Living in India is actually quite good if only we did a better job with our infrastructure, filth, and general public discipline. It is only after living in places like Japan, US, UK, etc. that we realize that what shines from a distance is not necessarily great.

dude you forgot the lower middle class and the majority of people in India, they do not earn living wages that can help them to afford houses, car, proper food, and education. we do not pay them that well in India, that is why they live in illegal places and slums, also this is the same reason things look cheap in comparison to developed countries. If you start paying minium living wage in India to all the lower wrokforce , things will also get expensive in India and they will have a decent life.

If you know Japanese Language N2-N3 and you are non-veg i.e you love seafoods Takoyaki, beef, pork, Chicken etc. If you don't have fascination about cars, would love to live in a smaller city with plenty of natural beauty etc Then Japan is a dream country for you.

Really, Japan is this one country which can be accessed without a car! Car ownership always costs no matter where we live.
For Vegetarians, they've to learn to cook. They've to schedule their time properly and can prepare some Meal preps for a quick cooking or something to save time. Learning to cook actually saves money for Non-veg foodies as well. Afterall, eating out everyday is expensive.

      Superb & balanced advise.👍👍👍.
And the places you mention ring such a pleasant bell.. 👌👌.
Precisely the sort of mature & studied opinion that os required. No situation (esp foreign work locale) is absolutely smooth & easy. Be ready to adopt & adapt.
And btw, how much so ever I may like my country, there is simply no comparison between living & work conditions of India vs Japan..
The cleanliness, basic convenience in walking on streets & roads, public transport, parking , govt Interface, even local work culture, interaction with Japanese colleagues (In India, its a shit-house with malicious office politics everywhere) , the focus on quality, perfection in each & every task...is simply awesome & cannot be compared with India. and sorry to state that..
Because of elementary differences in sheer population, the enormous difference in spending power, incomes is so great, that apart from. few (very few) pockets in large cities, India can never get there., atleast another 25 years.
(And that too if imbecile RaGa doses not wrest powenxt yr r via a rag-tag political alliance & turn the economy back on its head) //sorry to get political here, but it cannot be denied that Modi did substantial got IN/JP relations //
      Be that as it may,
I shudder to think of the reverse, of how a Jap expat would survive in, India.. No wonder Japanese, Korean expats are paid really generous 'hardship allowance'. Coz it must ve just so tough for them, and if they get family here then it's a entirely different ball game altogether.
For domestic comparison, Tokyo & Mumbai are akin to comparing living with say a Lucknow or Ujjain in UP with a Pune /Mumbai in Maharashtra.
There are pockets of excellence, but very far & few,.

I lived in japan for more than 20 years and i can say that if u are a permanent resident and u are paying everything by yourself is a very hard thing . A lot of people does not understand how to live in japan. You have to pay too much taxes and everything is really expensive. Those taxes are (road tax, health insurance/pension is a must to pay, house rent, electricity bills .gas bills , internet bills, fone bill, resident tax, salary tax .
This is just an example calculation base on my experience.
    Salary/month
    180000
    Salary tax
    9000/10000
    Shakai hokken/ insurance
    30000/38000 depends on age
    Fone bills
    8000 up
    Apartment
    40000 up depends how big
    Internet
    6000
    Electricity
    4000 up depends on usage
    Water bill
    2000 mostly every 2 months
    Gas
    8000 up depends on usage
    Car gasoline
    8000 depends of the usage
    Car shakken(2 years)
    80000 up depends on car
    Parking
    4000 up every month
Resident tax is 10% ~up of your whole year salary . And lastly food.. food is expensive in japan
As i was alone my food cost me 40000-50000 every month. So as i gave a sample of bills on normal areas (not tokyo) u can see how much costly in japan and your salary is not that high to cover all of it. That’s why most people there specially foreigners do double jobs to atleast save a little or send money to their families. And now i am happily living in india with my indian husband. I honestly love japan but when u get older u will realize that its not worth it. Specially nowadays the economy of japan is pretty bad. But its easy to find a job in japan actually when u have proper visa. Highschool grad or didn’t even finish elementary is accepted on factories as long as u can do the job. And lastly don’t ever forget u can’t be noisy is japan. Loud music/tv or u yourself is very loud . It’s not allowed or the police will knock on your door because japanese people will report u. Even if it’s afternoon or the sun is up it doesn’t matter. Noise is not allowed there.

Australia returned to India after 7 year residence. You are paying for the privilege to live in the country. Taxes get recycled into society. Indians have a migrant mindset where they want to squeeze every dollar/yen l, multiply it br Rs 60 and send it to India using unofficial channels or low cost forex remittance operators. Most Australians/Japanese live very tight and you are no better nor worse off than the locals. If you want to send cash back to India, work in an oil rig in Saudi Arabia.

We have lived in many countries: the UK, the USA, Australia, India and Japan. Japan is the best regarding safety and cleanness. PR (Permanent Resident-ship) is possible if you work for about 10 years. Language is a problem but in your work place it is not a problem. Public transport is very efficient and always available. Vegetarian food is available in the restaurants, Indian restaurants, and in MossBurger. If you go back to India once a year you can use International Driving License, which lasts for one year. Children's education is a problem. If your child does not want to learn Japanese you have to find out International School or send your child to India to stay with relatives.

As you said earlier, that language can be a barrier in your day to day life, so that can be improved by learning and practice obviously. And I can do normal house chores and cook food. But I can cook only Indian food. So, are there any stores available there with Indian grocery items? Like what we eat here. And since I'm vegetarian, I can't eat any meat. So I need to know this.
Also, if we were to travel in Japan, can we find suitable vegan food for us to eat and survive there for a few days?
Are Japanese people racist towards outsiders like us?
Please I'm begging you to answer my questions. I want to have advice from someone who has lived there and experienced the things there.🙏 Please give me a reply🙏

No offense but the kind of rant you did regarding owning a personal vehicle feels wrong, there's a reason why most of the people in Japan use public transport and the public transport itself is so efficient that you do not feel the need of a car.
Hence less cars on road, better air quality less pollution, less traffic. Which is way better than what we have here in India.
Yes it's not very convenient if you have to go on a road trip let's say or you need to go somewhere urgently, for that you can definitely book a car. It's not like you have to book everyday so it's fine.

Well I totally agree with him.. I have visited to Japan couple of times for business meetings and that too the the higher management in some of big companies in Tokyo like Nissan, Sony and many other MNC. Not even higher management speaks English. And it’s very tough to get get along. Food is pathetic and don’t ask the situation in Metro. Everything is confusing and in Japanese. And Taxis are not expensive but super expensive. 1km will cost you 400-500 yens
