Animation today can be very complex and done with more skills that were learned over the decades of animations and movies. Animators back in the day HAD to do it frame-by-frame, as they didn't have computers or equipment to help with the process. Just because today's animators use computers doesn't mean it's 'lazy'.

      @@man_guo Walt Disney’s perfectionism was self-imposed. At this point in history, Disney was a small name and he did a lot of the animation himself. Animation was a very young art form at the time and most animators put their very best foot forward to make quality animations and prove themselves. It was a different time period than the later 20th century and certainly different from today.

    I feel like something like this is a bit more easier for animators to be able to achieve since it’s just animating the characters with fairly common movements compared to having to animate the muscles in the hands and wrist

    • @aheendwhz1
      @aheendwhz1 Год назад +1

      This! I immediately thought the same thing, it's not that animators got lazy, it's just that hands are way harder to animate. They didn't have to redraw them in order to place them in the right place, they only needed to move them to the correct key.

  • @BrokenCurtain
    @BrokenCurtain 2 года назад +117

    I'm not surprised - this was in the early years of animation, when characters had limbs that would grow and shrink randomly. Advanced techniques like inbetweeners or animation smears also weren't common or not even invented yet.
    So what happened here was that they animated the piano first. The characters were then added in afterwards and just made to fit the keys.

    I really don't blame animators for not animating instruments super accurately. The process of animating even simple actions is a painstaking and often gruelling process. It usually just makes more sense to animate something simply and focus on character movement and story over "accuracy" since storytelling and character is what matters most.

    The tune is an old Viennese chestnut: "Oh du lieber Augustin." Mr. and Mrs. Mouse, sophisticates that they are, have opted for a mixolydian rendition. Edit: I just caught something that escaped my eye and BPM's eye. Mickey's low key is A, not G. Mickey also ends up not on G, but on D-F.

      💀 damn over an animation? An instrument animation that only HAPPENS for like a minute or less? Dang calling it stupid too? Other Animators had their shit going on they are overworked and underpaid. And even if it wasn't its not technically bad animation its just not doing the same keys or animated correctly. And they either have strict schedule or a strict deadline. So um 🤷‍♀️
