I think everyone tested the S as that was the model they had at the intro and most media-types are more interested in speed than exploring scenic trails ;-)
Thank you, your the first guy I've heard say. The power-steering is too strong . I've said this myself, but nobody believes me. The worst is the Can Am system. No feel what so ever !
I thought the same, but you get used to it pretty fast. On really tight Rocky Mountain trails ps makes those tight U turns mush easier on the shoulders. BTW I ride like a bat out of. .. and don't have trouble with the ps. We have a Wildcat Trail that I added PS to and a RZR 800 eps. The Polaris ps is very very light. One more... wife owns the Polaris and we rock crawl Moab and areas south all the time. Would tear our shoulders out w/o ps. IMHO (Four Cornersdweller)
I understand what you mean about the lack of feedback, but man, my 800 will wear you out at my local trails. They are very rocky, rutted, and there's a lot of roots.
Another great review, Doug! Just looked at one at our local dealer, but they had sold the EPS version in Orange and ordered back a blue. As far as the heel pocket I am a fan! Reason being, 6ft-2in and 245lbs. so the heel pocket helps with the seat being too close. EPS I have to agree with you, but my small wife does not so EPS it will be! Only correction is that the EPS units do have the unlocking rear axle but they do not have the EBS, that is only available on the 570. I really your TV show but this is the next best thing! Keep up the good work & God Bless!
Thanks Doug! I'll double check with my dealer before I order, cause I really like the EBS in the Colorado mountains around Ouray! I checked on hunterworks and the Duraclutch kit is $1,200.00!
Scott Barnard I really recommend the one-way bearing as well. Check out the RZR570 project and the SLP clutching we put in that one. Incredible on the hills! We've now put it in the 900 along with EBS. You can now idle down hills and it never runs away. I said in that review that I think that setup improves reliability by a bunch! About $600 - $700.
One of your posts stated 7 out of 10 Polaris had issues when sent back. May I ask what those issues are. We're looking into purchasing our firs SXS and my wife and kids are excited, but we're worried about Polaris belt system and have been looking into Honda (not comftrible for wife), or Yamaha Wolverine R-spec (wife loves the seats). However, we have sat in a few Polaris models and she loved the way they felt as well. Having watched a few of your videos and came across the aftermarket belt kit. Has this helped with reliability? Most locals up here in Alaska have stated they carry extra belts just in case. They have also stated their average span is 100-200 miles before wearing out. Also, I've been watching your shows since you initially aired on TV back in the day. Didn't know you were on RUclips till earlier this year. Thanks for sticking around!
They were a variety of issues across the Polaris lineup. RZR's are indeed extremely comfortable. Belts are a huge issue for several reasons - bad design, bad assembly (alignment), and too many owners running in high range in situations that should be low range. The SLP clutch kit makes a huge difference in alignment, operation, and the fact that it doesn't let the clutch release and run away on downhills. There are a lot of issues that worry me as Polaris is notorious for taking the cheapest way out in materials, parts, and assembly. With that said, I own a RZR as there is still no 50" machine like it out there. If you don't require a 50" machine I'd look at the Honda Pioneer 1000, Kawasaki Teryx, or Yamaha Wolverine. Email me at DougMeyer@ATVTV.Com if you get to specifics on models. Emails are much easier for me.
We oftentimes to our tests in segments with the initial test not showing much action as covering what's new on the machine. I find the actual discussion of the details on the machine of more value than simply seeing it driving.
Hey where's all the stickers? lol. Looks awesome Doug! I can't wait to hear how this performs for you and how your mods work out. I think this will be my choice for my trail machine.
Eric Johnson 5'8" Lowering the back bar about 5 inches does amazing things. I'm thinking about 7 or 8 in the rear and 3 in the front but then RyFabs cool windshields don't fit...
A positive Polaris review?! I was beginning to wonder if you had a negative bias; now I think you may just be giving your honest opinion which scares me because I just purchased a Polaris Sportsman 400 HO!
Hi Doug I'm about to take the plunge and buy a new 900. What clutch and EBS are you putting in cause in Washington we have steep hills and I'm gonna need something?
