I was a senior in college at SUNY Albany and WALKED in this snowstorm from our apartments to the Knick and back. Amazing show. Almost 30 years ago. Wow.
I Remember driving thru a bad snowstorm to get Albany to see this show and in return got to witness the killer YEM in second set. Wish I can go back in time to see it again. Miss these years of Phish
Shocked and persuaded my soul to adjust the tracking. My 1st show was 6 9 94 so I can totally understand. Thanks for uploading this so my future self can relive my younger self.
Ya, to each their own but for me pre '97 were prime Phish. They changed their sound after the Clifford Ball. Before '97 any of them could take the musical lead. From '97 on they took on the more traditional drum/bass rhythm section with guitar and keys playing melody on top. They were still great but it didn't feel like the high wire act it used to be. I miss Fish playing lead drums.
Agreed. They were on a mission to prove they were the best live band out there at this point. Not that they lost that but by ‘97 they clearly had taken/inherited that mantle and maybe were just a tad bit comfortable.
You can tell that they're really, really on here. I am not a big phish fan (listened to a lot of old soundboards) but that don't mean shiat Anyways, I remember years ago people always telling me to go after April '92, August '93, June '94, December '95, 96 not sure, then july for '97 and 98...so I listened. The biggest impression was left on me from April '92 (because I loved that raw driving energy) and Summer '97 because of those patiently ascending funked out jams. Sounded like 2 totally diff bands tbh
I loved these years. Had just seen my first show 7-16-95 at Walnut Creek with the killer 30+ minute Runaway Jim. Been following them and the bands they cover ever since. I do enjoy the Dayton OH show with Psycho Killer cover
What should have been an hour 45 minute drive from Hartford took over 5 hours. We probably should have crashed. Worth every second of the white knuckle driving.
TY Trey for listening to your fans I think I am the reason that Bliss was played for the first time ever in 2018 because I begged him to finally do it as it is done on the album played INTO Billy Breathes and he must have agreed that shit cannot be coincidence The one time I affected a setlist ever or since My signs have never worked for YEM or The Lizards so I gave up on them but that rant actually worked David Lettermans favorite Phish song is Chalkdust Torture and after the one at Mexico 2024 (the best Tequila run ever from 2017 to now) I have to say he may just be right I still think the bare bones that is Slave HH Reba Tweezer Guyute or The Lizards are hard to beat Rift will never grow on me it is never jammed and it is frenetic nonsense like Sparkle or David Bowie but without merit like the pop nonsense that is Heavy Things Bouncing and Evolve I skip over all these except great versions of David Bowie Bouncing Sadly is the best song of the 5 with Bowie a close second Free was NOT good in 1995 It did not do the Mike Poop fart base line thing but instead they just went into dissonance like SOAM but that song does it all the way like Bowie The Frees in 1995 are all skipped for this reason but it became one of the best songs in the Phish arsenal which is interesting because it is the same with Piper 2 years later I got the best Free and maybe best BOAF ever at Blossom both 8-2-2022 and 6-19-2019 (maybe 2-28-2003 was tighter and more sharp on opiates) respectfully The eagle landed in Cuyahoga Falls OH it did not actually land in Nassau NY Billy Breathes was best in 1995 as FEFU was best in 1992 Page did different subtle notes at the beginning of both songs in each in those respective years and the guitar solos were best in those years but 7-30-2003 sounded amazing for FEFU and indeed so many rare breakouts I must say I was so lucky to get to go see Phish in Camden 3 x 7-30-2003 8-12-2004 (what I thought would be their last 2 set show EVER) and 6-7-2009 all need to be listened to for any real Phish fan because of even crap debuts like Joy and Sugar Shack not good songs but great lyrically and the other the only time they played Carbohydrate Hershey Park like Candy to perfection Joy and BDTNL matter to Trey so they need to matter to us if at least for their lyrical significance however it is pagan to worship a persons BIRTH date what we should worship is our death day when we are finally POOP MAGIC FREE
Some may call this a bold statement, however I feel like Phish peaked in 95. Any band can jam on a funk theme for 35 mins. 97 was fun, but nothing groundbreaking or innovative. My first show was 93 and my last was 2019 so I have done some 'research'.
That very well may be true... I, personally, agree (first show 89, last 2018), but that doesn't mean that they still aren't the best live band to see in America.
