  • In this video review I talk about my experience photographing with the Leica M6 and why I decide to choose this particularly camera as my everyday camera.
The Leica M6 is a legendary film camera that is incredibly popular but what makes this camera so popular? That is the question that I am to answer while also giving my first hand experience with the camera.

Great video, and story. I’ve never shot digital photography, I’ve been shooting film all my life, (80) years old. The waiting is the best part ! Thanks, Rick….. 🌴

I'm 70 years old. I shoot both Film and digital. If I see something truly special, I hope I'm holding a film camera.

Great video! I’m feeling the exact same thing now. Sold my M6 due to price and film processing. Now having heaps of fomo and miss the magic and simplicity. Just recouping funds now to purchase another one and I can’t wait!

    Thanks for the video.
I shoot a Leica M6 with the following lenses:
    90mm f/2 Leitz
    35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
    21mm f/1.4 Leitz
Before the M6, I used Canon, Minolta, Contax, Fuji, and Argus rangefinder cameras. The price of the Leica M6 is irrational. The camera is not. The M6 is my personal favorite 35mm rangefinder camera.

You are like me, i HAVE THE SAME ULTRA IWATCH and also own an M6, Although mine is in Black. Love my M6! I will hand it down to my son when i leave this world. By the way they do NOT break down that easy, they are built and work like TANKS!

Love that friend, my plans are the same as well. The Ultra video is next!

Why would a Leica 'breakdown at any point'? It's one of the few purely mechanical cameras left and extremely well made. I thought peeps bought them specifically for being less prone to breakdown.
You can get a number of cameras that have no LCD on the back and no distractions. Like a Contax G1 or a Nikon 35Ti. I'm not being critical, I'm just saying there's no rational argument why we all love Leicas. 🤣🤣

OK price of film is an issue...but a roll of Kentmere 400 costs something like 5 €/$, and developing at home probably costs less than 1 €/$ per roll in chemistry. You probably have a digital camera that you can use to scan your film (some additional gear might be needed, but you can start with remarkably little dedicated gear while still getting good results), and even a smartphone probably gives results that are good enough for social media if that's your goal (I'd say darkroom printing is the ultimate goal...but many people only care about likes).
This brings recurring costs down to 6 €/$ per roll. Not counting a digital camera, my entire scanning setup, software included, cost me around something like 300-400€, and I get amazing colors, and enough resolution to be limited by film grain.
Shooting film is expensive, but not 30 €/$ per roll expensive.

You buy a film camera for the same reasons you buy an acoustic guitar. Fine acoustic guitars are more expensive than electric (digital). Recording or using them for professional use requires digitizing the sound. In concerts you still have to mike them. But theres nothing like acoustic. In photography theres nothing like film. An M6 is a Martin D28

why should a Leica break down on you??? Sorry but that is just not ture. They are handbuild and fully mechanical. Your light meter can break down, okay but then you can still use you M6 just as normal. And even if the mechanics shloud break - what barly ever happens - you can still get it repaired easily.

The sad fact that you are a wedding photographer explains everything. You're a slight cut above an insurance salesman.

I just saw his 5DIV video that he sold it because he wasn’t a wedding photographer no more.

I shot weddings for twenty years. On film, I never switched to digital. Just for your info, I needed to know my camera, film, lighting, etc. to successfully capture a one time event. There was no cheating by looking on a screen. There was just imbedded knowledge as to take a good photo. So, never knock wedding photographers, we are (or were) the most accomplished photographers out there. No second chances ! 😎
