I heard she was watching a special on TV and it hit her profoundly, and she felt she HAD to write. I tear up through this whole song, and when Dany comes in with the high notes, the faucet opens up. The video they did in the cave was better, only you couldn't see Pau because of where it was shot from. Ale blocked the line from the camera to the piano. Yeah, the cave video is my favorite live video of this song.

I think this song has caused more grown men to cry than any other song in existence. The first time I played this for my wife, she was boohoo crying at the end and just said "Oh that poor girl, what she must have gone through." I had to go find an interview with them where she spoke about the songs she writes. She said 2 things. 1) If the song is really dark, it was probably written by her. 2) They have very happy lives, and have never experienced any of the things they write about.
I've never heard her give an explanation of her inspiration for this song. I have met their parents, and I am 100% positive it didn't come from her immediate family. They say most of their inspiration is taken from books.
I'm a member of their Patreon. One reward they offer is handwritten lyrics. I chose Black Holes, and it is hanging on my wall.
    Powerful song.

From what they (The Warning) say, all their inspiration comes from books, TV, movies, and what's going on in the world. Though I've heard them talking about addiction, obsession, and mental illness as though they have personal insight?! They have old soul writing since a very young age.

Thank you for your wonderful reactions to The Warning. These girls are so incredibly well developed, their texts so intense and far from childish or youthful ideas. You recognized it correctly, the simple hard rock was almost gone, and 3 Mexican girls (now young women) bring back what has been missing for 20 years. And their music gets under your skin so much. Incredible that they are only at the beginning and consistently continue to work on themselves. There is no doubt that if they go their way they will be very great. I can't manage to call them a chick rock band. They are different, an evolution, their own league. The day will come when I will see on the television how the three of them step onto the stage to receive a big music award. And as a Patreon, I will have wet eyes and will be able to proudly say that I have walked a very small part of their path, made a small contribution to their support. Please check out more of TW, the second album Queen of the Murderscene is an incredible evolution.

They do not write their lyrics from their own experiences, but they are girls with a great intelligence, sensitivity and culture, which allows them to perfectly understand the world and express in a song feelings that at their young age surely they have not vivid.

    • @sergiogonzalez1400

I confirm the above and add, for me it is not difficult to understand how they talk about these issues as if they had experienced it, I was born and lived my education in Monterrey the same city where they are growing and in a socioeconomic level similar to that they live and have lived and unfortunately many children have had to learn about adult problems because they are real and tangible in close circles many times not the family circle but within close society come friendships known Etc. and it happens here since before I was a child (I am 53 years old) so if you are lucky not to live it in your own flesh, these are issues that are touched on in family and school as part of education (as well as other worse ones such as bullying and abuse etc.) in my childhood it was not generalized But if in the schools like the one they studied, so if you are intelligent and curious as they read more on their own and observe the problem to understand it. And the rest is the talent that they have to manifest and interpret it in their music and lyrics, that is largely one of the reasons that make me admire them. on the other hand it is unfortunate that adult problems have multiplied in my country, in my city and in the world and many children have to learn it by the hardest way that is to live it by the hardest method that is to live it and many times like cannon fodder. And as a society we are not aware and proactive.

I may be wrong, but I think like with the previous song about murder suicide, Pau is an exceptionally empathetic person, especially when it comes to song writing. The Album is called 21st Century Blood. And from what I understand, the girls decided to look around at the century they were born into and write songs about all the things they wish were different or they could change. I think it may be like the writer, Hemmingway said: start with at least one true thing that you know and go from there. Similarly, Dany, begain with her feelings of homesickness to write about a girl possessed by loneliness and mental illness in the song, When I'm Alone. Whatever the formula, I continue to be majorly impressed by these three young ladies song writing abilities.

    • @iNsTaNtpUdDiNhEaD
      @iNsTaNtpUdDiNhEaD 4 года назад +4

I don't think mental illness played into that song ("When I'm Alone"), other than that she felt like she was going crazy, being all alone and very far from home and friends for the first time at age 15. In fact, for her this was a very personal song... and remains one of her favorites.

Not the 1st person to be bowled over by the tough subject of this song, the young Lady is a genius writer. It has everything an addict feels in this, the feelings of hopelessness and self loathing, and I don’t get how a 13 year has this empathetic awareness to come up with this. Remarkable...

Black Holes for me is the anthem for those who have not sought out recover and feel they are not worthy of relief from that torment. It's antithesis is "Show me the Light". Since I have presently 12 years of sobriety, these two song have touched me so deeply that I am teaching myself 3D animation (computers have been a hobby for 42 years) to do a music video of both songs. I hope to have both done by the fifth anniversary of XXI Century Blood where these two songs are from.
Paulina never experience addiction. From what I understand she got it the inspiration from news articles. She has the uncanny ability to reach into the soul of humanity and pull out the darkest most profound parts and express them in a way that exposes the listener to their own humanity; to expose these dark parts in light as to release the listener from that burden. This is how profound these two song are for me.