Yea, early-mid 90s was just incredible!!! saw em again back in 04, was a few good jams and saw them the last time back in 16. The MAZE was fire at last show I went to! Brings out the best in them i think!
I'm with you. A lot of the band's "scholars" say December '95 was the single best month of their career. A fun listen is the Helping Friendly Podcast that talks about the December '95 shows.
I love Trey's terrible nerd haircut and those awful fashion statement tank tops but no muscles or steroids ONLY in 1995 the year he was born (The Summer of 89 and its illusions as well as Treys own verbatim) he was born with a terrible haircut he looks better as a hippy I wanna see how he looked bald and in the military in jail in 2006 but even coming off opiates did not make him go Britney Spears insane thankfully I am not a groupie so i dont care how you look I only care how you sound and you were on FIRE in 1995 The days of learning and getting better equipment were over and they were ready for the explosion that was their first epic show 12-31-1995 MSG their first residence They had arrived at JAZZ epic excellence and were ready for Carnigie Hall w songs like The Lizards Divided Sky Esther Reba HH YEM Slave Tweezer and Slave they just did not know it yet No Guyute or Free quite yet but they were almost Pig Liberty Thank you for RELENTLESSLY giving us new music It is what made 2004 bad and you guys great off addictive drugs Stick to shrooms and acid and green tea and less tequila beer and hard stuff Trey keep your hair long and your shirts at least at the elbow not to hide track marks but to be decent and modest and Project Runway worthy 1995 was the year of Johnny B Goode and Dont You Wanna Go 2 of the best songs ever written ironically NOT by Phish themselves 1995 is when I should have started listening but I was born in 1982 so I was only 13 and in HS technically because at Harford Christian School in Dublin MD to be in HS is to actually be in Middle School for the rest of kids...but I learned about God and you learned about lies and the song Evolve is not only a terrible pop song but full of Bug Friends Lifeboy LIES from Satan that he wants us to believe but I refuse Darwin saw birds turn into birds with longer beaks and created a religion based on faith too but in false science about millions and indeed even billions of years and if you give any lie enough time i guess anything is possible But I regress....ty for posting this before I knew of the best band on planet earth is what i should be saying One of only a hand full of shows 4.5 and over like my best attended show 10-29-2013 in Reading PA for the first time and only time ever so far This show was even better than the epic that was Cars and Trucks and Buses and Walk Away DWD 20 years later epic what happened to Trey or what show happened in 10-29-1993 I need to listen to that show to fully appreciate it but did they even play a show in 10-29-2013?
The Rolling Stones are the oldest touring artists but that does not make them the greatest of all time That would be Led Zeppelin and Marvin Gaye Bob Marley The Who Caedmons Call Chuck Berry (this is your cousin Marvin you remember that Back to the Future sound you were looking for???? well listen to this!) Jimmy Hendrix and Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel and The Beatles (not Elvis or Taylor Swift) Loving Cup is a song for drunks but the song for all of us after we got sober or like my mother never had a sip of even healthy red wine given to her by Jesus in the Wedding at Cana as his first miracle because his mother told him guess what your time has come and it is time to show us miracles signs wonders and parables so get your time straight you God who lives outside of time was told by your earthly mother to get on w that shit already and turn that fucking water into wine already but my earthly mother said hell no I want to live sober and upright and will not even take Aleve or Motrin bs when she had kidney stones and was in the worst pain of her life (while I was going through the worst in mine Suboxone and Methadone at different times in my life and then later Fentanyl withdraw) Give me Emotional Rescue falsetto silliness and Shine a Light seriousness and the best and only great song by the Rolling Stones Jumpin Jack Flash insanity Give me fever acid dreams like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ending credits ....THOSE are great songs Satisfaction (I cant get no) is SHIT crap garbage I would love to say I hate any show that ends or starts with loving cup but I love this show and they even OPENED a show more recently where the only jam worthy song was Loving Cup and they finally jammed out a terrible song SO you just never know with Phish They are spontaneous unpredictably and 2024 is gonna be a great year I predict it preDICTably because they are playing a festival and Mexico was the greatest Mexico run ever and 2 of the shows were 4.5 worthy nights 2 and 3 so you just never know with Phish until Trey is dead and hopefully goes to heaven with me and his family

How did people sneak cameras to take audience shots like this back then? The real MVP's, thanks to them, and poster!
It was and still is encouraged by the band
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
I could have got a keg in.
