+Lance Marchetti The move toward atheism is a long term trend. Your religion is a relic of a bygone age, like alchemy, astrology or the Gods of Olympus or ancient Egypt. such myths die slowly, and won't disappear altogether for some time.
- Hi Duncan, just wandering what brought you to this video then? If believing in a Supreme Being is a waste of time and will eventually fade out...do you believe somehow that you have been called to speed up the process? Just enlighten me on your mission please. Thanks Duncan Chalk
Lance Marchetti I don't have a mission, just giving my assessment of the situation-- its called an "opinion." I have nothing against belief in a Supreme Being, though projecting human traits such as desire, ego, will, intelligence or political affiliation onto such a "Being" is always a source of conflict.
No, but deriving desires, will, intelligence, and political affiliation FROM such a being is perfectly reasonable. You seem to have overlooked that concept entirely. Pity.
This was an excellent talk, i live post France terrorism, 9/11 and the Florida nightclub. The world simply has no answers that satisfy ! Atheism simply denies purpose and design and even more frighting a designer, Post Modernist chant a slogan "I think, therefore I am" and it is so flawed and inconclusive. Jesus simply takes the lost, broken and sometimes hateful people and breathes hope into them.
That's what a sin offering did: absorbed the sin and took the punishment for that sin. The offering was meant to cover the price, the debt owed to God. Think of the burnt offerings as paying the minimum monthly payment on the debt you owe. Jesus paid the full debt, the full price, of all our sins.
Triumvirate888 partially right. The sin offering by itself did not achieve forgiveness. More important was and is repentance of the person seeking forgiveness. Blood was not the only acceptable sacrificial offering in the Hebrew scriptures, people do not take on the sins of others and the sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to God. This shows that each person must repent and change to obtain forgiveness. This is more important than the sacrificial/burtn offering. This offering was never a person.
The Many Paths to God. The prerequisite for any of these paths to be valid is to know that God alone, you know, the one who created and controls the universe, and you as well: Only God alone can benefit you or allow harm to touch you, which you incur according to your actions. All real messengers of God have one job: to preach the worship of God alone and henceforth, teach a system by which we can be redeemed. Messengers are never to be worshipped. Our job? We are to submit whole heartedly by obeying God's teachings. God's teachings are brought by individuals who provide miraculous proofs that they are from God. We are the beings who have been misled by our arrogance, so we were sent to earth for a chance to reform. We are here to change. We are to become submitters to God alone. God knows the past and the future and He can run our lives successfully. So we must submit to His system. Submission to God has been taught all over the world, but all of these systems have become distorted beyond recognition. If they are devoted to God alone, there can be Hindu submitters to God alone, Buddhist submitters, Jewish submitters, Zoroastrian submitters, Christian submitters, Muslim submitters. But when we follow the teachings from men, then we have created an idol. Messengers bring God's word. Beware, God has allowed that there are always men who pollute God's words. The clearest path would obviously come from the most recent of God's messengers. God sent a messenger for our time period. He was prophesied in the older scriptures. I am talking about Dr. Rashad Khalifa. Here are some links for those who want the latest guidance from God. The Bible scriptures say the "most high God." The Bible never claims that there is only one God. In fact, it talks about other gods (false gods) quite a bit. While I respect Sikhs, I don't believe that "everything is One" or that everything is unified in God. If everyone and everything is unified in God, whey create us to begin with? That implies that God is incomplete, or needed something.
So basically this Christian person is saying there is only one true path to God (the Creator and sustainer of all life, who no one has ever seen) and that one and only path is Christianity because his Christian book written by men says so. Some of us say One God, many paths because we realize that God and his ways are mysterious. No one knows them fully. Men, limited as we are have done our best to describe God, who is limitless. We recognize that there are different faiths that have many commonly good practices. We are not omniscient and neither are our books...even the NT which has many known errors, by unknown authors, except Paul, who never even met Jesus, etc. It is man's limited interpretation of the Infinite, Allmighty God and his ways. Both Ezekiel and Jonah make it clear that most important is to repent and live righteously. There are people of different faiths who worship God, do their best to live in virtue and goodness. I am not so arrogant to say my way is the way. That is why it is called faith. God will judge.
I can only speak to my understanding of the Baha'i Faith by saying Baha'i's do not accept that "all" possible "paths" lead to God. Members of the Baha’i Faith accept the the claims of Jesus Christ and the Bible as the Word of God and understand Christ to be “the Word of God made flesh.” (John 1:14) But the Word of God is eternal. “In the beginning there was the Word.” (John 1:1) This is the Word of God that spoke to Moses through the burning bush and told Abraham that his children would outnumber the stars. It is the Word, not the flesh that is “the way, the truth and the life.” Krishna’s words also spoke of this eternal Way: “I am the Way and the Master who watches in silence. Thy Friend, and thy Shelter, and thy Abode of Peace. I am the beginning, and the middle, and the end of all things, their Seed of eternity, their Treasure supreme. - Bhagavad Gita 9:16-18. So are Buddha’s: This indeed is the Way - there is no other - for the purification of one’s vision. Follow this Way. I have taught you the Way … making the effort is your affair. - Dhammapada vs. 274-276. And Muhammad’s: “This is the way of thy Lord, leading straight: We have detailed the signs for those who receive admonition. For them will be a home of peace in the presence of their Lord: He will be their friend, because they practiced righteousness. - Qur’an, Surih 6:126-127. And now Baha’u’llah’s: …He hath manifested unto men the Day Stars of His divine guidance … and hath ordained the knowledge of these sanctified Beings to be identical with the knowledge of His own Self. Whoso recognizeth Them hath recognized God. Whoso hearkeneth unto Their call, hath hearkened unto the voice of God, and whoso testifieth to the truth of Their revelation, hath testified to the truth of God Himself…. Every one of them is the Way of God that connecteth this world with the realms above…. They are the Manifestations of God amidst men, the evidences of His Truth, and the signs of His glory. - Gleanings pp. 49-50. Christ also taught the oneness of religion when he said: “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” (John 10:16) -not that these others would know him as Jesus (His flesh) but that they would recognize His Voice (the Eternal Word) and “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” -John 14:2 Baha'is also understand Baha’u’llah to be the return of Christ, the promised one of all religions as foretold by Christ, and the Messenger of God for this age; the Word made flesh again in Him. “ I still have much to tell you, but you cannot yet bear to hear it. However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come.” (John 16:12) So Christ gave us tests so we can distinguish between false prophets and His return such as Mathew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” again He instructed us “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” This test implies we would need to use it and that his return would not be self evident but would come as “a thief in the night.” For a Baha’i response to these questions I would direct individuals to this video ruclips.net/video/e9TXPL8h0nw/видео.html and his channel in general. If you are inclined you can investigate the Baha’i Faith at bahai.org much love :)
@@abbast.3606 I guess I should have said many paths instead of all paths. By all paths, I meant all "good" Paths. Those that seek goodness and truth, both in spiritual path, how we treat others and how we live.
