This is my favorite bit of Elder Scrolls lore
imagine you're listening to some rush, you click on the channel that did the upload, then you find out why lizard creatures from your favorite game has breasts
My personal belief is that ALex is one of - if not the most - underrated guitarists of all time. his playing in songs like this proves this. And it's always amazing what three guys with supernatural talent can produce. I've senn them in live over 100 times (been a fan for as long as I can remember), and they almost always play and sound great.
Ive been to concerts since 1975. David Gilmour, Peter Townsend and Lifeson are the best ive ever seen
Who knew that this channel would become for Elder scrolls lore
alex and geddy singing together is heaven
Today I learned LeftoverPat has a live Rush video that’s almost at 1M views
Geddy is such an amazing bassist and singer. Alex is an amazing guitarist. Neil is a FUCKING INSANE drummer.
I think they should just have a tour for only Alex singing and Geddy for backup. It would probably being pretty funny.
Holy shit they should do that
Yes it would probably being.
Alex doesn't have a bad voice
This aged rather poorly...
:((((
geddy's doing some amazingly high vocals for his age
WOW! I never actually saw Lifesons voice overpower Geddies before in a live show! Great video, over 30 years, and still one of the most talented bands on the face of the Earth. Keep it up guys!
Neil Peart, one of the best drummers on this planet. He's also a great writer who has suffered and overcome much loss in his life..
On a fortune hunt that was fast to fleet, in my opinion.
@@stevelear90 You mean "far too fleet", don't you?
@@dibber43 Yes. Damn autocorrect
"Each of us, a cell of awareness. Imperfect and incomplete. Genetic blends, with uncertain ends.
On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet..."
Brilliance.
Man you can really hear Alex sing on this one.
I wish Alex sang more.
Geddy Knee SUBDIVISIONS
@@FrankDad it's neil peart
@@SUP3RKAPON how RUclips did replies back then was just the user name. So it was the reply to the original poster, then my comment. But fr, that was Neil and not Alex?
@@FrankDad Yes it was Neil. Alex just lip-synced the word.
Ged looked over at Al after the real high vocal part and said...."see TOLD YOU I'd hit it!" :)
probably lol
I think Ged was giving him the stink eye because Alex missed a chord in the progression. 🤣
Everyone loves those high vocal lines after the solo....pure greatness!..
RUSH WORLDS GREATEST 3PIECE ORCHESTRA🥁🎸🎸🎙🎼🎵🎶
R.I.P. NEIL PEART💔 YOU ARE MISSED. RUSH ON
I love the way you can really hear Alex during the chorus! When they came to OKC 2008 at the end of The Larger Bowl they really cranked up his volume. It was like Alex was singing lead and Geddy was singing back up! It was a really cool part of the show.
Alex singing.
The talent in this band is sick! On the 8th day God created Neil Peart.
it is really annoying when the camera does not focus completely on the guitar player, during the guitar solo..
***** the problem is that there's also a bass solo and a drum solo going on at the same time!
Lars Erik Brobakken true, but that moment is alex moment..
***** i see what you're saying, but this wasn't a solo. it was an instrumental bridge. everyone was playing their asses off. i actually came here looking for geddy at that part. so i was pretty happy.
Ian Houldsworth according to alex himself, this is a solo, and even one of the most difficult ones for him.
kid gloves Sorry, but a Rush solo isn't just a guitar solo, the entire band is doing a solo. You gotta show them all.
Its so cool to actually hear Alex singing in the mix...
I'm very, very proud of Rush as a Canadian citizen.
They are the very quintessence of the Canadian soul, a band with the desire and ability to connect with others, and to play upon your heartstrings. The fact that they have chosen music, and Rock and Roll as an unusual, but incredibly fitting outlet for thier deep desire makes them all that much more admirable...

I met Alex circa 1995. Very nice man.
Alex, Neil, and Geddy are all the best at what they do. Hail Rush.
Christ, they’ve changed my life. I love this guys.
I never knew Alex could sing like that.
that's so smart they'll have clean clothes for the backstage party
Haha! What's up with the laundry machines on stage?😂
@@C4M3120N Beginning in 1996, Geddy stopped using bass amps on stage so he wanted to fill the space with something ridiculous. He has done refrigerators, washing machines as seen here, rotisserie chicken ovens, and popcorn machines.
