@@boarbot7829 Because technically Ben and Adam won that season too. Utah's east border is not actually a straight line with Colorado. You can draw a perfectly North-South line and it will go through Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. Which Ben and Adam had before Sam even got to Montana.

Toby's speeches without the letter e were marvellous! She's such a good fit for the series and provides a calm and balanced nuance against Ben and Adam's chaos.
And she's also a good match for Sam. Feel like with Brian Sam just kinda rolled over him with decisions but Toby is really in it and making smart decisions. Not a whole lotta chemistry between them like with Ben & Adam but they seem to be vibin

The split after Picton is simply the most crucial thing I've seen yet this season. Sam and Toby skipping the fish challenge could save them time, but with Ben and Adam gaining more coins to curse Sam and Toby could really cost them time. I'm sure that it could be a battle of curses until the next intersection of the route and it should be really exciting.
Just saw the next episode on Nebula. All I can say is: OMG.

Yeah, I think Sam is underestimating how important Ben and Adam *not* following is. It's already been established Sam and Toby love to place roadblocks in the most strategical spots possible, and since they get to the challenges first they will always have the coins to place them. Not to mention the boys being forced to fish? They'll just stay behind for the rest of the game. They need powerups to make a comeback.

Toby's knitting skills singlehandedly winning them the lead was a masterstroke! I'm loving this season, it's such a well-designed game!

Sometimes while watching Jet Lag, I think "Guys, calm down, it's just a game". Then not a minute later, I realize that my heart rate is up because I'm so nervous that someone's gonna get Nerfed, or miss a train, or have a stroke of bad luck. The suspense is real!
I absolutely love getting over excited over the small things xD My favorite was in Auckland where Sam&Toby had to plot their route around MacDonalds so as to not lose them time due to their curse xD

Gotta love how Ben keeps up the positive mood in the team, like complimenting Adam for good reference or pointing out small details. This season I honestly tried to root for other team than Ben and Adam, but I guess, I will be rooting for them again.
I thought maybe they'd split up Ben and Adam this season for some variety, but you can't beat the dream team.

@gamingtime9716 I thought about it as well, but my conclusion was that a Sam-Adam combination would be too powerful but perhaps not as entertaining and a Sam-Ben combination would drive both of them crazy. Sam seems like he will have less patience with Ben's Shannanigens while Adam enjoys them and still manages to stay focused on the competition
I did however enjoy the chase season where we got to see a mix up between them and how each of them behaved when running solo
The Battle of Wellington was the most intense I’ve felt watching Jet Lag so far, Sam and Toby put on their speed running shoes for the campaign speech without using e no less
The Battle of Wellington shall be written about in history books for years to come.
From guiding Sam around blindfolded, knitting the tie, to writing the e-less speech Toby really helped work through the curse. Too bad about the Sting Rays.
Toby's no E speech is better than some real campaign speeches

West route was the right play for sure. regardless of any speed difference, it also gives ben and adam some time to collect more coins that they can use to curse their way back into the game without having to also worry about roadblocks. well played!
OH MY GOODNESS that clutch play by Toby knitting the tie and writing the speeches with no "E"s was so hype!!!! Such a close call too! But now I'm super worried about how the route choice is gonna affect them going forward. This season is so nuts I can't wait to see more! Go Team Sam & Toby!!

This is such a small part of the episode but I really liked the ferry animation showing Toby’s hair flapping in the wind 😂 hats off to all the animators for every little thing they put into these episodes

I love the fact that Ben and Adam were really hoping that Sam and Toby would have a hard time finding a tie, and Toby KNITTED (or crocheted?) her own! Great play.
I Just realized just how much love and detail you put into the graphics: I loved the hair following Toby on the ferry.

Jet Lag highlighting how inconsistent the ferry services between the Islands hits home hard... In the future, seeing a game where Ben and Adam are on different teams would be awesome, and an epic battle of strategic minds
I think it is a good move Ben and Adam taking the west route. Sam has shown how skilled he is with throwing roadblocks and he and Toby have a lot of coins, that is what got them so far behind. So taking the west route (opposite of what Toby and Sam are doing) allows Ben and Adam to earn up coins on challenges with out the danger of getting roadblocked in the middle of nowhere.
I find it hilarious that each team thinks the “smart move” for the other team is the exact opposite of what happened 😂.
Toby was like "buy a tie? It'd be a real shame if someone just knitted one!" She's living in the year 3000 for real 😆
Ben and Adam got lucky. Their ferry & Sam and Toby's veto almost made them the equivalent of being on the same ferry
It keeps catching me off guard how long Toby's hair is. It's insanely long!
the 1:00 ferry is a larger boat, therefore takes longer to unload, the 3:45 ferry is smaller therefore quicker to unload, so that was an advantage Ben and Adam
Toby is actually so good in this series! Total underdog, but her and sam are such a good team! GO TEAM TOBY!👏

Same, I thought I wouldn't like it as much because the area they're playing in isn't as big as the US, but wow this series is good

I am so happy for Ben and Adam to be back in the game! At first I thought that the intrigue was dead, the guys were just so unlucky! But now they are back on track!! It's amazing!!

