As this was a calm talking video I got a chance to check out your surroundings for once. Boy do you have a lot of spare wheels! (And bikes) Your workshop looks busy and full of personal possessions and memorabilia. Such a cool place to hang out. I love your values of supporting the little guy local businesses. Merry Christmas to you and Edmund.
I still have faith in America watching your videos. Waiting for spring with my old Cube bike, sitting on Schwalbe tires and loaded with Ortlieb panniers when needed.
Thanks for the tip on the tool. I have a set of Kahvas and they're great for nearly everything in the winter. I've only had them a couple years, so no stud loss/degradation yet, but I'm sure I'll need it sooner or later.
very informative video Tim....that tool looks like a necessary evil if you're replacing the studs....It reminds of a tool i bought at V & V Appliance. It was a set of spring loaded clamp pliers (with 3 replacement tips) which the serviceman told me was the only tool which could assist me in replacing the blower fan on my dryer. mind you, i've used it 3 times in the 27 years i've had the dryer. the only job i use the tool for;, but for the price it was worth it. anyhow, thanks for providing the tips on the "how to do it" video.....Merry Christmas, all the best, and throw some bows at Edmund to play with
I've got an old 26" Trek MTB that I put corner bars on. I may get a set of studded tires for it. It just doesn't snow in north central WV like it did when I was a kid in the 70s. Have a great holiday.
I've been able to extract worn studs using the wrench by wiggling the studs around and finally tipping it over to about 90° with downward pressure to keep the stuff in the tool. Eventually they've come out. I wonder if maybe warming the tire up with a hair dryer might help? Anyway it's not as easy as putting them in but I've yet to be defeated, lol. Good luck!
Good stuff Tim, have never seen snow tyres or how they work maybe because we don’t have snow… 😅. Have an awesome Christmas to all the crew and stay safe . Red West Oz 🇦🇺 🍻🎄
Hey Tim. Absolutely love your videos. I'm in the process of getting my winter bike ready for hopefully next weekend if the weather gets better. Quick question: haven't ridden on the Towpath starting in Peninsula in years - do you think 38mm tires would be OK or switch to 45mm? I've been thinking of going bigger... Thoughts? Bob
My only tip is cleaning out the stud holes in the tire before pressing in a freshy. I've encountered plenty of sand/grit on my fat bike tires and flushing the holes with some H2O and/or using a pick really does help with the stud mounting as flush as possible. Great vid as always!
What was the name of the band your upstairs tenant is in? I like to look up groups mentioned in videos on my Spotify. It’s been one of the best ways to expose myself to music I might not normally listen to.
I put my road bike on the trainer for the season, and I use my hardtail for commuting. If I'm lucky, Santa's bringing me a suspension corrected rigid fork.
Tim, Christmas greetings from Augusta, Georgia. My wife and I have been fans for several years. We are considering bike touring the OTET in 2025. I would be interested in your opinion: spring or fall the best time of year to ride.

Always enjoy your content Tim. Wishing you a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!!!
If you come out to LA this winter, you should come up to Santa Barbara. Lots of great gravel and some nice climbs too!
Nice chilling with you for a few minutes Tim. I only got my first studded tire 2-3 years ago, so I haven't had to replace studs yet.
YES A NEW FITZ VIDEO🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Tim and the Dark one , it's good to see em playful , tail straight up ! Happy cats

Just in time. I love my 45NRTH Gravdals and want to keep them prime. The tool has to be a hand saver.

Interestingly wondered about stud replacing! Thanks!
Good luck on your festive 500 attempt!