The real mvp is them and poster nutbag, I think is what you meant to say.

I hear ya cluckin' there big chikun.
Right there with ya, Brother...We're gettin old.
i miss when it used to snow like that in the north country, the good ol days
@@marcoesquandolas1533 yep. pretty soon we'll all be dead.
So you missed the first set?
Shocked and persuaded my soul to adjust the tracking. My 1st show was 6 9 94 so I can totally understand. Thanks for uploading this so my future self can relive my younger self.
I was at that show too. 2 or 3 feet of snow outside. Intense show, 95 phish was great. Trey at the very top of his game.
Trey was a man on fire in the early mid 90s!! UNREAL
I know all the 1997 phish people disagree... but this was the peak of phish.... I was up front for this performance and it was mind altering
Ya, to each their own but for me pre '97 were prime Phish. They changed their sound after the Clifford Ball. Before '97 any of them could take the musical lead. On the floor for this one. A face melter.
@@uberhandle42 The Arena Sound.
The peak years.
Saw many shows in the fall of 95.
This stands out like so many.
13 min maze to start..... um yes please 🤙
What an opener! Missing live music so much.
I was at this one, sitting Page side, right by where this was filmed from. Fun show. The snow was legit!
It was snowing a lot that night. My first show
Maze, Theme, and Free are my three favorite songs for them to jam in '95 shows. And probably the peak of Phish for me
I remember fighting through the snow for this show. I don't remember details but my memory of it was that it was a great show.
Thank you for this! Managed to make it to this one...man that YEM......brings back some great memories! Even the ones that melted
I loved these years. Had just seen my first show 7-16-95 at Walnut Creek with the killer 30+ minute Runaway Jim. Been following them and the bands they cover ever since. I do enjoy the Dayton OH show with Psycho Killer cover
I sat in the uppers behind the stage. Maybe 50 people in the whole section. Probably because of the blizzard. Great night.
awesome show.. thanks for sharing..
70’s after school special funk YEM
What should have been an hour 45 minute drive from Hartford took over 5 hours. We probably should have crashed. Worth every second of the white knuckle driving.
amazing footage. thank you soo much buddy
fav yem ever
They're bringing it big-time for all the diehards in the snow. This Theme is complete 🍌
The YEM... My Lord.
TY Trey for listening to your fans I think I am the reason that Bliss was played for the first time ever in 2018 because I begged him to finally do it as it is done on the album played INTO Billy Breathes and he must have agreed that shit cannot be coincidence The one time I affected a setlist ever or since My signs have never worked for YEM or The Lizards so I gave up on them but that rant actually worked
David Lettermans favorite Phish song is Chalkdust Torture and after the one at Mexico 2024 (the best Tequila run ever from 2017 to now) I have to say he may just be right I still think the bare bones that is Slave HH Reba Tweezer Guyute or The Lizards are hard to beat
Rift will never grow on me it is never jammed and it is frenetic nonsense like Sparkle or David Bowie but without merit like the pop nonsense that is Heavy Things Bouncing and Evolve I skip over all these except great versions of David Bowie Bouncing Sadly is the best song of the 5 with Bowie a close second
Free was NOT good in 1995 It did not do the Mike Poop fart base line thing but instead they just went into dissonance like SOAM but that song does it all the way like Bowie The Frees in 1995 are all skipped for this reason but it became one of the best songs in the Phish arsenal which is interesting because it is the same with Piper 2 years later
I got the best Free and maybe best BOAF ever at Blossom both 8-2-2022 and 6-19-2019 (maybe 2-28-2003 was tighter and more sharp on opiates) respectfully The eagle landed in Cuyahoga Falls OH it did not actually land in Nassau NY
Billy Breathes was best in 1995 as FEFU was best in 1992 Page did different subtle notes at the beginning of both songs in each in those respective years and the guitar solos were best in those years but 7-30-2003 sounded amazing for FEFU and indeed so many rare breakouts I must say I was so lucky to get to go see Phish in Camden 3 x 7-30-2003 8-12-2004 (what I thought would be their last 2 set show EVER) and 6-7-2009 all need to be listened to for any real Phish fan because of even crap debuts like Joy and Sugar Shack not good songs but great lyrically and the other the only time they played Carbohydrate Hershey Park like Candy to perfection Joy and BDTNL matter to Trey so they need to matter to us if at least for their lyrical significance however it is pagan to worship a persons BIRTH date what we should worship is our death day when we are finally POOP MAGIC FREE

a part of me agreees. The part that saw their first show in 95. Something about the sound from then. That tone on his guitar is unreal.
