      Glad to see you took the effort to get this posted! There’s not many DMB reactions online, presumably because they get blocked. Which really surprised me, because DMB owes a lot of its success to bootlegs, which were encouraged at the time. I saw them in concert in 1998 or so, maybe six rows back, and the guy next to me shamelessly and obviously duct-taped a microphone to his baseball cap to record the whole show. Nobody seemed to mind.

    My most favorite of all time! Dude in the horns, LeRoi Moore, was killed in 2008 in an atv accident.. Boyd Tinsley, violin, was exposed in the #MeToo movement & left.. I’m still so mad about it.. All Along The Watchtower from Central Park is bananas.. 120k people, perfect late summer night, the middle of Manhattan.. being there was soul altering..

    When it comes to a live BAND, it doesn't get much better. You should always react to DMB with the live videos when you can, but their studio production is just as detailed and precise as their live performances. Still one of the top selling concert acts year after year since the mid 90s's. Their first 5 albums are still their best music.

    Their live shows are unreal. The riffs, the solos, just amazing. There is a live performance of their song '42' in which the Band the Flecktones is up on stage with the Dave Matthews Band. That song alone lasted more than 30 minutes with all the solos and riffs and it is an absolutely glorious 30 minutes.
    And then you go into the Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds duo live performances and again just amazing. Their Radio City Music Hall concert is amazing. Suggest 'Bartender' from that though the whole concert is worth watching, and I believe is up on Dave Matthews youtube channel.
    There are a bunch of amazing live sets from them. The above songs, "jimi thing' live in New York. Pretty much anything you can find live of them.
    There are some great focus videos on Carter Beauford's drumming.
    The whole band is very charitable, especially in their hometown of Charlette. From food, school, to music foundations.

    I saw them 3 times in the late 90s. To me, they were one of the best bands, ever. I personally liked the studio version better although the energy at the concerts was great. They drew a lot of college students to the shows. I thought Dave was hot 🔥.

    This song is a fun one to sing at the top of your lungs. Especially the last lines... loose ends loose ends try not to offend cut cut. LOLOL When it first came out, yep I'm "that old", I absolutely loved loved love it. Still do. May I suggest a fun, unique sounding, band that's as fresh as DMB? "Jump Little Children". Their earlier tunes. Enjoy.

    LOVE that you're doing Dave! Here's the thing... you could listen to that same song on the studio album and it would be different yet still great. You could listen to it in concert with the full band and it would be different than the other two, yet still great.
    With Dave, you might get the following:
    -- Solo Dave: Things like the Tiny Desk Concert has just him and his guitar.
    -- Dave & Tim: Dueling acoustic guitars.
    -- Dave & Carter: The Warehouse Sessions are great! Guitar + Drums only or Piano + Drums only.
    -- Dave Matthews Band Studio: Clean cut studio versions of their songs.
    -- Dave Matthews Band Live: All the musicians are extremely talented. And on any given night, it might be your favorite version of the song as they "feel" the music and go with the flow. A 5 minute song might turn into a 17 minute song.
    And this is the crazy thing... I'd pick the studio version for 99% of bands, but with Dave, the live might be better. It's all amazing!
    Keep going down this rabbit hole... you won't regret it. And get yourself to a concert. If they're in your city for multiple days, each concert set will be different. Go Day 1... you'll probably want to go back Day 2.
    Cheers! :)

    They sound like shit live most of the time. Major timing and intonation issues. I love a fun jam session with great musicians riffing off each other but that was painful throughout. Their studio versions are always top notch though. Carter Beauford is always rock solid live, and the only thing I really focus on when i hear them live.

    • @Bobaman5400
      @Bobaman5400 3 месяца назад

      😂 theyve made a living off of playing live for over 40 years 😂....so obviously youre very wrong. ive seen them live over 30 times & have never once ever heard them sound bad in any way shape or form. Not one musician in that band has ever sounded bad live. Thats why theyre so successful. Thats like saying "Pete Rose was bad at hitting" or "Tom Brady was bad at throwing a football" 🤦

    • @facts2741
      @facts2741 3 месяца назад

      @Bobaman5400 yeah their fans don't care too much about musicality, so good for all of you. Being out of tune isn't something that falls under opinion. The violin is particularly hideous when it comes to intonation a lot of the time. Use your ears during his solo in this. Its grotesque. . Neither are tempo and timing issues, both of which are major problems for them live despite carter being an absolute stud and trying to keep them together. Selling tickets doesn't automatically mean good musicianship lol. Thats like saying Taylor swift is the greatest musician alive right now because she sells so many tix.
