Hi Carl absolutely love all your videos. I haven't fished for 6 years but have recently got my licence again and back at it because of your videos. Your videos have given me alot of inspiration and joy.
There is something wrong with your channel, Carl. Out of all the channels I subscribe too, yours is the only one that consistently interest me. All of the others I have slowly lost interest, but not yours. I think it’s because of the consistent quality in your videos, bringing them on par with most TV fishing shows.
The level and quality of your videos after a few years of not watching (went of RUclips and fishing) it’s brilliant to see how much your channel has grown and the content you’re putting out! Finally getting into course fishing after years of being interested but after starting to watch you again! I’ve never been so excited been out once caught 4 trout and couldn’t of been happier ! Can’t wait to try get some carp and other species !
First time watching. It's great how young men are getting into fishing. And also connecting with each other. Chatting and banter, good for the mental wellbeing. 👍👍
Ex Saffa here, Lived in England for only a few years now….tried fishing in a few spots at campsites etc, have never had so many people check or try and stop the fishing … maybe it’s just me growing up in rural Africa and just having total freedom as a kid when fishing, but I just wish fresh water fishing here was more free and less of a closed club, and then more kids would be fishing instead of been on the streets
It's crazy how good the fishing here is. I worked security at the train station a few years back & would go talk to the anglers during breaks. They'd tell me about the huge fish they caught & until I saw it myself I didn't believe them lol. I've witnessed 12lb barbel, 10lb Brown trout & 5lb chub caught, was told there's big carp too but not seen them. As to why the barbel are there, apparently, a few years ago the River Aire was stocked with young barbel, & what happened is a lot got stuck in this section cos there's a big weir downstream, the station rapids upstream, plus a good supply of food from various factors. It's perfect for them. Oh, & the Leeds -Liverpool canal joins the River here too, in the last bit of the canal before the lock there are 5lb perch, seen them caught also. Good perch fishing where Hol Beck joins the River near the canal also. It's amazing, you have to see it to believe it 😂
Hi Carl 🤙 the stretch you were fishing does usually do well for nice barbel during the day, pellet and meat on the method, I have seen huge catches in the day, and while it's been sunny! But wanted to say you should try the stretch at Thwaite Mills in Hunslet, the river splits off and the weir at the watermill fishes awesome, I go for the big pike at the armouries stretch, and also the stretch at the train station for huge chub! Would love to see you catch a 30ob river pike, I do believe these big rivers hold monsters. Tight lines bro 🤙
Carl first of all welcome to the Lake District hope you liked it, I live on the coast . Love the video lots of different things happening . Congrats on finally getting the Barbel in the end.
Only found your channel in the last few month, since you visited the river aire in leeds. I've loved watching the mega trips abroad plus the trips to huge res's and your infection for catching and videography and photography are amazing. Wishing you all the best in the world. I must say I would have named and shamed the hater from the deep res but more power to you for what you've achieved. All the best

I would never of guessed that stamp of Barbel would be in a Leeds city Centre river. This is what i love about RUclips etc when people can meet up and share information through the powers of social media. Oh and what about that Lake District Misty scenary... nice one to everyone involved yhe filmography was another level 👍👍
There's a nice bit of flatter, lower bank fishing below "Clarence Dock" on the Right bank looking downstream & below the Royal Armouries. A 2.5 to 3 Metre landing net does just fine. Not so many Barbel in this section, but some big Chub & other silvers & nice easy fishing.
Used to love fishing when i was a kid, got into other sports when u grew up, havnt done any recently came across the channel and continue to watch, even tho i have no time for fishing but my son wants to go. love the work keep at it
i was part of the stocking over ten years ago , enviroment agency stocked them at kildwick bridge and myrtle park over a few years , when we stocked them they were around 6 ito 8 inch, was in flood everytime we introduced the fish. think we introduced over 5000 fish over few years
Lots of change in that area over the last 30yrs. It’s certainly not a spot I would have ventured to when I was at Uni there all those years ago….My destination was the very rural Wharfe. Always great to see urban dangling 👌🎣❤️

Leeds city centre, fair play. Nice to see local lads on it and you fishing with them too. That first spot looked well dodgy at night mind you. What a scenery change though, to the green fields and snowy peaks with misty lakes 👌. I’m not sure why but I expected the Leeds river fish to be damaged or manky in some way but they all looked fin perfect. Another lovely watch 👍
Nice one, Carl. I always like it when you go on your little adventures it's always very interesting to see what you are going to catch, and once again, you had all different fish again, and I was so happy to see you catching the city centre barbel at the end 😁🎣🎣🎣👍
Good tip to keep spam on the hair. Cut it into slices first and fry both sides, then when you cut it into strips, then cubes, you always have a tough skin on 2 sides of it.
Reminds me of when I used to fish the Thames in Central London, back in the 1970-80! Caught lots of different species apart from Barbel! Keep meaning to try my old spots again one day.
Brilliant video fella. Great to see you up north too. 😊😊 You have a fantastic team around you which is evident with the equally fantastic content you consistently produce. Keep it up 👍
Thanks for the Video. Barbel was stocked in Bingley about 15 miles upstream. Double figures around that area now. I used to live in Bingley just a few minutes walk from the river. Ironically I travelled to Bridgnorth on the Severn to catch barbel. City centre in Leeds always offered a bit of free fishing not sure if it is still the case but it was good for roach but never knew about the barbel or fished the centre myself.
Nice watch and I've caught chub barbel decent roach and dace on those meat balls the hot and spicey ones and Tikka ones are the best so grab a few next time you visit the hdaa stretch Carl

Throw it where you're aiming to cast while you're rigging up and you'll land monsters.

Try Sausages, or Sausage Meat bound on with sheering elastic, Plovers eggs with a baiting needle on a hair rig softly cast, or pieces of the outer of a scotch egg.
