I use cable and broke it a few times when I first started plowing until I crimped my hook loop about two and a half feet away from my hook. My crimp runs in behind the fairlead on the spool and I have a double line coming out of the fairlead sharing the weight of the plow. Put black tape every 4 to 6 inches of double line cable. works great. It's been 2 winters now and not even a fray.

I use the snowplow roller fairlead with the big roller and works great.
Can't find it on their their website. Do they still make it?
They still make it. You might have to call or email them.
I'd like to invest in one of these for my Warn winch.. would this work on a Warn? Or does Warn make one?
It will work with any winch as it bolts directly on to where the fairlead mounts.
