    I've just printed 4 jobs on an A8.
    I've always had problems with this printer in fact the first time I've printed with it was yesterday - but I installed Marlin Firmware (1.1.9) - and it now ignores small steps (microsteps?) on circles effectively putting flat sides on circles.
    1. The G Code looks good when I step through it (written on Slic3r) the round edges are there.
    2. The G Code uses "G1" notation in all steps were X,Y,&E are stepped.
    Is this a known fault with Anet A8 + Marlin 1.1.9 Will Marlin 2.0 fix this?

    • @scottdodd7354
      @scottdodd7354 4 года назад

      u need the microsteps. a full step is 1.8 deg of a circle of rotation of a motor. with original drivers i think u get 1/16 step, after market can go to i think 1/256 step. the smaller the step , the more detail (and longer print times). Hence the flat spots, the program jumped the steps to produce the full circle and took out 15/16 of it to jump the microsteps. What drivers are you using in Marlin? And what board and version of the board are u using? that has all the details why u are printing that way.

Select "Init" using the up or down buttons, and press the middle button to confirm. Why the Z Safe homing? It's super weird and annoying that the extruder moves to the center of the X / Y while homing now. I disabled it again cause if one print stops due to some annoying reasons you can't home anymore.

    • @MrDabrudda
      @MrDabrudda  4 года назад +1

      Z Safe Homing raises the print head a defined amount to prevent the print nozzle from gouging and dragging across your heat bed because when you first start homing the printer does not know the height of your Z. Raise the head 5mm, home X & Y, then go to the center of the bed and home Z. Without Z Safe Homing you will crash the nozzle eventually.
      And if a print stops due to an error I usually end up reprinting the entire part anyways.

    • @brokendystopia
      @brokendystopia 4 года назад

      @@MrDabrudda True, Z Safe homing is safer for the extruder. I was printing a 10 hour print job though that stopped after 8 hours... ended up re flashing Marlin without Z Safe homing and then finished printing the part.

      I haven't tried Marlin V2 yet, but Marlin V1.x worked fine on my Anet 1.7 board. It's the same AVR microcontroller so it shouldn't matter.

      THe "new" boards have the same amount of memory, so this fix is still valid/needed.

    Marlin 2.0 for ANet A8 - I tried to compile it last night and just now, and it's got compile errors on macro.h - is this common? Easy fix?

      What are you using to compile the firmware? Arduino IDE, Atom, or VS?

    • @andysouthern1699

      @@MrDabrudda Arduino IDE - I've put VS(C) on now and will try again.

      Ok, so looks like I've compiled, once I removed the .html files that "somehow" got saved instead of github's .h file (hint: don't do right click, "save link as"...)

      I use Arduino IDE and you need to click the Clone or Download button on the right side of Github to download the zip file.

    Have you a configuration file for 2.0.1 with Bad auto leveling?

    • @MrDabrudda
      @MrDabrudda  4 года назад

      You only need to enable the bed leveling in the configuration.h file by uncommenting the line

      @@MrDabrudda just enabling doesn't work, i had to define fix mount, set the distance between nozzle and probe (but i cant get auto leveling working, i add the min_edge_probe_left/right/back/front and still doesn't work)
      when i press auto level, it does homing and it stays there like if it where finished
      anyone help?

    I managed to get 1.8 with auto bed levelling (bltouch) enabled with flashing the Optiboot bootloader without disabling anything.
    It makes the start far quicker

      It was an awful faff to do as the USBASP USBISP AVR USBasp_H6 Programmer I used to do it doesn't put the correct drivers on for windows by default.