lch747 I take it you did not see our vide(s) we've done on the SLP clutching that include the EBS and one-way bearing? Check out our website as all the videos on the RZR 900 we've done so far are all listed there.... Loook in the 2015 tests under Polaris.
Has anybody compared the Wildcat trail to the RZR 900 Trail ? I just sold my 08 RZR, It was an awesome machine. I'm heading out to buy a new RZR this weekend, but I'm just wondering how the Kittycats are.
The RZR 900 TRAIL 2015 comes with Engine Braking!! Only on the Trail Model though. Just curious why You're talking about adding EBS when it all ready comes with it? Thanks and nice video :-)
+pimpin my spots Yes, the Trail comes with EBS. This is the standard model with no EBS. Even the Trail does not come with the one-way bearing. That is a huge improvement as well.
+ATVTV Thanks for the Fast Response. I'm a little confused though! So you say (standard Model) As in the 60 inch model?? I thought this video was about the Trail 50" Model. That's what the White machine is in the video. So Just to be Clear.... Every 2015 TRAIL (50 inch) RZR 900 Made Has EBS From the Factory? ( Engine Brake System ) Correct? And NONE of the 60" models have it From what I've Read. & That's Dumb they Wouldn't but EBS On All Machines made for the Hills.!!! Thanks Again :-)
+pimpin my spots There is a 'standard' 50" RZR 900 and then the RZR 900 Trail (also 50") The standard does not have power steering, the openable rear diff, or EBS. 90% of the RZRs sold are the more normal(?) Trail edition, but they cost about $2000.00 more. I do not really need power steering and know that the CVT needs some fixes no matter what so to me that 2000 was a big enough difference to choose the standard model. That's why I also needed to install EBS when I installed the one-way bearing, better springs and weights for the altitude, and aligned it.
+ATVTV I See, Thanks for the info. I was just curious because I just bought the 2015 rzr 900 Trail? Maybe it doesn't have Engine Braking? It was the Lower cost, No Power Steering, no Open Diff etc... But it is called the rzr 900 Trail. I guess I'll find out when I get it coming down some steep hills if it has engine braking or not. It sure holds you back when you let off the Gas though. & Is Real Low Geared in Low!! Thanks for the info :-)
+pimpin myspots You'll need to check into the SLP clutching kit if you do many downhills. Polaris 'thinks' they do hills but once you ride areas out west like the Paiute Trail you'll know real downhills - and uphills too ;-)
Hey doug, Been on your channel and haven't seen an video/Review on the 2014 King Quad 400 Or the Sportsman® Touring 570.Do u ink u can get a video on one of them? Thanks man!
We never tested the 2014 but we have a test of the 2015 KQ 400. There will be no 570 test I don't think....Polaris is still made at me for having said that 7 of the last 10 machines they lent us had problems ;-)
+Erik Desormiers I've just never understood the need for strange decal designs on UTVs. Our cars and trucks are plain ;-) Using a hair dryer to heat them up they peel off rather easily.
+ATVTV rocks hiring the rad from the back.... Ball joints ..... Over heating ..... Wheal bearings....... Front diff..... Would also love to see a video on where all the grease nipples are
I know. Sorry. I rode it around to get the feel but then cleaned it all up so I could start bolting stuff on. Even pulled the stickers before I realized I never filmed it. I guess it was a combination of old age and excitement ;-)
Hey Doug just want to thank you for being one of the few to review the RZR Trail, most reviews have been on the S model.
I think everyone tested the S as that was the model they had at the intro and most media-types are more interested in speed than exploring scenic trails ;-)
Just purchased this machine, great review! And great machine. Love it so far
Thank you, your the first guy I've heard say. The power-steering is too strong . I've said this myself, but nobody believes me. The worst is the Can Am system. No feel what so ever !
I am constantly amazed at what people 'think' is better...
I thought the same, but you get used to it pretty fast. On really tight Rocky Mountain trails ps makes those tight U turns mush easier on the shoulders. Scott Barnard I'm pretty sure that the 50" 900 Trail has EPS, EBS, and open(able) rear differential...
Thanks Doug! I'll double check with my dealer before I order, cause I really like the EBS in the Colorado mountains around Ouray! I checked on hunterworks and the Duraclutch kit is $1,200.00!

