Started the show last night and I honestly think that’s the most genius opening I’ve seen in a while. I had the biggest grin on my face and only 0:15 seconds played. Great filmmaking!
Having the kicker in the beginning of a show, movie or book is highly effective way of getting people’s attention. Aside from this show, here’s another great example. (Prologue from The Way of Kings) “Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king.”
@@Mediados followed up they called him a “pinko” and alimony which means they know hes divorced and his reputation is ruined either for spying or his wife ratting him out, and also use that word for communist so they really just wanted to be kind of like an ass
I like how, on a rewatch, this scene is a lot more depressing for Cooper. He obviously stopped working for Vault-Tec after he overheard their plans, and probably divorced his wife as well. Because of this, they destroyed his reputation by probably telling everyone that he was a communist, hence the guy calling him a pinko and why he's reduced to performing at children's parties. And as for why he won't do the thumbs up, can anyone really blame him?
It'll be interesting to see how things play out in the pre-war segments of Season 2. Just going back and watching this it seems clear Cooper and Bard got divorced (well they 100% did because the guy mentions alimony), but also it seems like he maybe joins with Moldaver's group because the other guy calls him a "pinko". I might have to go back watch the whole series again to see what else becomes clear on a rewatch.
he was probably like spotted by paparazzi or something while attending a meeting and got blacklisted because of that, leading him to do birthday parties to cover expenses
I feel like season 2 is going to tell us more about Cooper Howard's affiliation with Moldaver. I want to think he fought for her in the early days of the NCR.
Love the 1950s setting and politics coupled with the subtle nods to futuristic tech and that this is clearly not taking place during the Cold War. Never played the games but always admired the aesthetic.
Fun fact. The opening of the show is set in the year 2077. In the Fallout Universe, Americans loved the 1950's asteicts so much that it never died out. Of course the bad parts of that decade didn't remain.
I mean, technically, the Cold War kept on going beyond what we knew it as. It’s said that the focus went away from the Soviets to the Chinese because the Soviets kinda went chill if I recall.
0:40 For those not familiar with the lore of the games, six months before the bombs dropped, the President of the United States and other government officials had gone into hiding at an offshore oil rig (seen in Fallout 2) and other locations like the White Springs bunker (in Fallout 76) six months ago (according to the _Boston Bugle_ terminal entries in Fallout 4). These were the people who eventually founded the Enclave.
the 2020s have been awfully plentiful for not only faithful film/show adaptations of games but just really fucking good media independent of their source
It is because the first episode is the end of normal civilization, while the last is just the beginning of something new (I'm not gonna spoil anything so if anyone who's reading this doesn't know, enjoy the show!)

Immediately when I heard Nat King Cole's Orange Colored Sky I knew this show was going to be great 😉👍💥

@@veeeno8891Yep. In Fallout 3, a ghoul named Carol mentioned that the east coast got a warning after the west got hit first.
