You know I think the main pull to the Absolute universe is that the characters we looked at in the main universe, are essentially living their dreams. In the Absolute universe, so many people have had their dreams denied, and yet they are being themselves regardless. This is a powerful message to send out, and I think resonates so much with the current way of the world.
@@turzilla While I can't speak for @TheRouza, I think I understand and agree with their statement. The reason the art is different than other issues is cuz a guest artist worked on this one I don't mind it cuz it works well with whole story effectively being a flashback ( or in Bruce's mind to be more specific ) but I can understand if it won't resonate with everyone
I have to admit I was never a huge DC fan aside from Batman and the Bat Family, but the Absolutes are awesome. They're the reason I decided to get back into reading DC comics again.
This comic is so good, thank you rob for covering it!! Just binged all your immortal hulk videos and they make my hour long drivers go by so quick haha
Batman beats the crap out of you. Breaks your jaw, one of your orbital bones, knocks out some teeth, you can feel blood dripping down your forehead, your entire body is in pain, your legs can barely hold you up and then you hear Batman say; "Now talk, where's the Joker?"
I do agree with Rob on this mainly because the artwork for Issue 4 is a little wonky, but I do love how the story is being written in this kind of dynamic which many are saying it's a more modern rendition of Batman year One.
Absolute banger of a video about an absolute banger of a story so far. Batman has always been my favorite superhero And this version of him.. relatable.
You made it fairly easy to follow, and I get the art style, the classic moments, the flashbacks, I loved his issue, and you made it even better! Thank you! Just got yourself a new subscription, lol, after years… my bad 😣
I think that the change in art style in between relates to the timeline. As in when bruce was a kid, the art style reflects the classic style/ okd school art style. Vs when he is older becoming more modern
God I love this issue I resonate with it because I had a similar situation to Thomas growing up pops took me hunting and bam just up and died of a heart attack, I spent the entirety of my hs career searching for that same feeling Thomas had to find I realized you can’t stop from going if it’s your time so make sure those left behind aren’t high and dry when you go
Personally thought this was the best issue to date.. and that says a lot because the others have been fantastic. IMO the art was to support the continuous flashback and it made sense to me
The art style was so shocking, I legit had to double check if I bought the right comic. Not a fan of the font because it’s not very readable but I don’t mind the art. I was more so disappointed to see our beefy boy lose all his mass
It is interesting how this Gotham is same of the main universe one. Now it makes me wonder how a conversation would go down between the main universe Batman and the absolute universe Batman because of this.
I love that without an Alfred to guide him Bruce’s journey to become Batman and who Batman should be is less linear. He kinda messes around with what he wants and how he should do it all on his own which is really cool.
Bro I WISH my parents had been ANY kind of support. Much love to you all who have known what it means to have "involved, loving, empathetic" parents. We're not all so lucky.
I don't think there's anyone on planet that has as much knowledge as you my man... been here since the early days but lost abit of Interrest after the infinity saga ended in the mcu
I actually love this issue’s art style for Absolute Batman, it gives Gotham a janky lo-fi feel, & calls back to Batman year one in some ways. It’s definitely more illustrative, but the sequence where he has the bat fangs & contact lenses on felt truly terrifying. It would be really cool to see this become the style for Bruce’s flashbacks as contrast to the present day bats more exaggerated art direction or even a longer arc by this artist. For me this is where Absolute BM really clicked into place.
I'm THRILLED that they showed young Bruce experimenting with his ability to strike fear into his enemies! It's such a pivotal part of the batman character that people often underestimate just how HARD it is to be intentionally scary, let alone to be so scary THAT YOU CAUSE PEOPLE TO SPREAD THEIR OWN FOLKLORE ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH YOU.
Nah, cause if I was on some rooftop with thugs and we see this guy pop up out of no where, let out a screech then bite a dudes neck before absolutely ripping thru us. I’d be terrified for the rest of my life 😂
@papingosstudios161I feel like it would be the actions of Orm, I feel absolute Arthur might be similar to his counterpart in the sequel to Justice League War where he lives alone in a lighthouse after his father’s death
Please do a DC top 20 most powerful characters hierarchy like you said you would some years back. The Marvel 4 part version you did is awesome. Yes, I realize you could make all 20 most powerful characters be Batman with different amounts of prep time, but taking away his obnoxious plot armor and you could have a pretty good list.
I know this is an unpopular opinion but I can't get behind the "this batman isn't rich" thing. For some reason it's too much for my suspension of disbelief to handle. I think *Batman Year 100* did that premise WAY better, and if you have to tell me that he designed a device to jack up a semi costs under $1000, maybe there's something wrong witht he story telling. I mean he drives a customized dump truck that that costs over $250k stock, and then he's got bat labeled wrecking balls, and it's uparmored (among other things), All that on top of his crazy suit. That said, it still looks cool and all, but it definitely comes off as the weaker of the big three "Absolute" titles (sales be damned). For some reason it's much easier for me to buy Superman's "he's an alien" or Wonder Woman's "she's a demigod" or something. I'm not trying to sway the opinion of people who enjoy it, I'm just saying it doesn't look like it's for me. The art is definitely cool though.