Sam is on average at a disadvantage because he changes partner every season, but Ben and Adam is solid, the chemistry is great, the vibe is wonderful. Team Ben and Adam 💯%
I usually am too but for this season I'm picking Sam's team. For one, he never won so I hope he wins this one time and I just don't like the strategy of ben and Adam this season.
I feel conflicted this season. I originally wanted to root for Sam & Toby, but Sam is just a bit too eager to win it. Ben & Adam seem to be way more relaxed and actually take time to enjoy it. And now that they lost two times by a matter of seconds, I can't help but root for them to make a comeback.
It is funny how Sam speaks it like he could just say the words normally like I am going to walk instead he is like I. Am. Going. To. Walk. Even when they have their words planned out they still hesitate

Jet Lag is like some reality show on TV but without the annoying or fake drama and childish fights. 💚
I know they took inspiration from “The Amazing Race” but those producers decided to play up the fighting and drama, while this show is more about friendship. The sheer wholesomeness of Jet Lag is what makes it fantastic though!
I received news of a relative passing away today and was in a really sad mood and this episode got some good laughs out of me, thank you so much

I'm from New Zealand. I'm impressed you both made it across on your booked ferries at all.
They've had ongoing breakdowns and cancellations. The waiting list to rebook is up to a month long.
I've never been as invested in a RUclips series as I am with jetlag.
Ok, Ben & Adam got lucky and now have a slight chance to actually be able to win this. Skipping the Fish challenge is going to cost Sam & Toby a lot of points, probably bringing Ben & Adam into the points lead. And if Sam & Toby get really unlucky with the other challenges, they can probably waste an hour. In my opinion going west was the right call.
Yeah, not sure if going east really was the play for Sam and Toby.
Like, in the west they could reliably collect coins AND they wouldn't have to skip so instead of spending 100 place a big "roadblack" they could plonk 6 (6!!!!) roadblocks and still come out ahead on coins.
Probably 7 if you count the opportunity cost of the coins gained in the fish challenge being skipped too.
@@brick6176 The more interesting part would be if they choose to play their challenge skip card on the fishing challenge and instead play it on the christchurch challenge. The christchurch challenge sounds like a massive pain and I would prefer to just get it that out of the way and try my hand at fishing instead

This is the best series so far! I was so glad the ferry situation went the way it did, but the twist kept it exciting. I also have to say I absolutely adore Toby!

I am loving the structure/content of this Season of Jet Lag. I think that the additional conversations/detail in each episode is allowing for us to better understand the decisions and actions of each player. It's also allowing for more great interactions between the team members.
Can you guys add the current time everytime you show the map? I think it improve the viewing experience.
I don't think they'll do that as I think in the post/editing, things are, erm, more creative than we're led to believe (like finishing that wellington challenge in what, 9 minutes?)
Ben and Adam, huge "Fleishman Is in Trouble" fan right here. Read the book and seen the show. Both are 10/10s; absolutely magnificent.

Well they could have either write to each other on sketchbooks or notebooks technically, or speak in another language that doesn't require the alphabet such as Chinese or Japanese. Chinese and Japanese are symbol based languages so asking to not speak with a specific sound is nearly impossible as there's a different word to replace the word that you wanted to say.

Kia Ora. So awesome to see this video. Inspires me to do something like this against my mates. Im a kiwi and this is just awesome. My mates and I always go to Queenstown to ski (from Dunedin), and we always take different routes to get there to change things up (which are such similar time distances). Would be so cool to see which route is fastest when racing, and potentially with challenges alike this. Thank you guys for doing this, made me really fall in love with these 'board games' and made me so so proud to be from this great country of New Zealand. Tēnā koutou.
The game design is insane, how have you managed to make this so balanced every series you've done? Incredible.
They plan months ahead, take lots of different possibilities in consideration and play test the challenges. They also give the challenges enough time to record extra footage to make sure they’ve good content so they can edit everything well together in the end

Sam does say “sea” in the episode before (in a scene where you don’t see him but you do see his car and hear his voice) but it is during the “In the next episode” part so I believe it is just a highlight where the “don’t say e” curse is no longer a thing

I reckon, Sam and Toby not going west is going to cost them. It appears a much faster option despite the distance increase.
The teams splitting at Picton was always going to happen. Ben and Adam need coins and can't afford to just follow Sam and Toby.
I love sam and toby as a team! Finally sam has someone who can keep up the energy and that he has chemistry with. She's also low key cracked at this, so it evens out the teams even more! This is probably my favorite season so far. Honestly I would be happy if they kept toby for the rest of the series LOL. Then maybe they could split up the teams...
She is great. But idk about her pushing the east route, I’m betting that was a horrible idea. A single challenge giving them trouble will delay them more than the other route. And as seen by them thinking sponges float, and a bunch of Sam’s other season’s challenges, they sometimes underestimate challenges like crazy and end up taking forever or vetoing when they were sure it would be easy.
What I love about this show is how competitive both teams are. It's a fun game where they came up with the rules, but they really do take it seriously and just seeing the look on Ben and Adam's face when they are a little behind,Or Sam urgently trying to make sure him and Toby don't speak sucks you into the game and wanna root for a team.
I'm making plans to go to New Zealand later this year and this series has really given me ideas for more things to do when I get there.

It would've had no audio, or would've been unlistenable audio garbage. As disappointed as we all are about the lack of Snack Zone, it had to be done for the viewers sake. It was too powerful.
This is getting more strategic and interesting. Now everything depends on luck.

Love watching these, hate having to wait a week… the Nebula plugs at the end of each episode have never really called out to me, but the one at the end of this episode has definitely caught my attention - 😅 now to see if i can hold out or if Nebula gets a new subscriber
