      Hi Dr. Susan! Do you know why insurance will not cover these pellets for women? Insurance covers low T in men, so why not us? Thanks 😊

      Dr Hardwick are Bioidentical hormones available to be prescribed through BOTH Compounding pharmacies (I understand those hormone levels may differ each time) and FDA-regulated pharmacies (where you can be assured of their levels)?

    • @Chris-hr3fc
      @Chris-hr3fc 2 года назад +21

      Thank you Dr. Hardwick-Smith. Between you, Dominique and Dr. Barbie Taylor I have learned so much about how to protect my brain, bones and heart by regulating my hormones, for the rest of my life. I am still looking for a provider that will read my labs and won’t break my bank like so many of these “hormone centers” will. My BHRT cream is partially covered by my insurance and so are the labs. The “hormone centers” won’t file insurance. They too are doing women a disfavor. It’s time for women to take charge of their health and insist insurance companies take care of us. Many women don’t realize Alzheimer’s and heart attacks, as well as osteoporosis are in direct correlation to having a hormonal imbalance for a long period of time.

    • @Chris-hr3fc
      @Chris-hr3fc 2 года назад +6

      @@SarahHLeslie Hi Sarah, many docs won’t prescribe a bioidentical compound, it took me awhile to find one that would. FDA can’t regulate compounds, there are too many different pharmacies and too many different variations (such as using smaller granules or a glycerin base etc). Just find one and get to know the compounding pharmacist. Find out how they make it and discuss how they insure it’s the same each time. Dr. Barbie Taylor (Menopause Barbie) suggests using patches or troches for regular dosing and FDA regulation, not compound pharmacies. I use a compounding pharmacy but I prefer using the bioidentical hormones. Check out Menopause Barbie’s channel.

    Unfortunately Testosterone therapy is causing hair loss. I got OD'd on T pellets the first time so decided to back off and started low dose T cream. I so wish I could get my #'s up cause I do feel better with more T in me but this hair loss is scary and has been very traumatic for me. Now I'm forced to get on yet another medication to try and save my hair...something called Spirololactone. My doc now checks my DHT level and says if it's over 14 hair loss will happen. Mine is usually around 15-20. My Total T is only around 50 but I don't bind my T so my Free T is usually kinda high at 7 or 8 sometimes. I'm sadly stuck on this stuff or I get terrible body aches!

Doctor severely cautioned me about getting dehydrated while on Spirololactone. Said to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Can cause renal failure if not constantly hydrated. Also moderate to heavy alcohol consumption can be dangerous.

    I've gotten 6 rounds of pellets but never "seen" it before! Thank you! I get mine in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the Healing Sanctuary. It's a beautiful mix of regular medicine and "outside-the-box" thinking for healthcare like nutrition IV's, ozone IV's, hyperbaric, med spa, and hormone pellets. I get testosterone and estrogen. It costs about $250 for women, but you can buy a few rounds in a membership package and it brings it down to about $200. After 5 weeks they draw labs and if you need more, you can get a free "boost" which extends the time out before you need it again. I give a hearty AMEN to all of the benefits of testosterone you listed but one I did not hear mentioned that has been a game changer for me is it improves "smooth muscle" function which aids in urinary continence for me. Oh happy day.

    My gyn overdosed me on testosterone pellets for so long before I realized (with horrendous side effects for a woman) and to the point that two years later I'm still recovering. Bioidentical hormone therapy can be fine but DO NOT get another dose without making the doctor check where your levels are at first Every Time. DO NOT get treated off just how you feel and your symptoms because too much testosterone feels the same as a pellet actually wearing out.

    I tried the pellets for 5 yrs, but now I prefer testosterone and Estradiol in a cream that I rub on my skin each day. I take a progesterone pill at night. Once the pellets are in, if it isn’t the right dose, you have to wait 3-4 mos for it to wear off! With the creams, you have more control. If the cream dose isn’t right, it wears off in 12 hours. Pellets give you a big punch of hormones when they’re inserted the first month or so, but you feel the effects wearing off. With daily creams, there is a nice steady dose.

    • @jaeshasway
      @jaeshasway 2 года назад +12

      Would that have to do with the mix? Hair loss could be too much testosterone. I have to go back every 6 weeks for blood test so the dr can check the hormone balance. I’m 1 week in and so far the fatigue is crazy so not sure if I can make it 5 more weeks. I can only work about 5 hours and I need to lay down. My guess is too much estrogen and not enough testosterone, but I’m definitely afraid of of getting too much of any 1 thing. I also found the insertion area to be extremely sore. This doctor is making light of it, but 7 days later and I can’t lay on that side and it’s still swollen and painful. Also having low back pain. This process is definitely not 1 size fits all. 😩

    HRT pellets changed my life! I get estrogen and testosterone in the pellets, and take progesterone in a daily pill. I think the important thing for women to know is that just because their OB/GYN are not talking about this or recommending it doesn't mean it's bad or dangerous! Just like Dr. Susan, they haven't been trained. My primary care doctor referred me to a medical gynecology specialist for menopause care. And my physician tells me he has as many men come to him for pellets as women. Because the thing is, it kind of sucks when a woman gets her hormones balanced, but her man is still unbalanced.

