Watching your videos saved me from having to drive to the nearest large town to get some springs I badly needed, and the money in gas plus the cost of the factory springs. Thank you for posting these videos.

I've watched a number of how to make springs videos in the normal course of watching maker/machining vids on YT.
Until recently, haven't needed to try; my big box of springs, combined w/ never throwing springs away has served me well.
Then I needed to repair a shop vac motor exposed to moisture & age. It needed torsion brush springs wound opposite to every torsion spring I had or could buy of the right gauge wire.
About to start manufacturing the type of apparatus I've seen numerous times, this morning, in a few hours, I decided to take another look through YT vids.
Am I glad I did. You have saved me several hours of machining & assembly I was about to invest in $0.20 springs.
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks to your excellent tutorials, I was able to make the wire catch and then wind the new torsion spring I needed and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.🧬

Visitor from Marius Hornberger. Quite a lovely and easy set-up. Just buy a chuck, and a piece of wood to stick it through and a handel, and you can make springs in the garage! :)

Why don't you make the catcher hook before you mount and wind on the mandrel ?
