- During our trip northbound, we had the opportunity to visit Jake and fly in his 1941 Piper Cub. Fall foliage, glassy water, and old airplanes - the makings of a solid short film. Thanks again to all who helped make this video possible.

A yellow, tandem, high, wing, on a lake with fall colors...can only be a Piper... Perfect!

I'm happy that your remind people that New York isn't just the City and has Natural Beauty. My buddy Ricoh was borne and raised a City boy their but loves nature. My buddy Mike same thing. I got my rating in a Cub like this from NORTHWOODS AVIATION in Cadillac Mi. The most fun you can have in an airplane! Great video! Thanks for posting!!!
My dad told me stories about after the war watching an instructor, his J-3, and student bounding across the field (where the old airport was), "like a giant grasshopper" he'd say... behind Kalkaska high school. I wonder if it could have been the same plane?
He always loved the J-3. Before he passed away he built a wood and fabric Team Minimax, yellow of course with a two cylinder horizontally opposed little engine to match. Sound out of her is beautiful.
Chris, I just checked my logbook; logged flights in 1994 from Sapphire lake with Ron(?) and checkride at Boardman lake. North woods aviation! Flew my Avid on Full Lotus floats for years in Michigan.
I got my rating in 1990 from Don . I have flown all 3 of the Cubs… J3, PA12 , and the PA 18 -150 . Had a chance to trade my Skyhawk for a PA11 with wheels, floats and skis buy wife wanted the 4 seats….🤬. Regretted it ever since.
I love this video so much. I got my commercial ASES add on about a year ago now in a J-3 cub. I haven’t been able to go back and fly it and whenever I’m missing the seaplane flying I go back and watch this absolutely amazing video. Keep up the good work guys

Of the thousands of hours of flying that I have, with small and big airplanes, the most fun I ever had was flying a J-3 on floats after I got my Seaplane Rating.

Magic. I fly floats in Maine as often as I can even though I live in England. My RUclips channel is all about my dream to fly my family around the world in a twin otter on amphibious floats one day. Thanks for that film, 8 minutes of heaven!

Great video Would like to see the floats on the Cub. I have a kitfox and was thinking of putting floats on. I live in Oswego, and have a hanger at KFZY. Also am building a Vans 14A at my house, should be flying it late spring. I am retired and could come to see your cub anytime. Always trying to make new friends. Thanks Tom
