  • My commute to work is a rough one. And doing it in a hot hatch was not going to end well. So does the Dacia Sandero fit my needs?
    Yes, yes it does.

The 1.2tce is prone to oil consumption and as an effect to catastrophic engine damage. Worst engine in their line up

50 litres officially! Unofficially, I fueled 60 litres for a full petrol tank - 10 litres are reserve for unexpected situations (all the car producers declare less than the real fuel tank capacity, to not remain without fuel and to affect their commercial image). ;)

The world needs more folk like you, we can all like cars and enjoy them, but an enjoyable car is not one that goes fast or has a posh badge, it is one that surprises you with its talents, especially if the price is right. Well done, great, personal video. Inspirational for those who believe that unreliable posh cars are the only cars to have... Your videos are MUCH better than Mat from CarWow, you talk about the car, not yourself all the way through.

Very nice review, glad it worked out well for you. Road noise is something we had to get used to as we always had more luxury larger vehicles with the kids, after they were gone we downsized, and went to less expensive and that was the only downside we found as well by doing it. It is true, one gets used to it quickly.

It is not a Renault car built in Romania. Like all Dacia cars, it is a car conceived and designed in Romania by the Dacia research and development department. It is the largest department after the one in France. By the way, this department works cars of the same class for Nisan and Lada. The cars are assembled in Romania, Russia, Morocco and more recently in China and are sold under the name Renault in South America and Russia and Dacia in Europe. The concept of cheap and good cars was a requirement imposed by Dacia when it joined the Renault group.

I actually recently bought one as well. My track car is a 99 Miata but driving it to work proved to be a really bad idea especially in the snow. So when my daily VW Golf died I bought a 5 year old Dacia for a price of a 15year old Golf... Its just a normal car, nothing to write home about, but it just works. And it works for cheap which means more money for trackdays, right? :D

This brand resisted because good reability and low cost of repairs on poor quality roads in Central Europe ,North Africa ,Middle Est, then in other countries.
Build quality rised in time .
Roads in Romania are now comparable like in UK in proportion of 85% .
But of course in same areas are better in Romania then in UK and vice versa.
I had some doubts myself about this brand but the pros far more then cons.
Good choice for the hard needs.
I will search myself for a sh Dacia MCV,van etc.
I hope you will enjoy this car with no bad events.

we have the same car and the mpg should be around 80 mpg on a good run if you change the oil and filters at 5 thousand miles . after market fuel filters can be a pain and leak at the connector where the fuel line joins the filter but it is easily solved using a couple of zip ties to hold the connection tight . check the mot history online to see if it has completed its recall some models were recalled even if they did not have the airc con issue or air con fitted it can only be cleared by a main dealers. forget the eco mode for long runs , it is meant for use in stop start traffic in town only . eco mode closes down the air intake to the turbo by 50%.
