Lol sometimes the reason why I learn and record things as quickly as possible is because it avoids the problem of overthinking the small details. Sight-reading has the added benefit of using instinct and intuition to give things a natural sound as it comes from the mind directly. So, that clarinet solo I pretty much didn't even need to "find" places to breathe, it just happened naturally
@@SpaghettiToaster It was used to be on IMSLP, but yeah seems like there are some copyright disputes over it. And yeah, it was indeed Kirkor's transcription.
When I listen to some pieces by Rachmaninov (slow movement from Cello sonata, slow movement from Symphony no 2, piano concerto no 3) I swear I get similar vibe I get when I listen to Azerbaijani mugham. I see in my fantasy this sheer ecstasy and bliss coming from this exotic enclosed garden. When I look at his last name, I see Rachmaninov might come from Rachman. Doesn't his name actually come from this exotic land?
I've looked it up after your comment... 'Rahman' means 'gracious' or 'merciful' in Arabic... To me it appears this is a perfect reflection of everything Rachmaninoff's music contains. Endless mercy and grace.
What I meant was that I spent a total of 2 hours (learning from the start) working on this and this was the resulting recording. If you're struggling a bit with the interpretation, definitely have a listen to an orchestral version. You can then correlate between the piano and orchestral version.
Я сфотографировала то ,что стоит в интернете ,и по фото учу ,хотя не очень удобно ,но если нет другой возможности иметь у себя эту прекрасную музыку нужно использовать то ,что есть ,спасибо и за это ,удовольствие не малое...
Occasionally I wonder what you would play if you had never discovered music as complex as Sorabji's. This is an absolutely beautiful answer. Bravo

Amazing! I wish you’d play more Rachmaninov (or late Scriabin, your 8th sonata is so good)! Truly thank you for this, loved it
I like how you put attempt 1 so you can't be judged. This is beautiful, but you're compensating for something.
@mooneulogy8717 because I made an attempt 2, duh? And don't want the title to be same?
Beautifully spontaneous. This piece is also my safety valve for emotional stress and energy, so your performance resonates a lot.
2 hours to learn and play is insanely efficient. How long do you think it would take to memorize but not necessarily get to 100% performance standard?
Probably 1 more hour for performance standard and memorization, I just don't know. Haven't memorized anything in a while ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Absolutely incredible for merely 2 hours of work! I can only dream of being on that level of efficiency
Lovely share, thank you so much @Eric! 🤩😘
One of my favorite symphony ever. I'm happy to see some romantic pieces after so much sorabji! Thank you very much !
Your piano version of that piece makes me feel so warm inside, it's almost like a good hug, really fantastic playing and arrangement! :3
This seems outrageously challenging to play.😮
Really love how you brought out the clarinet solo in the beginning, I struggled so much finding places to breathe when I played that excerpt lol

Hi Eric i love your playing and especially your Sorabji, as a fellow pianist what have been the most useful method of practicing repetoir for you?
Honestly, getting good at sight-reading basically makes everything a piece of cake!
Bravo!

Sublime......... so good............. so based............
Where can we find this wonderful music score ?
You learned this in two hours? How do you practice to achieve this level of efficiency?

Is this transcription by Rachmaninoff?
The score is no longer available on IMSLP, is there any other way to get access to the score?
Use this video. Give it more views if you'd like.