95 is magical but fall 97 is called phish destroys america for a reason. killer fuckin shows
I was born this day!
I hope you enjoy how great this was, like yourself.
SET 2:1:07:05
I love Trey's terrible nerd haircut and those awful fashion statement tank tops but no muscles or steroids ONLY in 1995 the year he was born (The Summer of 89 and its illusions as well as Treys own verbatim) he was born with a terrible haircut he looks better as a hippy I wanna see how he looked bald and in the military in jail in 2006 but even coming off opiates did not make him go Britney Spears insane thankfully
I am not a groupie so i dont care how you look I only care how you sound and you were on FIRE in 1995 The days of learning and getting better equipment were over and they were ready for the explosion that was their first epic show 12-31-1995 MSG their first residence They had arrived at JAZZ epic excellence and were ready for Carnigie Hall w songs like The Lizards Divided Sky Esther Reba HH YEM Slave Tweezer and Slave they just did not know it yet No Guyute or Free quite yet but they were almost Pig Liberty
Thank you for RELENTLESSLY giving us new music It is what made 2004 bad and you guys great off addictive drugs Stick to shrooms and acid and green tea and less tequila beer and hard stuff
Trey keep your hair long and your shirts at least at the elbow not to hide track marks but to be decent and modest and Project Runway worthy
1995 was the year of Johnny B Goode and Dont You Wanna Go 2 of the best songs ever written ironically NOT by Phish themselves
1995 is when I should have started listening but I was born in 1982 so I was only 13 and in HS technically because at Harford Christian School in Dublin MD to be in HS is to actually be in Middle School for the rest of kids...but I learned about God and you learned about lies and the song Evolve is not only a terrible pop song but full of Bug Friends Lifeboy LIES from Satan that he wants us to believe but I refuse Darwin saw birds turn into birds with longer beaks and created a religion based on faith too but in false science about millions and indeed even billions of years and if you give any lie enough time i guess anything is possible
But I regress....ty for posting this before I knew of the best band on planet earth is what i should be saying
One of only a hand full of shows 4.5 and over like my best attended show 10-29-2013 in Reading PA for the first time and only time ever so far This show was even better than the epic that was Cars and Trucks and Buses and Walk Away DWD 20 years later epic what happened to Trey or what show happened in 10-29-1993 I need to listen to that show to fully appreciate it but did they even play a show in 10-29-2013?
Who had the Beavis and Butthead toy at the start of Wilson?

Trey
I had the same toy. That little blue box with the one-button provided hours of endless joy and entertainment.
It was Trey. His daughter gave it to him. I was threre.

Loving Cup is a song for drunks but the song for all of us after we got sober or like my mother never had a sip of even healthy red wine given to her by Jesus in the Wedding at Cana as his first miracle because his mother told him guess what your time has come and it is time to show us miracles signs wonders and parables so get your time straight you God who lives outside of time was told by your earthly mother to get on w that shit already and turn that fucking water into wine already but my earthly mother said hell no I want to live sober and upright and will not even take Aleve or Motrin bs when she had kidney stones and was in the worst pain of her life (while I was going through the worst in mine Suboxone and Methadone at different times in my life and then later Fentanyl withdraw) Give me Emotional Rescue falsetto silliness and Shine a Light seriousness and the best and only great song by the Rolling Stones Jumpin Jack Flash insanity Give me fever acid dreams like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ending credits ....THOSE are great songs Satisfaction (I cant get no) is SHIT crap garbage
I would love to say I hate any show that ends or starts with loving cup but I love this show and they even OPENED a show more recently where the only jam worthy song was Loving Cup and they finally jammed out a terrible song SO you just never know with Phish They are spontaneous unpredictably and 2024 is gonna be a great year I predict it preDICTably because they are playing a festival and Mexico was the greatest Mexico run ever and 2 of the shows were 4.5 worthy nights 2 and 3 so you just never know with Phish until Trey is dead and hopefully goes to heaven with me and his family
I think this is actually two different shows. Set 1 is really Set 2 from Albany 97. Set 2 is Albany 95. These were great times!!!
Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong.
