Appreciate the honesty. So many videos saying to just skip it. But it’s such a great value especially if you catch it on discount. I have the 8a in aloe and it’s been a fun little phone.
I actually prefer the 8a over either of the other 8 models. Love the plastic matte back, flat camera bar and that sharp aloe color. I do think Google should’ve charged $399 so that it would be more of a value geared towards the budget range. At most $449 so that compared to the standard 8 it would still be an excellent budget Pixel. But that’s where waiting until it goes on sale would be the best way to pick the 8a up.

The 8a has charm for sure. But not quite ready to upgrade my s21fe yet. Still a bit of life left in it!
Water rating means nothing. If Google or Apple open a phone up and see the water detection dots turn Red, they deny your warranty.
Happened to my buddy. His iPhone was still under Apple factory warranty and it was acting up, they opened it up and said water damage, sorry not covered give us $600 to fix it.
Google is the same way.
Just ignore the rating, I'd rather they say it was tested to be equivalent ip68 but no official rating and discount the phone $200. Like OnePlus.

With gesture navigation I don't mind the thicker bezels. Throw a black case on it and it just blends easily.

I might upgrade to 8a from my flip 4. I could get S24 ultra but its so big and way more expensive. I never owned a pixel and 8a is still good enough for most people
I woudnt call that an upgrade. If you live in the us the s24 or plus with snapdragon is the way to go. Probably best option is to leep the flip if possible.
I think tech RUclipsrs in general take for granted how much of a difference 200 dollars can make. Like genuinely why pay more for the same experience in a worse losing package? This isnt like comparing the iPhone 15 Pro to the IPhone SE 3.

I got it around 250 after an enhanced trade in here in the UK. They have me 200 pounds for a samsung a52 with a cracked screen plus 10% of the 499 price in google store credit because I am a google one customer. When i tried the same trade in for the 8 it gave me 43 pounds. So they artificially have it listed at 499 but in the end its really closer to 250-300. There are always deals and there will always be a way to get it for 200-300 less than the 8. I would ignore the MSRP. I have an 8 Pro as well. I bought this one because of the trade in deal with rhe cracked screen samsung and for fun. I would say the experience is very similar to the pro but in a smaller form factor and there are times I prefer that
Im fan of pixel mobile.but im using red mi mobile .one day we definitely use pixel mobile its my dream.
I kinda need help here, I have a redmi note 10 pro here and I'm abusing it all day(sadly, trying to change that tho) but I was planning to get a pixel when I change phones about 1 year later, but it has some kind of sim problem in the couple of days and I was wondering is it worth it to switch or should I just wait for the 9? And would it be a good upgrade?
This may seem weird, but for me, the main thing that keeps me from getting the A series is the lesser gorilla glass. I know the difference in drop resistance is probably negligible, but that extra piece of mind goes a long way for me. And if it did break, id be cussing myself for not getting the standard 8, which, in my mind, would have survived whatever fall just killed the A, even if theres no way to actually know that, and most likely the standard 8 would have also broken.
If they would use the same glass for the screen, id be all in.
