    We love the sensors aside from advising temp also let you know if the room is occupied or not . We now use this as a security feature when on vaca, if it picks up movement we’re alerted. Second during the day we now know which room the dog is in.

    Thanks for the video, the most helpful part was vitrifaction that this stat would allow the user to adjust the heat differential or swing setting. May thermostats on the market do not allow for this adjustment causing your equipment to constantly cycle to maintain .25 to .50 degree variation. I'm like mine set at 1.5 degrees. This setting will make your HVAC equipment last MUCH longer! NOTE: HP will not let you change this setting.

    Thanks for the Stellar review. Installing ours here tomorrow afternoon. We are in Florida so the need for heating may arise for a total of 1 or 2 weeks out of a year, however I've noticed out existing thermostat (basic digital no programming) running on a Trane XR unit aprox 5 years old ,would show AUX when the heat first kicked on, this typically meant the heat strips would kick in to assist the heat pump in reaching a 2 degree threshold of the desired temp then the AUX would shutoff unless the heat pump were to struggle to maintain the set temp,in that case the aux (heat strips) would kick back in if the home dropped to 2 degrees below set temp. Just wondering if this will operate in the same fashion with the ecobee3lite.

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  3 года назад +1

      I believe you will see similar functionality to your previous thermostat, however I'm not sure, as I have a gas furnace... although it is a 2-stage, it shows up to the thermostat as a single stage, so I don't really know how the ecoBee will act with aux heat (heat pump) or traditional 2-stage furnace. Please post back as I'm interest to know for sure.

    One of the settings was a Disable/Enable one that said if running both boiler and heat pump at the same time it can damage the heat pump. It was set to enable and the heat pump hasn't been pushing warm air for awhile now. I switched it to disable and told the contractor. He wasn't aware of this at all. How could the heat pump be damaged if both were enabled? I have the Ecobee Lite3.

    Hi. My question which I have not seen asked is can you see the history of how much your furnace has run with the app or from the thermostat itself? You mentioned in the video you could see it from a web interface I think? With nest you can see it from the app and I like that feature but would like to try ecobee for the first time to compare and don’t want to miss out on this feature.

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  3 года назад

      Hello, you can't see runtime or history from the app or thermostat. It is available on the web interface (see my video walk-through at ruclips.net/video/dGt-3tpN5NI/видео.html ). I thought there was a way to have ecoBee send monthly reports, but I can't see that option anywhere.

      @rubbercheesereviews  3 года назад

      You're welcome, glad it was useful to you! According to ecoBee website, settings will not be lost regardless of power outage length. Mine has never been disconnected from power for more than 8 hours and it remembered all settings.

    In an event of loss of power or loss of the internet, would you be notified? Also, upon regaining power and the internet would you have to reset your programmed schedule? This was a great video also!

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  4 года назад +5

      I have notifications disabled, but there is an option for "Service Notifications" on the phone app which possibly would let you know when there is a connection error. The thermostat 'remembers' schedules so disconnections (power or internet/network) are seamless - you do not have to re-program.

  • @chispas109
    @chispas109 2 года назад +1

    I installed one of this last week. I do notice after setting the heating differential to 3 degrees it doesn’t immediately turn off furnace after desired set temperature is reached. It stays calling for heat for about an additional 5 or 7 afterwards. My previous thermostat would turn off furnace the second it reaches the set temperature.

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  2 года назад

      Are you sure it is heating for that additional 5-7minutes, rather than just running the blower? There are settings which let you chose how long to run the blower after the heat turns off. Also, if you have adaptive heating/cooling enabled (i.e. where the thermostat will attempt to achieve the temperatures by the scheduled time, rather than changing the setpoint at that time), that might cause it to run longer... I don't use that feature so can't say for sure.

    • @chispas109
      @chispas109 2 года назад

      @@rubbercheesereviews Thanks for replying. I don’t have a blower. My furnace is just heated water that runs through copper pipes all over the house. I would have to check the adaptive part you mentioned.

    Damn I am so on the fence between this and the Honeywell RTH9585WF. I like that this has such a clean interface, but I like that the Honeywell display more at one time...hmm... Zero need for any sensors or anything like that. Just want a updated thermostat that we can program and it doesn't have to go through a "learning" phase. Both of these do that.

    Is the schedule just one week? Or can you set it up for two weeks? Example: on week one I may want Monday set to home and on week 2 Monday set to away. Or is the geofence feature the way to handle irregular schedules?

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  4 года назад

      There is only the ability to schedule a single week. Geofencing would probably be the best way for irregular schedules. Alternatively, you could use the standard schedule but manually override it from your phone every other week (not ideal I know, but there are some downfalls with geofencing as well).

      I have a Goodman GMVC 96% efficiency furnace. Beginning in 2018, they went to an "off-the-wall" computerized controller that determines which furnace stage to run. Overall, we've been really happy with it. Also cool is that you can connect to it with Bluetooth to adjust some settings (it's convenient to be able to fine tune the 'circulate' flowrate)

    Hi Thank you for the great video. I too live in Canada (Hamilton Ont). My question is this, can you turn off the ecobee from heating and cooling. In the spring or the fall we get some wonderful perfect temperatures where I like to open the windows and doors to allow fresh air through the house. When I do I would like to turn the HVAC system off. I do not see how to do that. Thanks again.

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  3 года назад

      This is an option - just tap the heating/cooling icon (appears as a flame for heating, or a snowflake for cooling) - you can select heating, cooling, auto, or off. Instead of shutting it off, I normally adjust the temperature to an extreme and hit hold (i.e. in the summer, I adjust thermostat to 90°F so I know that the A/C won't actually kick on).

    You do not want to adjust vents. When you make the duct system more restrictive the more vents you close or restrict the higher the pressure in the duct system goes. blower will use more and more energy as you do so. The system will but move as much conditioned air.
    Bad tip.

    • @rubbercheesereviews
      @rubbercheesereviews  4 года назад

      If you leave the blower at the same speed, than yes - closing vents will cause the blower to use more power. To me, that would be acceptable in return for better comfort, but I've also reduced my blower speed to compensate, so I really don't see any issue.

      True. No one needs a car that costs more than $15k either, but that doesn't stop people. Smart thermostats definitely have a place, but you're right - they aren't for everyone.

      @@bobtakealook6420 I'm not trying to sell thermostats... if you don't see value for you, then keep using a traditional thermostat. Personally, I like the ability to adjust settings from outside of the house (i.e. no problem if you forget to shut off the AC if you go away for a week in the summer; can do it in the car), and the ease to adjust the setpoint or fan from anywhere in the house. It's also much easier to tweak schedules compared to traditional thermostats (which I used to set once, then never adjust ever again).
