OUR HOME AT PALOS VERDES ESTATES - January 14, 1990

On January 14, 1990, my cousin Luis Leus Villanueva visited our home in Palos Verdes Estates. He loved our home and the beautiful view of the Greater Los Angeles Area from our living room and backyard. He also loved the view of the Pacific Ocean, the South Bay. and Redondo Beach from the top of Monte Malaga Mountain.
Every July 4th, we really enjoyed watching the fireworks display from our backyard. The fireworks at the beaches and those from other Los Angeles area cities are awesome. During the Los Angeles riots on April 29, 1992, after the acquittal of the LAPD officers who were charged for the beating of Rodney King, the view from our home was like watching a Hollywood movie with all the fires that erupted in most parts of the greater Los Angeles area.
We are so thankful to God for allowing us to enjoy this home and all of His other blessings. But let us not forget that beautiful homes, beautiful sceneries, nice cars, expensive jewelries, and all the beauty of this physical world are nothing compared to what the Lord Jesus Christ has prepared for us. Jesus said, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” - John 14:2.
Our physical life is so short. A home with a big pool and spectacular views is nice, but we must invest wisely. Let us keep this in mind, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”- Matthew 5:19-21.
