I am an old nurse recently retired. I spent most of my 31 years training new nurses on my unit and one thing is for certain--- nursing schools give you theoretical knowledge and teach you how to take and pass exams, new grad orientation teaches you how to be a nurse! My advice, be patient with your self the first year will be intense and overwhelming!! Watch and learn from all the nurses not just your preceptor. One thing what is difficult for some new nurses is asking questions and one of the first things I would say to a new nurse was feel free to ask me anything even if you think it is silly, honestl, some of the questions the new grads thought were silly really had me think!!😅 I loved teaching new nurses, in part, because of this!!! Remember, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask, I would always much rather spend time addressing that question then possibly dealing with a bad outcome because of being afraid to ask and if you ever have a preceptor that does not have this attitude you need to request a different preceptor!!! Good luck to all the new nurses, hope you all have a long and fulfilling career!

@@Honey-ec6lr oh no, nurses should never eat the young, we'll need you guys in a few years when we're old, obstinate and full of stories about "what nursing used to be like" 😂😂. Always keep your sense of humor, life is funny.....Today's stressful moment will be tomorrow's laugh, never forget that.

We are writing to bring to light a tragic incident at DHQ Hospital Khanewal, where a dedicated staff member, Iqra, has been unjustly accused and imprisoned following the unfortunate deaths of three children.
Iqra, working alone in her shift, was responsible for the care of 100 children. During the administration of the medication ceftriaxone, several children experienced adverse reactions. Tragically, three children lost their lives. Despite her immediate response, taking the children to triage for emergency help, there were no doctors available to assist with resuscitation.
Following this incident, the Medical Superintendent filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Iqra, falsely accusing her of neglecting to administer a test dose. Considering her overwhelming workload, it is unreasonable to expect that a single staff member could manage the administration of test doses and provide care for 100 children simultaneously.
This tragic outcome is a direct result of severe staff shortages and the absence of necessary medical personnel in the ward, not negligence on Iqra’s part. The real issue lies in the inadequate staffing and support provided to medical personnel at the hospital.
We demand an immediate and thorough investigation into this incident, focusing on the systemic failures that led to this tragedy. We call for the following actions:
Immediate release of Iqra from custody.
A thorough investigation into the staffing policies at DHQ Hospital Khanewal.
Accountability for those responsible for the insufficient staffing and lack of available doctors.
Implementation of measures to ensure adequate staffing and availability of medical personnel to prevent such tragedies in the future.
We seek justice for Iqra and demand that her dedication and efforts in the face of impossible conditions be recognized. It is crucial to address the root causes of this incident to prevent future occurrences and ensure the safety and well-being of patients and medical staff alike.
      Sincerely,
      Nursing Youth

Hi I wanna apply for nursing school next May, but plan on working as a per-diem PCT in the meantime. Can you do a video on how to measure oxygen saturation?

Is your bundle books good for the HESI A2 as well or just the NCLEX

Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, I don’t have anything for the HESI exam at the moment. I mainly focus my content on core nursing classes and NCLEX study materials. I always recommend that when prepping for any test, you take as many practice questions as possible and use a HESI-specific study guide. I mention some tips and my experience taking the HESI exam in my RUclips video you can find here: ruclips.net/video/Px_GKsP1q80/видео.html