said i would never buy another Podog but i have changed my mind with this one !
Wayne Carter My feelings exactly!

I really agree with the power steering
Hello Doug , will you be doing a review on these new units ? Hope so , thanks
Not sure if there will be other Polaris tests or not....
Good information, but if you say "test" in the video title, you expect there to be some actual on-road test of the machine.
We oftentimes to our tests in segments with the initial test not showing much action as covering what's new on the machine. I find the actual discussion of the details on the machine of more value than simply seeing it driving.
How is the testing going? I assume you still like it? When will there be another update? Im raking mine out for its first big ride next weekend!
***** It's going well. No issues. More coming but I have been busy with other tests. You'll love it!
Thanks for the response, ill be waiting....patiently
I would love to see a comparison video between the 50'' Arctic Cat and this new Polaris.
Me too! But I've been trying to get a machine from AC since it came out. Either they don't care or they are afraid ;-)
Hey where's all the stickers? lol. Looks awesome Doug! I can't wait to hear how this performs for you and how your mods work out. I think this will be my choice for my trail machine.
Already have a few of the pieces sitting here but wanted to get that cage lowered first......
ATVTVCOM If you don't mind me asking. How tall are you? Cage looks like it is a foot or more overhead.
Eric Johnson 5'8" Lowering the back bar about 5 inches does amazing things. I'm thinking about 7 or 8 in the rear and 3 in the front but then RyFabs cool windshields don't fit...
ATVTVCOM Are you planning on lowering the stock cage or using one of those roll cage kits?
Eric Johnson Haven't seen any cages for the new 900 so I was planning on cutting the existing cage down.
A positive Polaris review?! I was beginning to wonder if you had a negative bias; now I think you may just be giving your honest opinion which scares me because I just purchased a Polaris Sportsman 400 HO!
There are many great things to love about Polaris machines but also some very annoying things. Basically I'm biased against 'stupid stuff' ;-)
I've owned polaris ATV's since 1994. They are great machines that have always treated me right.
The 900 Trail looks to be my next purchase.

Hello Doug , do they make the aluminum cargo box for these yet ? Like you reviewed for the 800s ? Thanks I just bought the 2015 900s
I don't know for sure but if they don't have one right now they will have one soon. If you are ready contact them....
Ok thanks , do you know how to contact them ?
strpl2 There is both a phone number and an email address on their website.

The old RZR 800s only seemed awesome since there was no 900! The new 900 is so much better it will make your head spin.

ATVTVCOM Ha! Alright thanks is there a difference in the 2015 to the 2014?
goldenkeytosoul A few modifications to injection and muffler to give a little more power and cleaner running for emissions...
ATVTVCOM Ok I'm also thinking of the 2015 Can am outlander L 500 thing looks like a beast i'mma think of getting that
I was waiting for the "heel pocket" comment. Haha
Kaine Daugherty You know I had to mention it ;-)
I take it you like this more than the 570 you had?
Yes. A little better rear suspension and far more torque for the hills.
thanks Doug, love the show btw
did you guys take the decals off?
+riley wind ham First thing.
+Erik Desormiers I've just never understood the need for strange decal designs on UTVs. Our cars and trucks are plain ;-) Using a hair dryer to heat them up they peel off rather easily.
have you had any problems with the rad?
No. What kind of problems did you wonder about?
+ATVTV rocks hiring the rad from the back.... Ball joints ..... Over heating ..... Wheal bearings....... Front diff..... Would also love to see a video on where all the grease nipples are
Polaris are notorious for taking the cheaper way out and using their savings to advance new products. The list of zerk fittings are in the manual.
How about starting it up, geez! TEASE !
I know. Sorry. I rode it around to get the feel but then cleaned it all up so I could start bolting stuff on. Even pulled the stickers before I realized I never filmed it. I guess it was a combination of old age and excitement ;-)
would be cool if you drove it....
cletus2941 What? Have fun? Then my job wouldn't be work ;-)
talking about it is not the same as driving it old timer
Being an 'old timer' means I've put more miles on these things than you ever will son ;-)
