- Ratboy aka John Wrigley influenced your favorite rider's favorite rider. From Arizona, he's had one hell of a BMX career and he came over to my house to chat about it and watch some of his video parts. We cover everything from the beginning to present day. So hyped. This episode took 8 hours to edit going through and adding the footage we were watching and trying to match it up so cut me some slack and enjoy.
Ratboy is not on social media.

I started riding in the late 90’s. Even being in LA, there were very few riders in our neighborhood, so me and my friends had to figure this out on our own for the most part. From Crank Tv to ride bmw and bmw plus, we consumed everything we could get our hands on as we started to figure out our own style. There was the little motorcycle shop in East LA, the owner let his son, Polo have a little section to himself where he sold bike parts.. that’s where I bought my first S&M frame. That shop introduced us to the AZ scene and it blew our minds. We had a small glimpse before that thanks to this show called Real TV where they had a segment on Chris Toth breaking his back.. but now we can get it all. All the Ells Bells videos, watching guys ride brakeless.. such a magical time. We saw Rat Boy lurking in the background to becoming the best out of that crew and it probably wasn’t close.
I’m happy he’s in a better place now and back to riding. I urge you to talk him into at least getting an Instagram account. I’m not even sure he knows how beloved he is within this community and I feel it’ll be good to have a hoard of us giving him the praise he deserves as he continues this journey.
This is so tight! I lived 2 blocks away from the wedge from 95-00. I rode my shitty dyno with mag wheels there everyday. One day when i was 7, this kid wanted to kick my ass and chased me through the park. I finall rode up to ratboy amd skunk bros, and asked if they would protect me. They did! And accepted me! They let me ride with them, and taught me tricks! I could keep up with them and hit the big ass dirt jumps with them! I moved away before ratboy got big...two or three years later, i go into my 6th grade library and boom, hes on the cover of ride bmx. And had a 4 page spread! I always thought he was a pro! Soo stoked to see him riding again! If you talk to him again, could you ask him of he remembers a little redhead ginger riding a dyno with mag wheels at the wedge in like 98-99? Awesome interview man!!!
Drove me nuts every time he said "expired" when he meant "inspired" lol
when I was a kid Ratboy was my guy. when I seen Turbulence his part blew my mind, no one else was doing tech shit like him. and I think it was the only rap song in the video so I was drawn to it. he had a couple parts then I never seen or herd of him again. his part had such an impression on me for like 20 years now, once every year or two I think of him and start looking for info as to what ever happened to him. I herd he started doing meth and died. I am so happy to see this, thanks man
Stoked On Two SOMBRA CREW Veterans in a row!!
GRAND PRE MVP (sprocket chunk suicide?barspin) The Wedge is a treat, only rode it once in 2002 after getting kicked out of the skatepark at the top of the hill if I remember correctly
Edwin now Ratboy. Kanode you are killing it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I hope Edwin made that call to Scerbo for you 😊
Bob'll come around sometime for sure! Thanks DFLJay
The Murray warpig LoL 😂
Loving this. You were right though, his memory is shit!! Haha! Seeing his face light up when the memories do return is rad though!!
I remember every time I've ever talked or seen rat since i was 8 - 9 years old (95'-96') and he asked me for a 1$ to clear the wedge and wouldn't believe him - to the baseball games behind supai and all these pack of riders leaving the park and the lead rider hoped on the bench by the back of gym and did something off it and I couldn't believe it - to drinking 40's and riding down the road after watching the big screen at strohowers - to the time he followed me up 420 hill and caught me smoking crack with scuba steve and then went down and told the whole skatepark -- RAW Hardcore DEEP LEVELs - EVERYTHING TO belive in !- THIS GUY IS THE FLAME - My Favorotie riders favorite rider '
I was watching the big screen at strohowers too.. taking bong ripz and eating shrooms dust..then going for a ride

Is this Halston?
on the down low is in my top three. thanks for doing this fellas
These are so great-great guests and interviews, BK. BTW I ran this through an AI editor to chop out the pauses and filler words and it cut 20 minutes off the runtime lol
Hahaa that’s amazing I need that in every episode
Thank you for this interview to both of you, really inspiring ❤
I am STOKED to see this 👏👏
Ratboy was a blast on the Rollin' tour. He made the whole trip so much fun. Glad to see him hanging in there!
OG KRT🙌

I love Rolling on the River. It's probably the last big video that has progressive front brake riding before it completely went out of fashion, and Ratboy totally killed it.
Great video but the soundtrack was all over the place. Volume up and down, pitch too high etc. Riding was top quality though.
@@jamesbrawn2376 you mean you didn't like Nelly, Kula Shaker and Rick Derringer on the same soundtrack 😂
@@dan44zzt231 more the quality than the selection.
EERRRR-RUHH-RA-RAAH-RUHHH-RAAAHHH-RUHH-RAAAATTTT-BUHHH-BUUH-BUH-BUH-BUUHHH-BOOOOYYYEEEEEHHHH!!!!!
he got bmx in his blood you can see it
Gonna watch the Edwin ep after this
Favourite videos growing up were On The Down Low and Shutdown, so I loved this. Wish you asked him if he knew what happened to Brendan Watson.
Oh! And I also wanted you to expand on what it was like for him in Davenport Iowa in summer. I have to imagine there was a culture shock for a seemingly shifty dude from Arizona.
Good feedback I’ll get him on again someday for sure
Ruh-Ra-Ruh-Ra-Ruh-Rat Buh-buh-buh-buh-boiiiiiiii
Put some respect on Nina Burrito shame on you
What did anyone say about Nina buitrago? I didn't hear them mention her.
God dang he would have been an awesome addition to Road Fools. They gotta do a Road Fools Legends trip.
Sombra finding shade had a road fools vibe
@@Bushey4545 oh that’s cool. I need to see that then.