It feels good to find an 14 years video
They have never written a bad record,I just cant get enough of them.
wow Alex can actually sing pretty well! Everyone already knows he's amazing at guitar and that Geddy owns on bass and vocals and that Neil is a ridiculous drummer, but now we know that Alex can sing!
It's true, though the poor guy can still kick the crap out of the song at 54. Geddy Lee remains one of the most multi-talented musicians out there. I mean, who can think about playing bass, singing, and working footpedals at the same time?! Not to mention working the odd keyboard here and there.
Good on ya Lee! Age hasn't stopped Rush, nor will it ever!
It's snowing Cats and Dogs here, I'm listening and watching a Summer Toronto Music Festival made spectacular by Rush et Company..What a great place Norte Americana really is....ajf
Wow, this must have been Rush's first video on RUclips
Look up Rush on RUclips, there are quite a few videos of them.
ruclips.net/video/VrBWZscNR18/видео.html
Holy crap you can actually hear Alex singing
These guys are absolutely awesome. Just saw them (again) this past August. Tight.
I want to take this sound guy to every concert I go to. Every concert I go to, the singer is always distorted, the guitars and drums are always at maximum level & it just sounds like noise. This sounds nice & raw, like you're in a rehearsal studio with them, and you can hear everything, esp. Geddy's bass.
Just sublime....
And it's great to see that Alex is human...(3.15)
:)
This video has been online ten years and it still has less than one million views. Shocking.
It peaked a few years ago at 700k when a better quality and more official version came out. Also more live versions have come out since then, of course!
I find it odd that the sound man had Alex's vocal mic turned up so loudly!!!!
Best Band.ever, And guess what? You have Freewill - you are not a puppet. Choose life - Jesus Christ!
I never knew Rush did outside concerts Wow I always see them in doors all the time. They sound better inside, those keyboards just go where they wanna go when thier outside.Too...much space there a band that likes sound control,I know that probably bothers them because they always wanna give thier best, and they sound better at night, because a lot of thier songs got moody temples in them pretty much a galactic music light show experience..I love thier music and thier performances...thier Awesome...!!!
Masterpiece! Love the laundy
Acho que já ouvi mais de mil vezes essa música ao vivo... Saudoso RUSH !!!
This was the summer of 2003. They played in Toronto with AC/DC, The Stones, The Guess Who, and many others as a fund raiser for SARS. There was over 500,000 people there, one heck of a good time!
He sings pretty often, though this time he sung a bit loud
Is that a harmony? I can't tell, sound is iffy
It's very raw. Maybe a bit cold. They haven't played in a while, but I like it
plays bass like a god then sings at the same time, true epicness
Incredible band! My wife's Canadian and I am thus proud to be connected via her and her family to this, the band I consider to be the greatest rock band Canada has ever produced.
my best song-all time.....GO TRUMP
+Bob Sparticus WHAT? Fuck him! I chose FREE WILL!
you sir are a piece of shit
Earl Butler chill
idk if the “go trump” was necessary but hey do your own thing and you guys need to not get so insulted jeez
Yuppem! and Trump LOVES rush! (He told me himself) Fer reals!
alex looks like a chubby trey parker
How dare you???
it must be an incrediable feeling to come out on stage and see all of those fans waiting for you.
I am thankful that niel came back to music.I think the music world is better because of it.
4:35 Good thing I'd already finished my supper. LOL! hahahhaah I mean really, if he's gonna sound like someone's grandma... just sing it an octave lower! arggggggggggggggggggggg
a comment from 12 years ago, are you still here ?
thank God for music, thank God for Rush!!
Alex Lifeson tears the world asunder during his solo! WOW
Rush are simply the best Rock outfit ever and this song one of their very best ! Go Geddddddddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!
Fave band of all time... for the last 25 years
This has to be one of the cleanest acts I've seen in a long time.
Omg i love alex's voice
At 1:50 Alex guitar boldly encompasses the entire scene...they are godly.
geddys voice is SPOT ON! and alex's beard looks cool!
That's the difference between a band from the seventies and a band that grew up in the eighties. No over-reliance on gadgets. Just a tight group and great chops. Those were the days when musicians who practiced were cool.
