For those interested, Holley actually just released an update for v3 software for dbw tb issues like what we're experiencing. Gonna update it tomorrow and test it. Will report back if it solved the issue or not. Worth a shot... I'm confident this isn't a snake eater issue so don't be so quick to blame them or the product.

@squeezehaze5480 unfortunately no, they have not came in yet. It's fairly ridiculous at this point being the order was placed 13 months ago... It's still gonna get done, just may have to go a different route than originally intended. Luckily these volvos have us neck deep in work so I'm not stressing it as much now as I was.. I just wish I wouldn't of started the series on it until I had everything in hand so it could've flowed and went together smoothly. it's just an expensive lawn ornament for now.

Throttle body is probably fine just doesn't like all that boost hitting it when he lifts with not having a blow off valve since it's electronic. Probably just freaks out and puts it in a fail safe mode. I'm almost positive a bov would solve it, but so would going with a cable tb over dbw.

I had a cobra that done that sticking when you punched it. I found out that my cold air intake tube was too big. The car sucked air so fast it would hold the butterfly open. I
Changed the intake tube to just match the throttle body. It may not be y’all’s problem on that. Just something to think about. I know it sounds crazy but it’s a true story.
Turbo surge going 60 without the wind noise isn't something you hear very often. Sounds great.

It's always worth checking voltages to make sure your battery isn't messing with things. I've seen some unbelievable issues being caused by a low battery/charging system.

I try to get more people to do exhaust mounted turbos because they really do help and they sound really cool and they don't take up room under your hood I knew a guy with a Honda Accord that had a rear mounted turbo on is Accord and that thing ripped

I've seen this a bunch of times, check the throttle body movement, guarantee it's trying to over rotate, lower the max rotation to like 85% see if that helps, can't remember how you do that Holley, also check which direction the throttle travels, ls2 styles travel 1 direction and ls3 style travel the other direction, sometimes switching positive and negative helps if you have a throttle body going the wrong way but last resort on that 1, most aftermarket use a cloned ls3 style motor internals, take throttle boost pipe off and watch the blade move, I bet it's traveling to far and limiting it will fix your problem! Good luck guys!
We actually tried lowering the limit aswell with no change. We thought that was the issue too.
@@BoostandBadHabits damnnn I was sure that was it, I've scene a bunch of issues with aftermarket electronic throttle bodies unfortunately, nothing against any of the companies, I'm on the edge of doing cable throttle myself....don't want to because all my current stuff works in my C5 now but I have an ls3 throttle body that has given me problems in the past that was over rotating, if I think of any other ideas I'll let you know, very frustrating especially when you have such a nice ECU setup with Holley ya know

Yeah it's the turbo flutter issue you need a boost gate that throttle body does not like the fact of what the air is doing when you let off you've got a shock wave of are traveling back out through the turbo which is causing it to flutter like that I believe that is your issue if you give the air somewhere else to go when you let off of the gas I believe it should fix it

If the computer is reading to much manifold pressure, I would run a wastegate over a blow off valve.
Would make monitoring and adjusting manifold pressures way easier.😎👍

Your alternator is fucking up and I'd be willing to bet your electronics aren't getting enough juice to make the system happy. Check the output on the alt and make sure she is charging good. Love the videos!
Datalog would show any voltage drops. We just found out that the holley v3 software released an update specifically for this issue with dbw tb. Gonna try that update tomorrow and test and see.
@BoostandBadHabits ah OK! I have had some crazy issues in the past and so many times it came down to low voltage or a messed up ground. Now when I had a odd problem it's one of the first things I look for.

lol makes me feel better about the squeak my old 2000 RAV4 is starting to make. I've decided to let it go since I've replaced two pulleys and a tensioner pulley. Let it fall off and I'll know which pulley it is lol. Atleast way cooler vehicles squeak too.
Look at your harmonic balancer. They start to squeak when the polymer dries up.

I’d say go ahead and put a blow off on it. That compressor surge is just bad for everything. The air sensor is freaking out seeing all that pressure even after he lets off since the boost is just stuck in the charge pipes
U will be able to tell if it's kinda over rotating by slowly pressing the pedal, if the throttle body gets to the end of its travel before the pedal is fully depressed then sometimes it will like flutter or struggle to try to go farther, also Holley has a calibration electronic throttle bodies but I'm sure you have done that already, let me know when you watch the blade move what it's doing, looking to supercharge my LS soon but winter is ending and I wanna drive my poor dusty ls6 swapped e85 Flex Fuel p59 pcm conversion C5 Vette that's been sitting all winter

As a guy that builds cars you leave it in drive and let it shift or blow three motors like this guy it's up to you but I know from learning too😅
Leave it in drive and let it shift itself under actual power and see how long that transmission lasts.. absolutely nothing wrong with shifting it yourself, that's what the shifter and valve body was designed to do. If this thing was to shift itself it's gonna have 200mph wheel speed in a matter of seconds. Blowing motors has nothing to do with manually shifting it lmao.
@@BoostandBadHabits I have no issues when programming it to shift you don't run into any of those issues because you cut boost and manage torque converter lockup. I guess you don't drag race as much it's all relative I guess to what your looking to do and why. With that much power your going to break things if you don't hold it back that's a given.
So you "cut boost" on the shifts in an automatic 🙃.. sounds slow then if you can't hold boost. Turbo gonna have to re spool back up every gear change... we can 100% leave it in 3rd and let it shift itself and we also play with lock up. But leaving it in drive lol, that's just gonna be a hard no from us dog lol.
I chose to manually shift it so I can short shift to try and control spin on the street. also when you make decent hp and let it auto shift when it spins it immediately upshifts through the gears and wheel speed is 160 mph instantly.
Also. You don't cut boost on shifts you cut timing. It's faster and way more predictable/repeatable.
What is the story on the Vulva?
It's not the throttle body it's something with the voltage and with it being controlled by The hollies it's putting it into a safety mode I promise you check your voltage when the motor is spinning high RPM somehow and it's got to be dipping
Has nothing to do with rpm but when lifting off throttle in boost. There's no issue whatsoever until lifting off throttle. Which is why it's most likely an issue with no blow off valve resulting in the air rushing backwards shuttering the throttle blade causing it to freak out and go into a safety mode. As I mentioned we'd see a voltage issue in the log. Not blaming the throttle body, it's doing it's job fine, it's just not happy with what we're trying to do. Which is why we'll most likely swap to a sep cable tb to avoid similar issues in the future.
Putting cooling in the front of the bed is about useful as putting in the back seat.
It keeps my trans Temps nice and low. 🎉