As for the songwriting I think she’s got the talent to tell other people’s stories - like the way Springsteen can. Besides the singing and drumming, she also runs all the tech during the show (background tracks, visuals etc, there’s a video where she explains that). I don’t know much about live shows but I’d imagine she has to make sure she’s starting the automation at exactly the right point so it all stays in sync. She’s really a pro - they all are. In a trio like this the bass has to do a lot and Ale has been doing that live before she could even play a full-size bass.

@@MaddogJones That is the story of "Copper Bullets".
"Black Holes" is about the experience of a close family friend.
I comment it because I am from the same city as them and these narrations that they make about their songs and how they get to them, obviously attract a lot.
IN MY CASE, the story of how Copper Bullets got to them caught my attention when they said that they were inspired by a newspaper article about a tragedy that happened in our city, shortly time after they discover were neighbors of them. THAT reminded me of having read about that tragedy in the newspaper ME too.
WHILE in the Black Holes case, it reminded me of family and friends who went through and / or are going through that experience.

Thank you for your great reaction and analysis of this amazing song. This video is probably my favorite of all the videos I have seen of them, though they are all incredible! That is truly the passion of Pau in this outstanding performance!! My understanding is that the song pertains to a young man who was a friend of the family. Paulina, also at age 13, was tasked with writing a love song and she came up with an unbelievably moving song for a girl of thirteen with no personal experience in that area. The thing that informs much of their songwriting is that they are avid readers, especially Paulina and Daniela.

As for drumming and singing, in “Narcissista” she really nails it on a pretty fast song (although technically pretty easy for her). There’s a video of her singing “Red Hands Never Fade” while drumming and that song has some badass drumming on it. Her voice keeps getting stronger too. I bet she’ll do a solo album someday, but I bet she keeps drumming cuz she is so good. As for voices Ale on bass will likely get some lead vocals on their next record, she is also improving a lot and is still just 15.

For one thing, the timing she has with her sisters - especially having a drummer and bass player locked on like they are, not too many groups have that and a lot of the ones that do are legends.

Like most fairly large cities, Monterrey, MX has their share of crime and drug & alcohol problems. These young ladies draw a good bit of their material from the craziness going on around them and put it into words. Pau seems to have a real knack for writing the darker stuff like this song, and Copper Bullets (which almost didn't make it on to the first album because their folks thought it was too violent). They finally agreed, and Copper Bullets became a crowd favorite in a very short time! If you get into their second album, it's more of a storyline/rock opera type production, as one song leads into the next lyrically. I still have a rough time listening to this all the way through without shedding a tear or two.😥 😉 🤘😎🤘

NO! That is SO wrong on all counts! The song is on _XXI Century Blood_ and the album _Queen of the Murder Scene_ is not about addiction but about obsessive love leading to murder, psychosis, and suicide.

My Dad was an alcoholic and it had a big impact on my life, sadly he's no long living.
To those that like to say Pau (Drummer) is a better singer then Dany (guitarist), that's fine I welcome anyone that shows support. However I hate to break it to you but Dany will keep singing a large amount of the time, they have all made it very clear that Dany will always be the lead singer. I only say this because some people go overboard and bring down one member to raise their favorite.

I think probably the person commenting in there has not yet had the chance to fully experience what Dany is capable of vocally.

Dany and Pau 'have completely different voices. Both are wonderful and Dany has a range from anger to melancholy to insane in her voice, which can be heard very well on Queen of the Murderscene.

I love both their voices. Neither one is going to compete with someone like Adele for power or technical ability, but both sing with so much emotion that a crack here and there or the occasional flat note is almost unnoticeable. Besides a rock vocal can be TOO smooth in my book.

I totally agree. The thing people seem to forget is The Warning are real people, and young ones at that. People appear to not think The Warning can and often do see these reaction videos, and read the comments. Much of what is said with regard to each of the sisters, especially when pertaining to comparison, should be reserved for a private conversation, not plastered in the internet for the world to see. It saddens me to picture the ladies reading the comments and finding the comparisons and, frankly, put downs which too frequently populate the comment sections.
Call it Pollyanna'ish, but, if you don't have something good to say, don't speak. I can hear it already: "I didn't say anything that wasn't true and, besides, you gotta have a thick skin if you're going to be in the public eye."
Those things may be true, but they are not excuses to unnecessarily hurt someone's feelings. Just because a person feels a certain way, and says something that may be true, it does not mean it is appropriate to share said feelings or thoughts in all settings.
I could go on and on, but those who don't care about others' feelings aren't going to care about this anyway. I wanted to throw in my two cents with hope some will give more thought before spouting off in the future.

@@jafquist27 Well said! The initial comment in this case was from someone on his Twitch stream.