I had to have an emergency biopsy and several ultrasounds. It was the worst experience ever. I even shared info with her for her other patients. I was sort of glad to see this video of the procedure, but at the same time am happy to not know what is going on back there!! LOL Personally it took quite a few months to find the right dosage levels for my body, so be patient and be aware of your body so you can have constructive conversations with your BHRT doc. My energy both mentally and physically has improved, I now sleep like the dead which is an incredible gift, and the best part is my libido. I have always had a low drive and when I went for this I found out why. Apparently my testosterone was always low. Now I know what a balanced drive feels like! Needless to say, hubby really likes the new me. 😄 Also, don't let the cost sway you. I had to consider how much my old self was costing me in poor energy, poor sleep, and poor libido. Those 3 really affected all of my relationships. BHRT is worth every cent.

    I understand that some women might need this. All my great aunts, mother (89) have eaten well, remained active, lived until 99s and never needed any of this.

    Heather Hirsch did a You Tube video regarding this video and was clear that testosterone pellets are not safe. I’ve been on HRT for two years taking FDA approved estrogen and progesterone. HRT is very effective when done right, but that does not include these types of pellets. I’m disappointed that this video was posted…I think it was irresponsible.

I am certainly going to send this video to my big sisters. Thank you so very much for including your followers.

    Soooo... Had this done in Miami for years. Never a issue. I moved to st Pete and went to Dr Carlos REYS and had testosterone and estrogen. Immediately I was in pain for two weeks. He placed them deep on my butt muscle, its been 6 months I one palette poped out in my bed. The other still somewhere in there. !!!!! Now I have a butt cheek infection what's called a sterile infection. ??????? No he wants to surgical remove what they can't find. Omg. I am going out of my mind. This is the way it SHOULD BE ..please do a revised video with your Dr of after pellets. I am furious.. I have no idea what to do but I have no intentions of them digging around my butt ..shouldn't a surgeon do thus ??? Help. Dominique!! Xxxooooo

    Thank you so much for this valuable information! Last year, After watching your interview with Dr. Susan, I was able to start HRT and get my quality of life back. I’m 50 and thought I had to suffer through the loss of sleep, mental fog, and anxiety of menopause. None of my doctors had even discussed these options with me. I will definitely look into testosterone replacement pellets. Thanks to Dr. Susan! Dominique, I appreciate you so much for sharing!

    Wonderful video Dominique! I’m 45 and all of this information is so helpful. I’m seeing my Dr. now for help with perimenopause and I’m taking birth control. I’ve always wondered when a switch needs to be made from the pill to HRT.

    Very interesting! Two questions - is there an age limit where you would be too old to start this - is there a cream that you can rub externally on your arm (or somewhere) and get a similar effect. O.K.three questions - does this help the acuity of the mind? THANK YOU!!

    Loved this video. I have been so afraid to do this. I have friends that do it and they look amazing. I have lost muscle mass, cellulite has taken over my body, no libido at all, dry skin and I hate it. I am going to find out who my friends use and make a determination on who to schedule an appointment with. Thank you both!

    It’s so great that you are raising awareness about BHRT! My concern is that your discussions here are ONLY about pellets. So many women think this is the only way to go and end up getting too high a dose initially and their hair falls out while they try to cope with the anxiety high T can cause. Even Dr. Susan alludes here to the potential for overdose in early stages, so clearly it is easy to do even for pros. So I wish you would include more information about starting low and slow while you adjust to the hormones and find the right balance between E, P and T... especially discussing that topicals are a great place to start to avoid potential overdosing in the beginning and then moving to pellets. Because these bad early experiences often convince women to give up too early on BHRT. She also speaks so little about Progesterone which is unfortunate, as that is key to the symphony that is our female hormones. I have been on BHRT for 15 years or so and credit them for saving my life and my marriage, because my premenopausal symptoms were so extreme.

      Thank you! I was thinking the sane thing. I've used cream Biest/Test and pill Progesterone. It took 1.5 years to get it dialed in because I was so sensitive to the estrogen. I've thought about switching to the pellets but I am such a weakling with needles that I think I will stay with the cream.

      I was given way to much Testerone even after having lab work done.Terrible side effects...and yes once the dose is given all you can do is put up with them adverse side effects until they wear off.This has happened twice!! I've been about ready to give up on them!!

    • @whosvoice

      @@barbarapease9686 I would encourage you not to give up. You are probably more sensitive than your prescribers give you credit for. If you find a provider who is more knowledgeable and will prescribe topical BHRT creams, you can start low and slow and have control over this your own self on a daily basis. This is honestly how hormones are meant to be introduced, giving your receptors time to get used to the hormones being introduced. But prescribers love this method cuz they make more money on it than with creams. Seriously. I have been on BHRT creams for almost 15 years and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am so much healthier, happier, my skin-hair-nails are better, my libido is strong, it's just a joy.