overcomeevilwithgood No, Jesus and the Father are One. This might well need unpacking: analogy first - we are humans. You are. I am. That is our nature, and one we share in common. Yet who I am (Iluvantir as my internet name for now), that is my personality. That is utterly unique, just as your personality is utterly unique. In God's case, being God is 'what' he is.; his nature. Yet he doesn't have one personality. There are three: The Father, The Son and The Spirit. Three Persons, One Nature. Three Persons, One God. The Father is God, the Son is God, the Spirit is God. There is only One God. Nature and Personality. They are not the same.
Jesus Christ is God, the Son, and Holy Spirit. God in the flesh as Jesus came down to reconcile us to Him. For GOD so loved the world!! God loved us that He Himself came in flesh as Jesus the Christ!! He is ONE !!
Matt 12:18 would seem pretty silly if Jesus were God. Scripture is clear that Jesus had the spirit of God inside of him and that God was in him. There is one God and one mediator between men and God, the man Christ Jesus (1Tim 2:5). Jesus is not God.
WE OBEY JESUS 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 If the Word was God and Jesus is the Word, then there is no possible way you can claim Jesus is NOT God.
Your comment is, well, so, arbitrary and assumptive. How do you know that "it's all just a living for him"? Your assertion that he is not "honest" or "nice" is just so weird.
Why you have SO much trust in the bible I have no idea. Agreed Jesus is a wonderful figure as is the message about him. Beyond that the God (Jehovah) is very plainly shown to be continually angry, forgetful, vengeful, jealous, murderous, and he literally commanded genocide, slavery, and sexual slavery (concubines). Beyond that, any objective study of the book reveals many hundreds of internal contradictions. Tons. For instance, at the tomb, did Mary "immediately run and tell the disciples" what she saw or did she "tell no one" what she saw. Depends on the gospel you read. Did Judas take the 30 pieces of silver and cast them onto the temple steps then hang himself or did he use the money to "purchase a field of blood". Acts says the latter, Matthew the former. Many, many more examples could be mentioned. One more... John says Jesus was crucified on a Thursday, the other gospels say Friday. We no NOTHING about Jesus outside the bible, we know about what xians believed, that is all. Beyond that there are literally millions of differences between early manuscripts of the gospels. This is quite obviously because the bible has been heavily edited by the church. A lot of evidence for this. Beyond this the books of the bible were selected by men 300! years after the alleged events, at the council of Nicea. Beyond this xians treat the bible AS IF it was dictated by God. NOTHING in the bible even comes close to saying this. Beyond that the bible is full of stories that obviously are not literally true. The world is just not 6,000 years old, add up the generations from Adam, that is what the book plainly says. There were millions of animal species at the time of Noah. Do you really believe millions of species floated around in Noah's ark for a year? Seriously? This biblical fundamentalism was just not believed at all by many of the church fathers, like Origin. This speaker gave not one reason to read the bible in the fundamentalist way he is reading it. Also, the speaker strongly suggests "God" is going to torture all non-xians in fire forever and ever while (weirdly) claiming that God is just and good and all powerful. Sorry dude, your story is just not believable. The speaker's condemnation of all non-xians is immoral and self-serving and unlike the Christ he says he follows.
Gosh, it seems that you have bought it into every cliche that ill-informed atheist evangelists post on the Internet. I have an idea for you, take all your cliche assertions and search for the answers by informed Christians. The reason you probably will not do that is that, informed, logical, reasoned answers are not what you want to hear. Example, the Council of Nicea never discussed the Canon (the contents of the Bible). Regarding Jesus: the most secular academics (humanists, atheists, agnostics, liberals) agree that the crucifixion of Jesus is one of the most certain facts in human history. Why? Because the evidence is so overwhelming. By the way, the words Thursday and Friday do not appear in the Bible. The Bible edited by the Church? There are thousands of manuscripts if you study the manuscripts are all alike. The New Testament is the most attested to ancient work. You call him, the speaker, immoral? What is morality? What is the basis of your objective morality? There are billions of people in the world? Your morality is just one of billions of opinions. In your worldview, Ramsden's morality is right for him--so he is moral.
Great delivery of God's Word!!! God blessed you and your family in CHRIST JESUS!!!
Enjoyed every minute of it!!! To God Be The Glory!!!
I wish churches had taken this approach years ago...before we started losing the culture and the generation...hope it's not too late. Praise God.