That was at the SARS benefit concert in Toronto a few years back. There was like half a million people there. I was there with 2 friends of mine. It was a blast. AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Rush, and many others performed. It kicked ass.
They should give Alex his own song on an album. It would be sweet probably.
You can actually hear Alex’s vocals. Wow.
Yep Brill Band!, I first saw these guys at the Bingley Hall in Staffordshire England, must have been about 26 yrs ago!! Glad they still going strong, about time they came to play in England.
No keyboards. No sequencers. No crap. Just three kings of ROCK doing the rocking. I could cry...
clearly he's playing a synthesizer
the rest of the people in the audience were outside the stadium, RUSH's soundwaves shattered time and space, people in Japan and Russia heard this!...
Rush for President. The entire band, the entire world.
Neil wrote the lyrics for Free Will. Martin Luther, St. Augustine, et al, understand that choosing to believe IS free will. They used their free will to choose to believe in God.
one of the few bands that truly sound as great live as in the studio
Awesome band! My husband and I saw them play last night in OKC. We saw them last about 20 years ago and they are still awesome!! They put on a good show! mmmmm chicken! :D
This is one of the greatest songs ever written -words and composition!!! Completely amazing -Rush!
they're coming to Argentna in october 15th, i still cannot believe it, it's a dream coming true
Most bands cannot sing in perfect harmony live. This one can!
I just hope they can remember both.. Because I know I'll remember this song when I'm in my 80s
The solo section of this song always leaves me in tears.
I was at this show. It was a pretty amazing day!
"The concert opened in the afternoon with the Have Love Will Travel Revue (Aykroyd and James Belushi), Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards, La Chicane, The Tea Party, The Flaming Lips who invited artists from backstage to dance on stage with them dressed in fuzzy animal costumes, Sass Jordan, The Isley Brothers, and Blue Rodeo. Each band performed for 15-20 minutes. The second part of the concert began later in the afternoon and lasted into the night and included Justin Timberlake, The Guess Who, Rush, AC/DC, and the Rolling Stones, who performed a 90-minute set to end the concert.
Justin Timberlake was booed by the crowd, which was anticipating the harder-rocking second half of the concert. Throughout his performance he had to dodge water bottles, toilet paper, muffins, and other items thrown by the audience.[4] He later returned to duet with Mick Jagger on "Miss You" and also for Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River". When some fans continued to throw bottles at Timberlake, the crowd was harangued by a visibly angry Keith Richards." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molson_Canadian_Rocks_for_Toronto
i saw rush last year...and they still sound great.
I want to back-hand this editor for missing more than 50% of Alex's solo because "Geddy Lee is GOAT on bass!"
Alex peaking in his cuteness. Bring back the beard, please! In the meantime, I'll be watching this over and over again and waiting for them to show up in Europe again.
Awesome!!!! It's funny to hear Alex singing on the chorus as loud as Geddy!
I agree. Unquestionable. Sick, and Neil looks effortless.
Honestly many of us love rush just as much in the USA
rush is in the studio getting ready for an upcomming album in the new year..check out rush replay or rush in rio..very good dvd's which show the true greatness of their live concert. they are rumored to tour next summer!!
Best drummer in the world right there! Rock On!!
Fantastic band and great guys ! !! !
video or not, i saw them my first time before a lot of you were even born. Geddy, Alex and Neil are my favorite band of all time and I'm a Texan.
they were having a bad day.
I love Rush, too. But I was glad to hear Alex sing a little backup like the old days. Geddy just doesn't have it in concert anymore.

"A Farewell to a King"👑
When 3 parts nonsense; turn into a great song ! Anthem for the World.
just can't help loving Geddy so much.
I love this, pure and simple. Seeing so many people rock out to RUSH is very gratifying as well.
Proud of our Hometown guys.
the fact they are still together and they sound amazing still :D I loveee Rush, don't you love how alex sings along with geddy ^_^!!
Truly one of the "class acts" of all time... Thanks for all the wonderful music.
I saw that in Philadelphia last night, loved it! Made me hungry though...
3 canadian genius. Omar from Lima, Peru!!!
I saw them twice on this tour. They rock! The indoor concerts had great visuals. I'll never forget them.
My FAVOURITE BAND EVER!
