Sweet project this is a great mix with what to do with cutoffs making these and cutting boards would definitely be a hit not only at craft shows but for gifts for family and friends. Thank you for the information
Looks nice! I do think you should get better results from the forstner bit. When I use it, the holes come out super clean. Maybe slow the drill down, like you mentioned?
Yea, that's what I'm thinking. The other potential is how different redwood and hard maple are in their hardness levels. Most of the tearout was in the redwood. Thanks!
Several things I liked in your video. Nicely done! Going to give you a suggestion from the "Makify" channel on a similar project. He used his Dremel tool to get in, in your case, the drilled out glasses holder. Use both the disks and the drums & theoretically that should help out. Nice video!
Great project. I really need to get some of those clamps, I was having a difficult time getting my wood to sit flat when I was gluing up for some cutting boards.
I use a template guide on my router to make the circles for the glasses. I don't have problems with tearout and there is no hole in the bottom from the small registering cutter tip. Cheers.
+Crafted Magazine remember to oversize your template. The distance from edge of bit to outside edge of bushing is not cut. Took me a few runs to figure out why my glasses weren't fitting. 😬
Cool video, but the one thing I really wanted to learn was how to get the circular relief. my understanding is that the drill bit that cuts a circle just leaves a ring. Did you chisel the circle out?
I love the video can you give me the measurements or how you did your measurements for the template again? You were talking to fast 😩😩😩. I did’t catch it all. I really love how you did yours.
This is an awesome project, I can't wait to try making one. I just can't believe these can get $60-80. I was thinking $20-25. Does anybody have experience selling or purchasing these that can speak to pricing?
At most breweries here in the US, they will offer "flights", which are small samples of multiple beers. It's a great way to try a lot of beers at a brewery without spending a ton / getting hammered. :) The flight paddle is used for serving the numerous small glasses in an easy way.
+Crafted Magazine WOW!!! My jaw dropped when I walked in!! It was so nice inside and a lot of great stuff. Most stuff was pretty expensive but I got to see some stuff in person that I have been looking online at!
Hah, it's used for serving small samples of different beers. They're usually used at breweries, but it's also fun to do tastings at home with a group of other beer lovers. :)

Thanks Thom! Definitely, always looking for ways to use up those scraps.

They make a huge difference, I can't even imagine working without them now. Thanks!
Where did you buy the glasses? It’s been hard to find 2 inch glasses.
nice simple project!
Thanks Matt!
That turned out really nice. I'm always surprised what is under the layer of weathering on old boards.
Yea, it was a really nice surprise!

Smart! Totally doing that.

Awesome! Random Q but was this face or edge grain? Wasn’t sure if you rotated the strips before the glue up.
Good job man!
Thank you!

I was just going off of pricing on Etsy. I haven't actually sold any (or attempted to).
Where can I find glasses that have a < 2” diameter base?
Could you use a scroll saw instead of a band saw?
First time I see this, what is this for? like a big coaster ?

+Crafted Magazine oh I get it! Thanks
Nice project! Are you using rocklers dust right hose on the DEWALT orbit sander? If so how do you like it?
Yup, works great! Thanks!
+Crafted Magazine In about a hour I will be at Rockler for the first time!!!!! Can't wait!
***** nice man, have fun!

+Anthony Frasco nice man! I've actually never been to a Rockler store. One day!
I would use the little point the bit made to make a drainage hole if something spills
+Living Wood Creations -wood turning videos- nice idea!
+Crafted Magazine thanks!
Its so easy if you have all of that equipment, but what isnt?
+Z Ross the tools don’t make the woodworker.
What was the tape used to adhere the template to the board?
This is the best stuff I've found : amzn.to/35vLOKX
Do you have the dimensions somewhere to look at
But what is a beer paddle? What do you do with it? I don't drink beer obviously. Haha

Oh that's cool Wes would like that!
+Sandra Powell aka {Sawdust Girl} I've also seen the glasses used to hold votive candles as a nice center piece. 👍
Definitely not $60 worth maybe $30
+Adam Loya really just depends on your area and how you market your stuff.
I sell mine for 30...and im not using hardwood or nearly as pro star as this dude.
