Nice video! But Yugoslavia does not exist anymore so the text should be revised. It is a Slovenian dog from a Slovenian region -karst (southwest of Slovenia). I used to have a karst Shepherd for 14 years. He was a very familiar and devoted dog.
Great dog! My neighbour had it and I played with him all the time. It was the gentlest dog possible. We, kids played with him and when it was too much for him, he just gently pushed us away with his snout. We were his flock, and when a bigger guy than us, he stood between us and checked him, when he realized we are ok, it was ok with him. We were always protected. He died at some 15 or 16 years old. This film brought some fond memories. Some 20 or 25 years ago I got an oportunity to film a documentary of the karst shepheard which I've seen only at it's premiere and now i feel I need to see it again.
Karst ancestor is The Illyrian Sheepdog aka Deltari Ilir aka Sharr Mountain dog, Karst dog is very similar to the ISh. Smaller in body, head and in general compared to the ISh.
Illyrian Sheepdog aka Sharr mountain dog is a very old dog breed common in Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia region. A typicall livestock guardian of the Illyrians today Albanians. Compared to Karst dog the ISh is much bigger it reaches 75-80cm at shoulders and it weights at 60-70kg.
Krašavec as like all breeds may have some different dog genes in them but its ancestor is deffinetly not a Šarplaninec... its origins date back to the roman times and it co-evolved with the Šarplaninec... also illyrians is a common name for people from the old slavic tribes(Slovenija, Croatia and Serbia) and has nothing to do with albania not to mention kosovo is not albania but thats a whole other topic
The standard of the Karst shepherd, then called the Illyrian shepherd, was first drawn up in 1929, the author was dr. Ivan Lovrenčič. Kraševec was internationally recognized under the name Illyrian Shepherd on June 2, 1939 at the assembly of the International Kennel Club (FCI) in Stockholm. These are historical facts.

Karst shepard (Kraški ovčar-slovenian) is a relative of Shar planina dog (Šarpalaninac-Serbia) and both are one of the oldest dog breeds in Europe and in the word.
albanians and their pride.... its a native slovenian breed and it is the original illyrian shepherd ... they evolved naturally around humans and werent artificially breed like the šarplaninec ... the karst shepherd is smaller but more athletic... its basically a slightly bigger german shepherd with a long dense coat and shares no physical resemblance to the šarplaninec other than coat and the coat colour
@@RePlayBoy101 Šarplaninec WAS NOT ARTIFICIALY BREEDED and is in FACT OLDER than KRAŠKI OVČAR/Karst shepard because Karst shepared was breeded from ŠARPLANINEC by breeding him with other breeds of shepards. ŠARPLANINEC was used as a breed in time of Alexander the Great (Lesandar Karanovich) so it is one of THE OLDEST BREEDS OF DOGS EVER MENTIONED ANYWHERE. Which is uderstandable that SERBIAN BREED was used by a SERBIAN KING while there are still people who falsely believe that Alexandar named after Serbian pagan god Leško/Les as LESANDAR (Les's Gift) was a "Greek" or Hellen. Well he was NOT a Hellen/"Greek" he was a SERBIAN warrior also called Greti/Geti/Goti (Greti: serbian-slavic warrior class, named after serbian word Greti-to go away, as warriors who go away to war) and land where Greti/Geti lived other nations called GRETIA which was later wrongly translated into Greece & Greeks so Hellens were also called Greeks while Serbian warriors were called Greti/Geti/Goti and the land where they lived Gretia. So ŠARPLANINEC was not breeded artificialy because he is older than other dog breeds who were all breeded ARTIFICIALY so that later they could be declared as pure-breeded dogs, which in a big majority they are not.
