Mike, you're still not ready. Jess is ready. The reason she doesn't only use her "light" voice all the time is because every other female singer on the planet sounds the same. It is very nice to her "unique" voice. Diana is polyphonic ... the sounds you hear behind her voice are hers. Most voice teachers, except a few, are at a loss to explain her voice. Probably my favorite of hers, although that's not to say it's the best, as almost everything she does is world class. The funny thing is I didn't believe in sirens... now I know they're real. That my friends is a voice that can sink ships. The dual tones you hear is because she is polyphonic, ie, she can sing two tones at same time because, you know, witchcraft. Seriously though, there is some speculation that her biological father might be mongolian genetics, which kinda explains her looks a bit and could also be the right genetics for a polyphonic voice, as they have a long tradition of throat singing, which is making two sounds at same time. She is incredibly gifted, on top of that voice she also has pefect pitch hearing, which is a big reason in why her singing is so technically perfect. She is amazing, absolutely totally amazing. And that depth of emotion... orphan, abused, abandoned, mute for a while... and also has vitiligo, which could have given her self image issues, yet she soars above all that and becomes basically an angel... jesus... I don't know how I can be so much in awe of someone so young... Great, funny, honest reaction, many thanks.

Great reaction! She was 15 when she sang Wicked Game. This was on the singing competition You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged and orphaned children. If you like her stage presence and that tribal sound you should definitely listen to Rechenka (The River) next which she sang at 14. Hi there is an explanation of Diana’s voice she is a very very rare which is the deepest darkest female singing type but Diana is different from anybody else has to believe this thing with polyphonic overtone which means multiple notes at the same time. She is a once in a lifetime singer who is incredibly talented and more importantly a incredible human being. She was only 15 at the time of this performance
The fact she goes from dramatic contralto to the highest notes of a mezzo soprano and she's still so young and evolvingher skills makes me wonder were she'll go from here.
Great reaction! This was the first song I heard from Diana over a year ago. I was hooked after getting up off the floor. Since then, I'm still amazed at her vocals. All her videos from competitions show her range plus polyphonic abilities. She recently (at age of 18) released her first self-composed song.
I know I'm repeating myself but she is a super rare Dramatic Contralto who has a natural born polyphonic overtone (reverb) to her voice. AND she is a really great yodeler! Someone else said it...now go watch Rechenka when she was 14! You will be blown away again!!

Jess, particular thanks to your pre-verbal articulate cries, both here, and on your reaction to Mama, I'm Dancing. I appreciate each of your exclamatory and expressive instances where you break out with an Oeoh! or an Aah! especially the ones you do inline with a rising inflection to end like a cry. I like those - though not to erase the value of your softer exclaims, whether just Oh! or an Ah! as true reactions to Diana. Her voice, her timbre, her broadcast vibrations in parallel frequencies mean that pre-verbals are almost the best and most articulate responses to Diana's unique and transcendent artistry.

Diana has a Unique and impressive voice. I do not care for some of the electronic effects added on this song (by the Producers?.. probably without her knowledge?). Her voice is so good it doesn't need any help from studio technicians! Certainly Angelina Jordan's version benefits greatly from the Lack of such electronic gimmickry! Her version is So Much more "Soulful" in its simplicity!

Great reaction! She was 15 when she sang Wicked Game. This was on the singing competition You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged and orphaned children. If you like her stage presence and that tribal sound you should definitely listen to Rechenka (The River) next which she sang at 14.
It is based on Russian folktales about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother at age 3. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

I just love Diana! If any young person had an excuse to be a terrible person, it's Diana. Yet through the love and support of her adoptive family she has chosen not to be bitter. Hi there is an explanation of Diana’s voice she is a very very rare which is the deepest darkest female singing type but Diana is different from anybody else has to believe this thing with polyphonic overtone which means multiple notes at the same time. She is a once in a lifetime singer who is incredibly talented and more importantly a incredible human being. She was only 15 at the time of this performance
The fact she goes from dramatic contralto to the highest notes of a mezzo soprano and she's still so young and evolvingher skills makes me wonder were she'll go from here.
Great reaction! This was the first song I heard from Diana over a year ago. I was hooked after getting up off the floor. Since then, I'm still amazed at her vocals. All her videos from competitions show her range plus polyphonic abilities. She recently (at age of 18) released her first self-composed song.

I know I'm repeating myself but she is a super rare Dramatic Contralto who has a natural born polyphonic overtone (reverb) to her voice. AND she is a really great yodeler! Someone else said it...now go watch Rechenka when she was 14! You will be blown away again!!

She DOES go hi and low at the same time. She can do what's known as polyphonic singing, where she is singing with more than one "voice" at the same time, combining them together to create such haunting and varied tones and pitch. Pretty awesome.
You should check out Diana's earliest known video when she sang a song called "yodel Time", when she was 9 or 10 years old.

после пятого раза - наконец то понял - этот полифоник звук, тоесть одновременно ноты в разных октавах.
Её голос это самый удивительный и прекрасный инструмент воспроизводящий резонирующие тональности, которому только одно название - Ангелетано (флейта и пиано одновременно в маленьком Ангелочке)
У меня нет абсолютного слуха, но в этой песне я отчетливо слышу одновременно и низкие ноты и высокие. И это так удивительно и непостижимо для моего сознания.
And yes she has very easy access to overtones… In her Can’t Help Falling in Love performance, there were a couple times where she was doing 2 clear notes an octave apart. Very cool!.
I think she is Polyphonic -- able to sing 2 different at the same time and she can also yodel and sometime use yodeling within a balad. Amazing.

Diana is amazing. What a voice and stage Prescence. This very well produced video is so fun to watch. As a counter reaction to this performance, I would suggest you watch the same song as arraigned played and sung by a 12-year-old Angelina Jordan. There are a couple of videos but please watch the "fan made' one. The other one has the same soundtrack but just has pictures of her taken by her grandmother.

It should be said that Diana wasn't just your "Bog Standard" child prodigy. From a young age she tackled some very difficult songs and subject matter and continues so to do. It possibly comes from her early experiences, but, whilst other 10 year olds would be warbling about the "Good Ship Lollipop", (or more adult songs they don't comprehend), Diana sang "It Can't Happen", about the Beslan tragedy. Jess, particular thanks to your pre-verbal articulate cries, both here, and on your reaction to Mama, I'm Dancing. I appreciate each of your exclamatory and expressive instances where you break out with an Oeoh! or an Aah! especially the ones you do inline with a rising inflection to end like a cry. I like those - though not to erase the value of your softer exclaims, whether just Oh! or an Ah! as true reactions to Diana. Her voice, her timbre, her broadcast vibrations in parallel frequencies mean that pre-verbals are almost the best and most articulate responses to Diana's unique and transcendent artistry.

Diana has a Unique and impressive voice. I do not care for some of the electronic effects added on this song (by the Producers?.. probably without her knowledge?). Her voice is so good it doesn't need any help from studio technicians! Certainly Angelina Jordan's version benefits greatly from the Lack of such electronic gimmickry! Her version is So Much more "Soulful" in its simplicity!
Best singer ever to date. Maybe in the future there will be better but as of today she easily holds the title for me.
