch SP). We'd fly up from Nashville, TN, in the mid 90's to early 2000's for summer and winter ski vacations in Breckenridge. In the summers, we'd rent a an SUV and drive all over CO., climb, camp, fish, raft, visit Buckskin Joe, Royal Gorge, chase trains, ride trains. Every summer trip, we always made the drive to Lakewood , and always had great seating to see the cliff divers and gunslinger duel. Then we'd go see Black Bart's Cave before visiting the novelty/magic shop nextdoor. It is alway a highlight in our family vacation memories. Recently, our oldest son was on a business trip in Denver and called to tell us that Trey and Matt had bought the old place. So, thank you guys for keeping this unique landmark standing; and the fun and festive atmosphere alive for future generations.
During my childhood (Summer of 2005 to be exact) my nextdoor neighbors cool and popular cousin came to visit, and we became friends right away. A problem I always had with him? He would brag about getting to do so many cool things.. and I still remembered this one to this day.
"YEAH MAN! I went to Casa Bonita last year and I GOT TO DIVE OFF A CLIFF into water! All the girls were watching and told me how brave I was! They totally wanted me"
It bothered me for so long that im now planning on going soon to cross this task off my bucket list.
let my boy dive🗣️
